I was looking for somewhere to get my ears professionally cleaned, and was so impressed with Dr Thakkar's glowing reviews on yelp and his website bio, both my husband and I paid a visit, and we both ended up ordering custom ear plugs. My husband - musician ear plugs; me - swimming ear plugs. The procedure for getting molds of our ears made was fairly fast, not uncomfortable (just a slightly weird sensation), and the ear plugs were ready to pick up in 2 weeks. As someone who generally does not like having my ears plugged, these custom swim plugs (different colors too, to identify R and L!) have been a revelation. They are really snug and comfortable, don't fall out, don't let water in, allow me to still hear some sound, and I was told that they also float if they should fall into the pool. I haven't tested this. I highly recommend Soundscape Audiology! It was very easy to make appointments. I had a dilemma--Coachella was less than a week away, but I needed custom earplugs ASAP. Dr. Thakkar solved my dilemma by not only setting an ad-hoc appointment outside of his usual clinic hours, but also calculated the ideal time I should go in for the mold fitting so that he can then send out the molds in time for the manufacturer to turn it around and ship it back before I left for Coachella. Have you ever heard of a one week turnaround for custom ear plugs? The earplugs themselves were a perfect fit and reduced sound equally across the spectrum. (In contrast, the usual non-custom ear plugs usually don't reduce bass substantially, resulting in a muffled sound.) I also went with Dr. Thakkar's recommendation for 10db reduction so that I could leave them on throughout the day each day. I appreciated him being an audiophile, because that instilled an early trust in the recommendation and quality of the custom ear plugs. I will probably go back at a later date to get higher DB filters for other use cases (like reducing wind noise from driving a convertible). read more

I've had multiple visits for ear cleaning, and Dr. T has always been thorough in explaining my ear buildup and the steps needed to clean it. I have psoriasis in my ears, which causes excessive buildup, but after my most recent cleaning, my hearing has been amazing. I was looking for some higher quality earplugs for use at concerts and festivals to protect my hearing and prevent damage, as tradtional earplugs tend to muffle the sound. Dr. Anish Thakar made the entire experience super smooth and educational! The entire process was smooth: setting up an appointment via the website to get a custom mold of my ears. Office was clean and the assistant was polite! The mold of my ear canals took about 10 minutes and didn't feel invasive (see first few photos). Anish walked me through color combos (probably 20 colors I think?) with something for everyone, from solids to glittery to glow in the dark to offer something for everyone. I opted for a -10dB reduction (there's also higher noise reduction level options) the rose clears which he told me wouldn't yellow over time, and there's an option to mark the right side plug with a red dot marker to help you identify which side is which in dark environments or clubs. The great thing is you can reorder if you'd like in other colors or decibel level reductions because they have your ear canal mold data on file! After about 2 weeks, the plugs came in! When I went to pick them up, he helped me understand how to 'turn' them in, and how to pull them out (quite different from just sticking straight in like with disposables), as they are custom curved to your ears. The earplugs feel firm and come with a tiny silicone string to help pull them out when done. The only problem is choosing a color, I want another set, lol. read more

When I arrived to my appt, the receptionist greeted me right away and I was able to go in no less than 10 minutes. Shortly after, Dr. Thakkar and checked out my ear and he was very professional and explained the process. He flushed out all the wax. It went really smoothly and quick.
