This was the only movie theatre that would do that for us (it had to be a Mon, Tues or Wed, but that worked for us).

This movie Theatre IS OPEN. Status on yelp should be changed to OPEN…read more This movie theater is located on the main street of Manhasset in Nassau county New York. It was opened in November 1936. It's now one of the few remaining independent movie houses from the 30s and 40s on the main street in Long Island. It was originally a single screen theater, but in February 1980 it was turned into a three screen theater. But the art deco style façade and curved marquee remain. Clearview ran it until April 2019. A new operator opened it in April 2019. Closed for the shutdown in March 2020 reopened in May 2021. This is a very impressive Theatre from when you first walk in the front doors. You'll see a few chandeliers upon entering with an old style ticket booth to the right side but that's covered up now and you buy tickets at the concession stand. Another very nice chandelier by the concession stand Tuesday night, which is bargain night $5.00 for a ticket. The young lady and the other woman were very friendly. They offer alcoholic beverages, as well as regular soda and water. I bought my ticket for the movie. MASTERO. Got a large popcorn and a large drink. I went into one of the two theaters that are downstairs theater one. Nice comfortable leather seats 191 seats in theater one. The other theater downstairs similar number of seats. The theater upstairs is where the balcony used to be when it was a it was a single screen theater. Another nice chandelier as you are walking up the stairs to the theater. This theater is spacious also with 160 seats the largest screen out of the three theaters. But the ones downstairs are a very nice size. The projection was clear the sound very good from the speakers on the wall and behind the screen. Good attendance for a Tuesday night the popcorn was delicious. I'd highly recommend going to this theater. I think one of the nicest of the ones left on Long Island right on a main street in a downtown. Definitely more enjoyable than going to one of the big guys those multiplexes. The prices are better for the tickets and the concessions are delicious and good choices of candy soda, and some alcoholic beverages. Parking is a bit tough in Manhasset. No dedicated parking lot for the theater. I did park down a side street where they said 90 minute parking from 9 AM to 7 PM so get there early to try to get a parking spot. The only other parking spots are meters that you have to use coins for, the meter maid did tell me in the parking for Walgreens lot a little bit away from the theater that after 3 PM the guard from Walgreens leaves so you can park there without any trouble according to him. Again, definitely go to this theater. Nice neon marquee outside very clean and inside. Impressive with the Chandeliers and they even had a cool looking old-fashioned water fountain. Nice sized theaters with large screens and very comfortable seats with a good slope in each of the three theaters so you'll have no problem if there's someone sitting in front of you.

I bought the tickets in advance on Fandango ($13.04 adult & $22.72- 2 kids + a $7 convenience fee). This theater only has 3 movies, it's very outdated & dirty, no reclining seats, and sorry to say, everything about it is just disgusting. Upon entering, you have to wait in line to be called to the concession counter- then from there, you could order food/drinks & they scan your tickets. The girls opted for the large combo (large Sprite & a large popcorn) and a pack of twizzlers. They add butter on for you, only the XL size have free refills, no burgers/ hotdogs/ pretzel bites, stuff like that but yet they have alcoholic beverages. The Sprite had no taste- it was like sparkling water, switched it to lemonade & it was worse- it tasted old & expired with an aftertaste, trash it goes. The popcorn was not fresh and the twizzlers were hard. Idk how this place is still in business...

I found these guys on Gig Master and really lucked out. https://www.gigmasters.com/brass-band/street-beat Jeff and the Street Beat Brass Band created the most memorable and joyous experience for our wedding party, guests, locals and tourists as they escorted us across the bridge and played for another hour at the wedding reception during cocktail hour. Jeff and his band were super-accommodating, discussing with us exactly what we wanted all within our budget. Moreover, having the Street Beat Brass Band as part of our celebration was, to us, what makes this great city of ours so unique and special--the delight on the faces of our wedding party, the NYPD, the Mr. Softee Ice Cream truck guy and all the people we encountered along the route over the bridge, in Dumbo and on the F and R train surpassed our expectations. Book these guys if you want to surprise and delight your guests at your next event and want to create a lasting impression.

I announced I was going to take a walk, and was told by some car-dependent Long Islanders there wasn't anything out there and there were no sidewalks anyway. Man, adventure is everywhere. Not even ten minutes up the road from the hospital I stumble upon The Art Guild (aka Elderfields Historic Preserve, The Hewlett-Munson-Williams House), a museum and artists studio that has taken up residence in the oldest house in Nassau County (1675). You're free to wander around the home, looking in all its nooks and crannies. Downstairs a painting class was being held and budding artists put their creations to canvas with soothing music playing in the background. Tea, coffee, and treats are available for a modest price. Each month the art theme changes, the month I went the theme was transportation and I thought the art was very well done! Upstairs you'll find some of the resident artists studios, with their work on display as well. There are kitschy bathrooms with ornate light fixtures, creaky floorboards, heavy doors with their original skeleton keys, dimpled glass window panes, bits of original wallpaper, fireplaces, antique furniture, dormer windows, etc. The ground are also beautiful: old barns and sheds, picket fences, stone pathways, stone walls, blooming trees, a gazebo, creaky gates. On a cloudy, misty, early spring day I felt like I was exploring a secret garden in New England. Just up the road from this is Flower Hill Park, a small but pretty park that is also a nice respite from the waiting room. If you're in the area, or anxiously waiting in the hospital, this is a nice stop to make if you're looking for a calm, soothing environment with friendly people who are happy to either chat with you or let you wander the grounds solo. Shout out to Lisa whose love and excitement for the space shown through so strong. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm, it was contagious!

I hired Happy Little Brush Strokes as a painting activity for a bachelorette party, and the company was so easy to work with from start to finish. I reserved my date several months in advance because their calendar fills up quickly! You're able to choose one of the paintings from their website and adapt it to what you need. I chose to paint full-sized wine bottles (and place fairy lights inside of the bottle so it lights up!) since the bachelorette party was "wine themed." The price was $30 per person for the experience. I believe if you choose to paint a canvas, it's $25 per person. Happy Little Brush Strokes came all the way out to Greenport, Long Island to do this activity. The instructor, Bob, was an absolute delight, who was filled with so much positive energy! He provided everything we needed for the event (paint, brushes, water cups, the wine bottles, fairy lights). The only thing we needed to provide were tables, table cloths, and chairs for our group of 7. The experience took just over two hours, and everyone had an amazing time!
