Colorful shop - it's your typical casual cafe with limited seating that is more geared oriented towards grab and go. Based off the one roll I ate, I'm not quite sure if the taste of the food matches what I've been seeing on other reviews. The roll came by itself and was good but for the price of a chipotle burrito, it seemed lackluster. The staff were nice and welcoming - would consider coming back going for a second time to check something else out but if on a budget, I would recommend holding off.

It is a small neighborhood cafe near Inman Square. I came here a weekday afternoon at about 2pm and the place was still busy. I ordered the special Stuffed Avocado with Chicken Salad. The stuffed avocado was OK, but the salad needed dressing with olive oil.

This is a wonderful place for a quick, delicious lunch. Everything is fresh & homemade (including the soup!). There are tons of healthy options (hummus & veggie roll up anyone?) and will gladly accommodate any substitutions. With the cool weather soon to be upon us, be sure to check out their soup. You can get a quart for only $5.95!!! And it is SO delicious & filling. They also have a soup & half sandwich combo for $5.75. A big (think Seinfeld) garden salad will only set you back $3.25. Most wraps are in the $4.75 to $5.50 range. I highly recommend the chicken caesar wrap or salad. The smoked turkey club roll up is also amazing. What the menu lacks for size it certainly makes up in quality. Whenever I need to be cheered up, this is the place to go. Not just because of the wonderful food, but also because of the owner Sophie. Once you tell her your name she will never forget it (I don't know how she does it!). As soon as I walk in she greets me with a great big smile and "Oh Melissa! So nice to see you!" A P. is right - Sophie will never forget your name, and she's never served me anything but fresh, tasty meals. And her prices won't break the bank. Please stop in and see Sophie, you won't regret it. The only downside to this place is that there is not much seating, so I usually get it to go.

The soups are great, my favorite is the mushroom puree, it is delicious. The owners are super friendly. I highly recommend them for lunch.

Weird thickening agent added to all the food. I'm not used to chewing broth

A solid place for sandwiches and soups. A little pricy for what you get, but the food is quite good.

As the name "Mercato" implies, it's not a restaurant, so no place to eat, no place to "do your business" after, and if you've made it to the north end, you already know there's no place to park. -- Italian Sandwich: Long, soft bread, kinda like the kind you had in your school cafeteria, only a million times softer, a million times more crackly, and a million times better. Setting the base are oil, balsamic vinegar, lettuce, tomato, pickles, hots, and provolone. Italian sandwiches usually come flat-stacked or in a C-shape. Here, it's a fluffy stack, with the VERY-thin-sliced-to-order meats-- prosciutto, mortadella, salami-- piled generously but delicately, like tissue paper. More oil and balsamic on the other side seals the deal. It's a glorious sandwich that'll fill you up with the first half, but you'll want to keep eating the second half, because it's so good. The deep flavors of the meats comes through, and that's soft, crunchy bread is a delight. Pro tip #1: Get it with a small side of pesto. Have some bites with, some bites without. Pro tip #2 (in more ways than one): Plan your restroom visit at the nearby Boston Public Market. Pro tip #3: Plan your eating near the Paul Revere statue on Hanover Street, at the basketball court down Stillman Street, or on the Greenway down Hanover Street.

However per my cousin, it was absolutely a gamble getting into Monica's due to its popularity. It's your typical Italian deli and stocked with many of yummy bites. I couldn't pass up the burrata special, holy cow, was this fresh. Every bite I wanted more. The balsamic had a lovely twang to it. Super fresh produce and fresh bread!! Can't beat it!
