I spotted this shop while I was out running errands, and on my way back I decided to stop in because I was intrigued. I ordered the orange upside-down cake and it was honestly the best thing I've tasted this year. The consistency was dense but still pillowy, almost like a pound cake. The bottom had a light glazed icing layer, but the top was truly the star of the show. The orange flavor complemented the cake so well, it literally melted on my tongue like butter. And the best part? It wasn't overly sweet at all. Just perfectly balanced. The hostess was very warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. There was no wait time since I was the only person in line when I arrived. Inside there is plenty of booth seating for groups and a large bar seating area that's perfect for solo visits or small parties. Parking in this area can be hit or miss depending on the time of day, but there is a parking lot a couple of blocks away which helps. I will definitely be returning...and singing their praises to anyone who will listen. read more

I recently visited Tatte Bakery & Cafe and overall had a good experience. The space is beautiful, bright, and very inviting. We ordered lattes and a few pastries and everything tasted great. The croissants were flaky and fresh and the latte was excellent. The food quality was exactly what you would expect from Tatte. The only issue was the cashier. She seemed more interested in her conversation with a coworker than helping us. She handed us some of our pastries but forgot the cookies we ordered and did not give us a bag for the desserts. After we waited for a few minutes she looked at us and asked what we were waiting for without saying thank you or acknowledging that the transaction was complete. When we told her we were still waiting for the rest of the pastries we ordered it felt a little awkward. Aside from that, the employees bringing food to the table were very kind, attentive, and pleasant. Overall the food and coffee were excellent. I would come back for the pastries and lattes, but hopefully the front counter service improves. read more

First coffee spot of 2025! They were open on New Years Day normal hours and we were excited to start 2025 off right with a hot cup of joe and delicious pastries! This was within walking distance of our hotel but we drove over since we were on the way out of town and found free parking in the garage across the street. It was pretty crowded around 1pm when we arrived- must have been the lunch rush- but we didn't wait too long and almost placed an order online for in store pickup but ended up ordering at the counter. We ordered a latte, americano, danish, chocolate chip cookie, and coffee caramel mousse. We were given a number and found a seat at the end of a long communal table. The space is light and bright, open concept, plenty of small two tops and window seating as well. Our drinks took a little longer than expected to come out but they were worth the wait. The caramel mousse was delicious- smooth, creamy, and sweet, and the cookie tasted good too. I'm not a fan of danishes but it was alright! This was an enjoyable place to have our first coffee of the year. Good coffee, good food, standard pricing. I would definitely return to try more food and/or brunch! read more

Possibly my favorite spot of our trip! Tatte is located within walking distance of where we stayed while visiting and it did not disappoint. It was nice seeing the bakery items sit out to look. Really wished it had ingredients on the foods. Ordered Ham & Cheese croissant only to see on the screen it had mustard. Gross! Should have ingredients labeled. I switched it to a pizza slice and the girl looked like I ran over her foot. Rolled her eyes and gave attitude. Paid and she walked away leaving us standing there awkwardly. Didn't give us a number or anything. We waited about 10 min just standing there, no one coming over to check on us (everything was sitting on the case shelf). Service was horrible and ruined the whole experience. This was my first time visiting a Tatte bakery. it was packed, but I didn't mind the line went pretty quickly. The downsides were the atrociously long line (although they made the food somewhat quickly), the latte was just so-so in my opinion, the breakfast sandwich I found to be kind of greasy (my friend couldn't finish it), and the veggies on the lamb kebab platter were too.. pickled? The food displays are really super nice and very very tidy. It's probably the one of the best organized locations I've been to with the Tatte chain. There were great options from desserts, coffee, and food of course. My most recent visits have been at the Assembly row location. Super busy even though there are multiple other coffee options in the area. My go to order is the smoked salmon and avocado egg sandwich. UNREAL! I love this breakfast sandwich so much! It has smoked salmon, avocado, red onion, capers, sprouts, scrambled eggs, green herbed dressing on a homemade challah roll. The roll is so soft and the flavors blend perfectly with every bite. I would eat this everyday for breakfast it is so satisfying! My advice would be the earlier you get there the better. Although there are various seating options, they fill up quickly. There are multiple locations sprinkled throughout the Boston area, so it is definitely worth checking out. read more

You order your food and coffee at the counter and then they call out your name/number for your coffee for you to pick up and then they bring out your food to you. The first Tatte I went to was in Washington DC a few months ago so I was excited to find one here in Boston. There is lots of seating available too and they have some outdoor tables too which was nice. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich which is a budget friendly, filling option. I always enjoy having brunch at a Tatte, their menu is the right balance of having enough choices to get something you like and not having too much where it gets overwhelming. I went to this Assembly Row branch during Sunday and it was definitely packed for brunch. It took us a while to find seating so I would recommend coming during the off hours or be prepared to take your food with you. The interior looks like all of the other branches, nothing too special. We got the Lamb Hash, Greek Style Pancakes, and their London Fog Latte. Their hash was delicious and full of great spices flavors. My only wish is that it came with two poached eggs instead of one so that the hash to egg ratio would be more balanced.
