I enjoy this place as the food is fairly good and the price is great. The staff seems very friendly and attentive most times. However, I experienced a different view today. Upon arriving, I noticed the restaurant was very slow. There were several empty seats throughout so I should have any problems finding a set. After gathering my food items, I looked around and noticed all the empty tables were dirty. The staff saw me looking around for a seat but never once asked If I needed anything. In fact, I had to stop a waitress and ask if it would be ok if she cleaned a table for me. The waitress proceeded to clean the table but was not happy about it. After sitting to enjoy my meal, a young man approached the table to take my drink order. Please believe me when I tell you I never saw him again. Once he brought my water with lemons, he never checked on me again. I stayed about 40 minutes just to see how long it would take him to check on me and he never did. My advice would be to train your waitresses and waiter first before asking when you pay if the customer need any change to tip the server. read more

When we checked in to pay, old lady manager with blonde hair left the cash, and was talking to customer for a while, long line had to wait for her to finish her talking till she came back and took our money. Whoa, they do not have the same standards at this francise--old rotten vegetables--slimy grayish wet celery slices for example.... I love the west gray souper salads so much, I decided to find one closer to home--but still 30ish minutes from the clear lake area. Wonderful variety of salad toppings, pasta salads, fruits, soups, pizza, baked potatoes and breads. Everything is fresh and tastes great. The servers are courteous and friendly. The restaurant is clean and inviting. I highly recommend. We eat there very often. read more

New management has this place back to what it used to be......awesome!! My husband and I went in yesterday for lunch and were pleasantly surprised that the entire restaurant had a facelift with much needed new upholstered seating, better employees and overall clean, comfortable atmosphere. Prior to yesterday's visit, we hadn't been in almost 2yrs because we were so grossed out by everything but it's obvious whoever is running things now, really knows what they are doing. i came here today and got a horrible service by the frond desk lady named Karissa. Me and my husband came all the way from Cypress just to come to the Souper Salad here in Pasadena location because we have been here 2 times and we loved here. Today was the most disappointed time that we had when she was the front desk (first impression as well). We came and we said that we had 2 people. She was with a very bad attitude like okay!!!! it was $20 and so with a mad face of her asking us how we wanted to tip the service. Hell no that was gonna be no tips for that kinda service. I don't care if she had a bad day but we didn't do anything to her to be treated that way. If you are mad and don't like your job so stay at home and do not let others affected by your attitude. We eat at this place about 2 times at month. The staff is great. Food is great, lots of choices. But we recently took 2 of our family members with us to eat. This time it was so very dirty. Several tables were dirty. Also they ran out of bowls and where the bowls are held ( stacked ) it was molded. It looked like where wet bowls had been stacked and water had sat. Absolutely disgusting! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! The salad bar is an terrible mess with no thought into the layout (You have to walk around from one side to the other to get to a lot of the items). The ranch dressing has no flavor to it at all (the manager tasted it and said that it was good enough for her). The few other choices they offer are VERY bland VERY VERY low quality items. I understand that you get what you get at a buffet and not to expect much, but this has to be the worst of all time. Do yourself a favor and grab yourself a 3 dollar salad in a bag from HEB and stay home. You will be much more satisfied. I just tried the cauliflower soup and it was actually pretty decent. So I guess the one star that yelp forces you to give is for that. Unless you plan on eating $12 worth of cauliflower soup then stay away. read more

The food here is devoid of any possible flavor, and is a prime example on the age old question quantity or quality. This place may offer a wide selection of things to eat but if all of it taste like ass. Then all the consumer is buying is a chance to eat as much garbage you can stuff in your mouth with. I also went to this place when they reopened and then recently and much to my surprise they were not abiding by the regulations both time I had went and is honestly is just a big Petri dish. Terrible service! I was half way through my meal before seeing someone to get my drink! I wasn't even a quarter way through my tea and server fills my tea. Never saw the server rest of the visit. Told manager but she didn't seem concerned - she just kept talking to some guy. Also, pay extra for a take home cup...of tea - are you serious? I won't be going back! UPDATE: I returned to speak with a different manager and met with the owner. She was very friendly and assured me that steps are being taken to resolve the issue I had and wouldn't happen again. If I could give a negative rating I would. The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired as well as selection. The bar would empty of something and not be refilled. I also saw a child licking the spoon and putting it back in the sour cream, and told them. They went and changed out the spoon, not the container. I was so grossed out I left. My family and I stopped by after church last Sunday. We had a party of 11. We tipped our server in the beginning of our meal. The food was fine the server removed plates and refilled drinks well. But I was very disappointed with the actions of the manager. That's who I assume the caucasian woman with short blonde hair was. As my son and I where leaving she sprinted from behind the register and stopped us at the door. She said " I'm making sure you tipped your server before you leave". My son went out of his way to explain that he had paid the server earlier. I was very upset and expressed how unprofessional that was to confront us that way. I will never go there again. I always go right after the lunch rush (when I decide to go here). It hass always been clean and plenty of fresh food placed for the customers. It's somewhat an odd or unorthodox combination of food served (salad bar, tacos, bread & pizza, etc...). I would suggest to let the customers get their own beverages instead of waitresses. It's a bit pricey for a lunch salad place so it would be nice to save a few bucks and not have to tip a waitress so that I can get my own beverages. But, I know what they serve and I know what to expect. I'm quite happy with my lunches when I visit. read more

I've eaten here at least a dozen times. The selection is above average. On one occasion, the lettuce was wilted. With the exception of that visit, I've always had a great experience. My children love eating at this restaurant, because there are healthy choices and many varieties from which to choose. However, I am disappointed that they've done away with their delicious potato salad. It was one of the things I most enjoyed at this salad bar. I have submitted to them some suggestions I think would improve their taco bar and soup selection. I prefer creamy soups, like potato or creamy chicken & dumplings, etc. Also, turning the temperature down on the warming pans would be most appreciated, as I currently have to give my soup 10 minutes to cool before enjoying it. The taco bar would be exceptionally good if they offered corn tortillas in addition to flour and taco shells. Also, some inexpensive chicken fajita meat would be a delightful addition. The price of the bar is a little high for the selections they currently offer, but with my suggestions they could bring their service up to par with the price and benefit the company by the improvement in profits. read more

I'll never eat here again. Tonight, my husband and I started going through the buffet and I looked over and saw my husband shoveling beans out and putting them on the buffet table. I wondered what in the world he was doing until a bug came crawling out of the beans. I killed the bug before it disappeared so I could show the girl at the register. When she came over for us tell her what happened a manager took over the register and my husband went to tell him what happened and request a refund. The worst thing about the incident was they didn't bother to ask which item the bug was in so they could remove it and there was no way of knowing how many other items it had been in. read more
