From what I saw, if you can't find your sweet desire here, you don't need it. They also take pride in making their chocolate on premises. During this visit, I purchased raspberry and rum cream chocolates. Every chocolate was heavenly and I should have purchased fifty more. The staff maintains the store very clean, wear plastic gloves when selecting your choices, and the prices are reasonable. Don't hesitate to visit Meyer's and I'll hedge, that you won't leave the store without a sweet purchase.

They have so many options once you walk into the store you smell chocolate everywhere. It's like chocolate overload absolutely smells delicious. They have chocolate pretzels and chocolate bars chocolate shaped, so many different ways the pictures don't do it justice. The staff extremely friendly helpful, answered all the questions that I had. It's a great place to get gifts for all kind of occasions the birth of a new baby a new job. They also have other types of candy like jellybeans, large assortment of those they have gummy's. They even have popcorn, which I think you see in of my pictures just lots of choices and options. THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Lots of variety and delicious homemade chocolates to choose from behind the counter - too many to mention - but there's a hugeeeeee assortment of milk, white and dark chocolates. + Approximately $27/lb (as of February 2026) depending on the size of assorted chocolates box you want to purchase. 1lb is about 30+ pieces of chocolate, which is PLENTY to enjoy!! + There are plenty of prepackaged chocolate boxes/packs to choose from too. + Chocolate sampling seems to be allowed here, if you choose to do so. + Private parking lot to the side, which is greatly appreciated in this busy area of River Edge. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Nada. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Was preeeetttty busy the day before Valentine's Day 2026. Parking lot was packed, but there were still plenty of chocolates to add to a box from behind the counter. Prepackaged items were running low though.

That's why I recently spent nearly $70 on chocolate roses to give as gifts. When I got home, I realized they were actually made by Madelaine Chocolate Company -- a brand sold on Amazon -- not made in-house. Even more disappointing, a Critchley's sticker had been placed over the original branding, which made it appear they were their own product. After tasting one, it definitely didn't resemble the quality of their homemade chocolate. It tasted like a mass-produced bar. Had I known they weren't made by Critchley's, I would not have purchased them -- especially in that quantity. Transparency matters, especially when customers are intentionally choosing to support local. Gave two stars because the chocolates that they DO make are good. Really disappointing experience. Hoping they address this.

A few things appeared to have been stored away and sorta looks as if it's kinda shoved to the side. For example : soft serve machine. Not sure if some things are placed there because not in season purposes? I wanted candy corn, my husband got a rootbeer. We were both satisfied with what we got. All payments accepted. Parking is available along the side street. Friendly service.

So when I saw one opening in Kingston almost a decade ago I just shrugged and kept going. After learning Dianne Reeder's story you realize this isn't your ordinary candy store. Yes they have over 400 kinds of candy you can buy in bulk and the store has your typical kitschy trinkets but if you look deeper it's where you find Diane's passion and empathy for others. She just wants to make your day a little easier and for you to leave happier than you came. Certainly this isn't hard when you're scooping Janes Ice cream and serving vegan homemade soft serve using Fruition chocolate and coconut milk. Even this is fairly common place in a world over run by NYC transplants expecting everything to be homemade and gluten free. Where Dianne is different, is her commitment to community. In 2005, Diane was the winner of the Microsoft/Bill Gates Start Something Amazing Award (a program honoring the unique and inspiring ways that people use Microsoft related technology to pursue their everyday passions) for her work bringing attention to food insecurity. Her passion for cooking and her desire to help others led her to find a nonprofit organization called The Queens Galley in Kingston. The work she did with the Kingston Farmers Market was instrumental in getting them to accept food stamps. Diane's mission to have people come together and break bread in dignity has now spread across the country. Her commitment even landed her a diner at the Whitehouse with President Obama. To add to her resume she graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park while raising 3 kids and running the candy bar. But let's get to the point. Diane is a pillar of the community where everybody knows her name. But what about the food? Just sitting outside snacking on my freshly roasted nuts (still warm) sipping on my 72hr steeped Lavazza cold brew I'd say simply perfect. Don't miss the carrot cake doughnut topped with maple walnuts and stuffed with macerated pineapple. The passion fruit and blackberry parfait or those rainbow cookie tricolor doughnuts. They have a sweet for everyone! Kingston Candy Bar might not be the hippest spot on the block but the love Diane puts into her work is palpable.
