Always saw this empanada stand at the Tarrytown farmers market (have not gone to their actual restaurant). I was sick of the usual breakfast options and saw them set up, so decided to kick this a try. I love empanadas, and the only reason I hadn't tried it yet was because it was relatively pricey. They were nice and got me packed up quick. Got a chicken and a beef empanada. For the first time ever, I preferred the chicken to the beef. Not that the beef was bad, it was also solid, however the chicken was a cut above. With a bit of salsa, this was a much better lunch than usual. Would do this again if they show up early, now that I know they know how to cook! read more

This is my new favorite place! Delicious flaky baked empanadas. I've had the chicken and cheese, beef and cheese and guava with cheese. The owner is very friendly but they're only open 3 days a week. It's also a very tiny establishment so don't plan on dining there. read more

So yea we ordered empanadas again maybe a week or two after the first try. This time we had dessert! I recommend all the sweet empanadas but I think the guava ones are the most unique if you want to choose just one. Also tried a spinach and artichoke empanada. It was delicious! The interior of this gem has been updated and the decor matches the warmth you feel from the owner and her delicious empanadas! You can truly taste the love that Joyce puts into these hand-held bundles of scrumptiousness. The daily availability varies if you pop into the shop but if you call ahead, she'll have whatever you're craving ready for you within the hour (perhaps even sooner depending on how busy she is). Very good empanadas, small operation, she cares highly about the quality of her hand made food, and there is a great selection of rotating fillings. I got the mushroom, and chicken/bacon/cheese. I could eat the mushroom all day, the filling is reduced down so much it gives the empanada a meaty quality. The chicken was not dry at all and the bacon was crispy. The dessert empanadas were also great, guava thanks/cheese and the guava/Brie we're savory and slightly sweet, delicious. read more

Adding further insult to injury, social media is regularly showing me pictures of pork butt being expertly roasted, bacon dripping, cheese melting, this week's lunch special... and then you have all the people commenting how much the love them and can't wait to come back tomorrow for more... Like, I have to wait till visiting family during the holidays to go get mine... We were throwing a last minute pool party on a Friday night and decided empanadas would be an awesome thing to serv. We contacted Joyce and she was incredibly responsive and despite having a 1 week order ahead rule, accommodated us with 6 trays!!she was so helpful in making suggestions and letting me know how to best serve them. i cant describe how delicious they were!! They were an absolute hit at the party with everyone raving about them! We even had a few empanada connoisseurs and they were like "ok these are PERFECTION"!
