Source Farmhouse Brewery is located on an old 19th century dairy farm, and opened in 2019. Some serious money went into renovating the barn and property in general, and it now boasts one of the most beautiful and spacious taprooms in NJ. There is tons of space outside with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs everywhere, plus many tables inside. The upstairs mezzanine and terrace are both 21+ for those who need a break from the kids and families. I've read that it gets packed with families on weekends in nice weather. My girlfriend and I came on a late afternoon on a Friday in August and it wasn't that crowded yet. It was no problem ordering beer but I could see how it could become an issue with the limited space at the bar area. We each tried a few 7 oz. pours of a few different beers and really like what we had. The blueberry milkshake IPA was inventive and delicious, the Ultra Strata and the Ultra Cashmere were both smooth and outstanding, and the Fat Elvis... Oh my goodness. What a wild ride that one is. Sweet, thick, decadent, and just oh so dangerously good. The taplist was vast, inventive and full of variety, with some styles that are hard to find at the average NJ brewery. I wish I could have sampled more but I never would have made it home safely if I had. Between the excellent beer and the incredible atmosphere, this place ranks high on our list of NJ breweries. read more

Some of the beer has been pretty good. However, if you decide to make a "Back the Blue" style IPA (the worst style you guys make, just FYI) you should expect a decent amount of pushback. Know that Colts Neck is a bubble. If you're simply catering to the dullards going to golf at Hitler's Links next door, you could lay it in a little thicker. Make a nice wink out of it, something like a "I sit in the chair at the hotel and watch" Cherries and Berries sour. If this is really who you are - I will miss your decent lagers but Wild Air has you beat on most styles. Definitely a place for beer likers not many options for people who don't like beer. I've been here a couple times now. The parking lot is always crazy and you typically have to park closer down near delicious Orchard to get a spot. We saw that they had Prosecco on the menu on the website, but it turns out that was at their other location. We then opted for the seltzer which we brought outside with us. I guess there were some kind of kids event today cause the place was packed with kids and there were no seats anywhere. Waited online to go to the bathroom and once inside it was a mess, toilet paper, and towels everywhere. Unfortunately we hated our seltzers and since there was nowhere to sit, we just put them down and ended up leaving. Not the type of spot for us we have learned. read more

This brewery in Colts Neck is definitely a spot worth checking out. It's a really great place to relax or hang out with friends. It has a slightly upscale feel while still being comfortable and welcoming. The beers are well-crafted, and you can tell there's a lot of attention to detail in both the flavors and presentation. I tried a few different options, and while most were really enjoyable, a couple didn't stand out as much as I expected. That said, there's still a strong variety, and it's a great place to explore different styles. Overall, it's a great brewery with a solid lineup and an awesome environment. This is a great spot to stop in for a beer or two, or to spend the afternoon. Their beer has really grown on me since they opened a few years back. They have ~20 beers on tap and there really is something for everyone. The staff is top notch, always respectful and very engaging and friendly. The property itself is beautiful with a downstairs kid and dog friendly area, along with all of outside being kid/dog friendly as well. They even have an upstairs area which is adults only, no pets. This place is very family friendly, just a little too crazy for me on a busy summer weekend with all the kids, but it's clearly working for them, it's just my opinion as someone who only comes in with my wife and dog. Bring your own food if you'd like but they have one of the better chips, pretzels, etc selections you will find a brewery. We stopped in twice this weekend after not having been in about a year and we're glad to work it back into the rotation! read more

Great place, ample seating and very friendly staff!!! Lots of beers to choose from - multiple lagers, pilsners, IPAs, stout and other brews. There is no sampler but you can get small pours of different beers. There is also a distillery as well in front of the brewery if you are in mood for some cocktails. We stopped on our way to Jersey shore and really liked it. They have an inside the taproom with 2 floors seating (above floor is adults only) with rooftop terrace, front yard patio, backyard biergarten with Adirondack chairs and community benches. They have packed snacks for purchase and food trucks on weekends. There are many board games and corn hole to keep you entertained while you sip and enjoy beers. This is one of my Husband's favorite brewery in the state. We drive over an hour to get here. The place is always busy so try and get there when it first opens. Staff members are always very pleasant and helpful. Beer rotation changes regularly. Cans are limited and have to preorder the popular ones. Love the decor of the farmhouse. I love this because my toddler loves to make new friends! But equally as important, they reserve the second floor and roof deck for adults only, so they can enjoy all that Source has to offer without all the kiddy chaos! They have indoor space, two picnic table areas outside, a back patio, and a lawn with adarondak chairs and corn hole that are all family and pet friendly; plus an upstairs loft and balcony for adults only. We celebrated my husband's birthday here on Saturday afternoon, and were able to snag two shaded picnic tables on the lawn without a reservation. They are BYO-Food and usually seem to have a food truck. They are always dropping new beers which is kinda good, but kinda not if you're looking to get something you had previously. None of the beers in my three visits here have totally wowed me, but the ambience and space make it a spot to check out regardless. Cans to go are available for purchase, but you cannot buy mixed 4-packs. Their sign is hard to see when you're arriving, so be on the lookout. Source is one of the best breweries in NJ, hands down.  First, the beer itself is amazing and they have an expansive menu with lagers, stouts, IPAs, sours...there's literally something for everyone. They even have fruity beers, if that's your thing. Sometimes with a larger variety of beers, breweries can miss the mark but we haven't found that to be the case at Source - everything is top notch. Second, the brewery itself is awesome. The inside is a decent size but if you have kids, plan strategically. If you have to be inside know that kiddos are only allowed in the downstairs area and tables that can accommodate little ones are scarce. However, with the nicer weather on it's way, their outside area is huge and perfect for everyone especially those arriving with children. There's plenty of space to run in the grass to get out their energy and all the kids often play together.  If you're not a fan of breweries looking like day cares, Source offers two areas that are adult-only. The upstairs inside which also includes an outdoor deck and the lower area outside with comfier chairs/couches and fire pits. My biggest gripe is the parking situation. Finding a legal parking spot on a nice day is like driving on the Parkway and NOT having a Dodge Ram or Ford F-150 riding your ass...it's highly unlikely. There IS a large grassy area next to Source that you'll often see people schlepping across after parking on the side street. As much as I love nature and grass, Source listen up...that area isn't paradise - put up a parking lot. Overall, you won't be disappointed - there's something for everyone. A very impressive, beautifully built two-story microbrewery unfortunately lacking in beer selections and out of IPAs on Friday! I'll start by saying that it appears to me that the emphasis in building this microbrewery was on the interior and the experience of the facility. And not necessarily on the beer. I'll just start by saying it's a cardinal sin not to have any IPAs early on a Friday night for a weekend! The IPA is the most popular craft brew format in the United States. I was surprised to see only one listed and already sold out with a whole weekend still in front of them! Very disappointed! Moving onto the beers that were present, I just wasn't impressed with any of them unfortunately. The source of light was my favorite and not bad. The porters I did not find appealing. Again, I think this place is really about the atmosphere and less about the beers. However the atmosphere is great! It's a two-story building with a beautiful second floor with different games you can play and tables set up throughout. I really thought it was gorgeous inside. But beer is what we're looking for! I'll be back in if they offer more IPAs and improve the flavor of the beers I'll raise the ratings. I hope they do. read more

Monmouth county has some of the best breweries in the state and Source is no exception. For beer and atmosphere alone - this brewery has earned their five stars. We've all been to the breweries tucked away in an industrial complex or the main street breweries where parking can be a royal pain in the behind. Well, that ain't the case here! Source is located on a beautiful property, that overlooks the farm that it sits on, along with Colts Neck Stillhouse. There is plenty of space on the property for larger groups and kids as well as a ground level patio and upstairs patio (adults only). As far as beer goes, I've had nothing short of fantastic. The beers are fresh and pack a serious flavor punch. I have yet to have a bad IPA and have really started liking sours because of these guys. It may feel a bit upscale but a buddy and I once brought White Castle here (we're trash and proud of it) and the staff loved it. Looking forward to bringing more friends and family here. read more

We decided to get Kanaka Maoli Punch which I loved and we also got Strawberry Drizzle which we weren't a fan of. It's listed as tarte but to us it just tasted sour. Service was really on top of things! We had people checking up on us, taking away our glasses, which I feel like at a brewery, doesn't really happen much. They don't have flights, but they allow you to sample whatever's on tap before making your selection. I'm not a big beer person but I was glad to see they had a couple of sours! Loved this brewery! I may have even loved the physical space more than the beer! The whole brewery looks brand new. It has a spacious second floor (indoors and outdoors) and a large back area on the first floor to let the puppers runs loose. I could have spent hours here. The beers are up to snuff as well. Good mix of IPAs and other styles. I was able to grab a caramel macchiatoesque stout that was excellent. People working the taps know what's up and can point you in the right direction. I noticed they do pickup orders of cans through their website as well. I do not live nearby but I may bring the family next time just to hang out....and grab beers for home. I had no idea this place was here. It is a cool place that looks like a refurbished farm. The lawn in the back has lawn chairs and benches for everyone to lounge out. There are a lot of kids here but they aren't bothering anyone. The beer is good and locally brewed. They have half and full sizes but not for all beers. The beer tasted like beer so didn't stick out to me but I am no expert. A few people were coming to pick up 12 packs so they must be doing something right. How have I never reviewed my favorite New Jersey brewery ? This is an awesome spot. It's a farmhouse and so pretty. There is a ton of room. Inside. Outside. Upstairs. Downstairs. Kiddos and dogs are welcome and have plenty of room to wander and play. Parking can be tough since it gets very busy but you can park at the market a few steps away. There is no food on the premises so you will want to pack some snacks. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. They can recommend brews and let you sample. And speaking of beer ... the brews are the star ! The source consistently pumps out new and interesting brews. Every Friday they do a can drop and you want to be on that mailing list for sure.
