It's nice to know that I have a winery local to me! Fox Hollow Vineyards is located in Holmdel, NJ. I visited on a warm Sunday in August with a group of ladies from a social club I'm apart of. There's several different seating areas indoors and outdoors. They have a few different areas where you can purchase drinks as well. Inside, you can order food. I decided to go with a white wine flight and a Margherita pizza. The pizza was okay, nothing spectacular, but it was satisfying. I enjoyed the wine and the ambiance of the place. HOLMDEL: We were long overdue for another visit to Fox Hollow Vineyards and, wow, it is even more stunning than before! The recent updates made us feel like we have been transported straight to California wine country. Leashed and friendly dogs are welcome, and there are three levels of fun to explore while enjoying incredible wine, food, and live entertainment. The staff shared that doggy guests can relax in the indoor patio, the flower-filled outdoor patio, or out on the lawn with picnic tables and games. For wine and food from the main menu, head inside to order, but do not miss the extra spots offering unique treats like the brown sugar cider float, spritzers, BBQ, and a market area with more bites, drinks, and souvenirs. Management really prioritizes a relaxing experience for everyone, so be sure to check out their policies on the website before your visit. We loved the brown sugar cider float, Cayuga White, and the meze platter, all delicious! I visited Fox Hollow for the first time when some gals and I met up here for our book club meeting. This place is such a vibe, I can't believe I never came here earlier. We came at 11:30am on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a lot of available parking spots and seating options. The person who took our orders was very friendly, and she was able to give us several recommendations. I got the Derby White, which was on the slightly sweeter side, which I enjoyed. We also ordered a gourmet NJ cheese platter and the creamy burrata w/ toasted baguette. Tbh I thought the food items were quite expensive considering how much you get. There were two levels-- we went to the lower one where there was live music and some games. We had so much fun listening to the music, enjoying the view, snacking and drinking, and playing one of the board games from the register. I would definitely come again! read more

I'm finally getting myself up to write this review. On May 2nd, this place that was once my go to winery and where I've purchased numerous cases of wines became such a disappointment. Prior to this day I called about coming with a group of ppl, even though website mentions no groups I was told able to come just arrive early. I got there early and asked to sit inside as it was a bit chilly. I was told with my size of party of 19 he could not accommodate. He offered putting tables together outside, I agreed that would be fine. Let me mention, absolutely no one patrons were there and we would only be 2 hours. After being there for 45 minutes. I was paying for all the tastings, at the same time my group pulled. They were stopped at the door and told they were not allowed to come in and needed to leave. They instructed the lady not to take my payment. And yes we were a group of Black women. All professionals having a women's wellness weekend where the honoree was the mother of LeBron James. I was told, "I don't think this is the place for you". Again the place was empty. I was left with 19 women standing in the parking lot. No way you can't tell me this was not racial! Me or any of my friends will never go here again and I will be sure to spread the word! So unfortunate!! To the 2 ladies who apologized for the way the guys treated us, thank you. The silver lining to this situation was 4JG Orchards, who after a phone call welcomed us and service was amazing! A local winery that is a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon. The grounds are very pretty and there are plenty of tables with umbrellas to block the afternoon sun as well as fire pits which I'm sure will be great for chilly visits. It is a find your own table vineyard where we were able to listen to some music from a live band. There is a choice for wine tastings or buying individual glasses of wine. ($12-14) We chose individual glasses which you need to order from a walk up wine bar where we also ordered a cheese box ($25) You need to carry yourself to your table, no servers. The wines? It's NJ. The wines are drinkable, what we expected. Thinking the Whites are better but we didn't sample. read more

Beautiful winery with lovely staff! I had a wonderful time here except for one thing. It's a really large piece of property on a hill. I feel they can have their ordering system a bit more organized. If you're seated in the picnic tables down the hill and order food, you have to go uphill to pick it up. Also, wine flights can only be ordered uphill, downhill are the spritzers. What would be best is if they have QR code on the tables and you can order that way. If we were sitting uphill, we would've never known spritzers are downhill for example. That said, I really did enjoy their wines. I had a sweet wine flight which came with a complementary glass. I also had their Italian spritzer. As for food, they have a decently large menu for a winery. I had the grilled chicken wrap which was good and served warm. Went to fox hollow vineyards on saturday. It was very packed. There was a lot of people who came out. There was a $5 entrance fee cash only. There's not really any structure, you kind of just make your way around independently. The vineyard Itself looked beautiful. It had an area where people lay down and can do a picnic. There were also some outdoor games. It appeared to be dog friendly since a lot of people brought their dogs. I paid $16 for the sweet wine tasting flight. The wines were in these plastic shot glasses essentially and it came with oyster crackers on the side. I only like 2 out of the 4 wines on the flight. But even so, there wasn't any wines that stuck out to me. I would probably need to try a different selection of wines. I wasn't able to try the food because the lines were really long and I didn't feel like going through the hassle. Scenery wise it looks amazing. I think it's a great place to come and have a relaxing day with friends or by yourself. I just wouldn't come on a saturday because of the amount of people. read more

As soon as it gets warm out, I get that itch to visit Fox Hollow. Whether you're a big fan of wine or just want to grab a bite outside, Fox Hollow always satisfies any crowd I come with. From the second you come in, the staff is always so kind and helpful, especially if you choose to try a wine tasting experience. I personally can't wait for their White Derby wine to be for sale each year and adore the labels they come packaged with. They make great gifts as well! When I'm not wine tasting, I love to sit out on the lawn or at the fire pits to enjoy the live music they offer on weekends with a personal pie/pretzels that are on the more expensive side, but most definitely very satisfying. I also love how dog-friendly this spot is, as there are so limited spots you can enjoy frozen wine and bring your dog to. read more

What a wonderful night we had here at the vineyard. Weather was perfect, the band, "Castles in the sky " played cover tunes for all genres, people were having a good time, there was some dancing and a lot of happy people. And that was before too much wine was consumed, we were early. lol. Our first encounter was at the outside wine booth. Where we met Kelly, a beautiful young lady who was fairly new, but she was attentive and informational even tho new. As we laid into our evening, we were served at the inside flight wine bar by Patti. Another friendly face. And speaking of friendly, a gentleman customer started up a conversation and we talked about local restaurants, bars and other fun stuff. Toward the end of our stay we realized the winery had a great sale on some wines. Something like $8 a bottle, cases only. We did a couple of mixed flights to get a taste and met Johnathan, the manager, we had a few questions. He was sincerely a nice gentleman, answered all of questions professionally and that resulted in us buying two cases of their wines that we liked. Overall a great experience. Clean, friendly, not over the top expensive. We enjoyed the outside tables on the band deck. The music was good, weather perfect and an all a good time. Definitely a place to have repeat visits, especially when out of towners come. No need to drive a hundred miles to experience what we have right here in our own backyard. Very good atmosphere during good weather. They have a decent selection of wines. They provide live music on weekends and have remodeled the downstairs (outdoor) area with additional tables, games like corn hole, and thee is an inside room down there now where you can buy and taste wines. I'll add to this when I don't have my dog and can go inside there. The servers there are all very personable and recommend according to your likes of wine (as they all should, but some places do not have the knowledge they should). So as usual this is one of the most beautiful winery's around. From the layout to the seating to the views it's spectacular. But I wouldn't be helping you guys out if I didn't tell you about some of the changes. The first time I came here I did a tasting with some friends and we got to pick wines from all over the menu . That has changed. They give you specific flights you can choose from now. I'm not a fan of this because I like to have a selection of dry and sweet and now I feel like you have to choose 4 of the same tasting things. To be honest, it was much colder up there than I anticipated. It's on a hill and was about 5 degrees cooler than Old Bridge. No interaction, no explanation of vintage, grape, region, process... anything. You come, you pay, you drink your flight. This would not be a place we return to. Fox Hollow is a lovely place. I have been here a few times now when visiting my aunt who lives nearby. It's especially nice on the weekends when it's warm out as they have a large outdoor area and often have live music. All ordering takes place at the counter - there is no table service. Tips are cash only but they do take cards for purchases. I'm impressed with how much their food menu has expanded since I first started coming here. Their pretzels are super delicious - be sure to get those. I typically order various roses. I've also tried some of their red wines, frozen rose, and mulled wine on different occasions. It would be nice if you could open bottles on premises but I'm assuming there may be a specific reason that they don't offer that. Perhaps it's not allowed by law? I'm not sure. Their glasses of wine (and bottles) can be a bit pricey though. All of the workers I have come across here have been super friendly and knowledgable about their products. I also love that FHV is dog friendly - my aunt has several Golden Retrievers which we bring here on occasion and are always a hit with the workers as well as other customers. Although they're only allowed outside - no longer inside as they used to be - this may be due to the increased food menu. This winery was a fun place to stop. They close early at 6:30pm on Saturdays with live music from 2-5. We got there just after 5 so we missed the music, but the drummer in the band was closing up and was super friendly and chatted with us for a bit. To drink on site, you can only order wines by the glass. They have bottles for purchase, but they are only for taking home. Tastings end at 5:30 so we were able to squeeze in an order. We got one regular tasting and one chocolate tasting to share. For the tastings, you have to sit inside. The price includes a souvenir wine glass. The wines in the chocolate tasting were all very sweet. I was surprised because I felt the chocolate would have paired better with drier offerings. The chocolate was really good though and I enjoyed quite a few of the ganache fillings. For the regular tasting, they have about 20 different wines to choose from. They provide a sheet with helpful descriptions. One of the employees was kind enough to note the wines that were in the chocolate tasting so we could make sure not to repeat any, which was really appreciated. The staff here were very friendly. They have a ton of outdoor seating and lots of umbrellas for shade on sunny days. The view of the grounds was very pretty and they have some lovely flowers near the tasting section, which made for some nice pictures. 4.5 Stars! On Friday March 19th, We spent a delightful sunny afternoon at Fox Hollow Vineyards. The winery had dessert wine and chocolate flights available for $22.00 pp. A Fox Hollow Vineyard glass was included. The riesling was my favorite. You could also purchase the chocolate online at www.chocolatelegends.com. Wines were available by the glass too. Beth assisted us with wines. We had the 2018 Barrel Aged Chardonnay and the 2019 Cabernet Franc by the glass.. These wines we had were on the dry side. The Barrel Aged Chardonnay was very interesting. It had a very lemony taste. We did enjoy a cheese box for two ($12.00) too! Lots of outdoor seating was available. Additional seating was available around fire pits. A large parking lot is available. A bug flew right into one of our cups as we were being handed our flight, and instead of replacing it, the lady helping us just handed us a napkin and told us to fish it out ourselves and explained, "this is what happens when you go camping", but we're at a winery? It's a shot glass of wine and a bug was swimming in it why is it so difficult to replace. That was a huge turn-off. Flight comes in weird shot glasses and isn't presented nicely at all along with the food, eat before you come here. Between the rudeness and poor customer service, we will not return. I think the reviews for this place are lowered due to complaints that they don't allow children, and due to service. I can only say that I have been here twice during COVID restrictions, and both times we have felt very comfortable and had a wonderful time. First- if you are taking kids to a Vineyard, do your research in advance. Many places do allow children, but this one prefers to keep a more quiet adult experience. Just respect it and find a place more suitable for children. Second- we came only during off peak hours. It was peaceful and the views were beautiful. We ordered our food from the desk, and the food/drinks were served promptly. They have good COVID protocols in place (markings for distancing between seats, QR code menu, signage on distancing and masks). Food-we didn't eat the first time. During our second visit we had the jalapeño grilled cheese and caprese sandwich. Both were very good. The grilled cheese with the touch of spiciness was delicious. Wine- Well, I am not a wine connoisseur. I just enjoy a nice glass (or in the case of my last visit, cup of hot mulled wine) enjoying the outdoors views. Dogs are allowed outside. I've only come here once so that is what my experience is based on, but boy was it crowded! One of the downsides is that you can't order wine by the bottle, so when the line is 30 min long like the day I went, it takes away from the experience. I would definitely try to avoid peak times so you can actually enjoy the vineyard and get enough drinks! I did the wine tasting and this was very nice. Tried to stop in today around 3:30 pm. Walked up to a somewhat rude ID checker. Showed her my ID in my group and then when I walked away she asked if she had seen my ID, to which I said yes and she said I don't remember and made me show it again. I'm 37, and this isn't Bar A at the jersey shore. I can appreciate doing your job but a little common sense may be in order. Especially after badgering the lady in front of us for her ID (50+) and making 100% sure she wasn't smuggling in any food, which she clearly wasn't. Walked in the line was 100 people deep MINIMUM. Immediately left. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that is ready for a crowd on one of the last fall Saturdays we may have. Outdoor was very nice too with live music and a couple of firepits. The only not so great points of this experience was the lack of options in the food department (special meats to go with wine and cheese) Regarding the wine, all the wine on the tasting was very young and dry, even the reds lack smoothness and body.
