Very delicious beer! Such an open space as well to bring friends along. First time here and definitely will be back!!

OCEANPORT: we love Birdsmouth Beer, not only because they are dog friendly, but also because of the calming atmosphere. Their neutral tones, wood picnic tables, warm Edison lights, and a cozy couch make it a pleasant place to hang out. Who knew this used to be the commissary for Fort Monmouth?! Leashed dogs are allowed to join you inside for one of many lager-themed beers. There is also ping pong and board games. Bring your own food and have a fun afternoon with friends.

A Lager-only brewery at the old Commissary in Fort Monmouth just opened on October 15th. It's a great area and timing for this newly opened venue. Things are looking up in this area now that Netflix might be moving here in the near future. Will keep fingers crossed on that. Staff seems very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable and only four lagers available presently. Check my foto. Also there are no flights served, maybe that will change down the road. But you can taste any one of the above four. Tables with benches and stand up tables for the customers make this a warm place to co-mingle. They offer cornhole and ping pong. There are tours at designated hours. Plenty of parking available. Still as with most breweries, no food served, not yet anyway. Takeouts available.

As a beer snob, this place takes the cake. Perfect space and ambience. Solid selection of beers they nail perfectly. One of the better pilsners and dark lagers I've had in years.

The last time I stepped into this building, I was around 14 years old. I was a bagger at the Commissary. Thanks Jermaine for taking care of me and my buddy. What a great place and such great beer!

    Happy dog. Happy life!

Wild Air makes me think of your Gen X punk uncle, older but still happy bucking trends and sticking it to the man. Lovely corner building seven blocks from the beach. Spacious inside with booths, tables and a long bar, plus an old VW Bus of all things. Lots of open space where they host live music from bands you've never heard of unless you're entrenched in the local music scene. Looking at their set up and their Instagram almost makes it feel like a concert venue that also happens to make beer. Speaking of: there are 14 beers on tap plus one hard seltzer. Most places will go all in on IPAs and pale ales, while this place seems to be the opposite. They only offer two IPAs (a hazy and a double) while the rest of the taplist is made up of pilsners (Italian, west coast, New Zealand, etc.) and lagers (a smoked lager, a Japanese rice lager, etc.). A red ale, a fruited sour ale and a gose with lime round out the list. It's quite an impressive taplist, and everything we tried was good. We live pretty far away and were just visiting Asbury Park for the day, but we would definitely come back if we're ever in the area again.

Had a great time here playing trivia and trying out the beer selection. They have a fine assortment…read moreof interesting lagers, pilsners, and IPAs, and even a "rauchbier" - a "smoked" beer that I expected to taste like a peaty Scotch or a mezcal, but it was sweeter and more toasty than that. The place looks plain on the outside, but the interior decor is surprisingly quirky. Service is friendly. Prices are low. Definite thumbs up.

Sometimes you just need a cold beer and a bite, and Triumph delivered on both fronts. The space itself sets the tone nicely. Raw wood beams, big glass garage door-style windows flooding the room with light, and a mix of modern and rustic that somehow manages to feel like both at once. Green plants are positioned throughout, around the bar and seating areas, adding just the right amount of warmth throughout. The space is generous too; a large bar anchors the room with plenty of big tables spread throughout. It could clearly handle a crowd. It's the kind of place that makes you want to settle in. The service matched the vibe. Our bartender was attentive from the start, and at one point a second bartender passing by stopped to check if we needed to place an order. When we told him we were already taken care of, he smiled and moved on. Small moment, but it says something about the culture of a place. I started with the Baltic Porter, a solid pint, dark and roasty with that smoothness the style calls for. Good, but it was the second beer that really got my attention. I noticed the bartender working a hand pump and knew right then I'd be having their Pub Ale next. That's the real deal right there; a true cask pour is a rarity, and this one showed why it's worth seeking out. The ale was alive in a way you just don't get from a CO2 tap, soft carbonation with layers of flavor that opened up as it warmed slightly in the glass. It was genuinely awesome. For food we kept it light, a couple of snacks to set ourselves up for the rest of the evening. My partner had the falafel; fresh, nicely seasoned, with real crunch and plenty of accoutrements to keep things interesting. It was exactly the kind of bite that tides you over without weighing you down. I went with a special: Weisswurst. It was juicy and flavorful; served on a nice bun with mustard and the expected trimmings. My only gripe was the portion size, could've used just a bit more sausage. The real surprise was the side of housemade chips, which were exceptional. The kind of thing you find yourself reaching for long after you've finished everything else. Unfortunately, we arrived just as a band was packing up, but according to the schedule posted on the wall, they have live music quite a few days a week. All in all Triumph was the perfect setup for our little mid-winter getaway.
