This is definitely one of the most popular spots on the island!! It's a perfect lunch spot on the beach. We enjoyed lunch and drinks after getting to the area before being able to check in to the hotel. The owner was an asshole. I was at the beach and came in to pick up the food I had ordered. An older man who was greeting people, who turned out to be the owner, had a tantrum because I walked in with my soda cup. I feel sorry for his employees if that's how he treats people. I'll definitely never go back. It was a horrible experience. He yelled at me and threw me out in front of everyone very unprofessional. All he had to do was ask me nicely to throw away the cup before entering, or even better have a sign not to come in with outside beverages. read more

This is a nice waterfront restaurant in charming Boca Grande. Our group of 6 happened to be there for the stunning sunset, see pic. My group decided the salads were the best food on the menu. I had the Boca Summer Salad with scallops. This fresh salad had sweet juicy strawberries, goat cheese, dried cranberries and a raspberry lime vinaigrette that brought the dish together. It has about 6 nice sized scallops which had a good sear but were cold. Perhaps they were supposed to be cold, but this definitely affected the flavor. Husband had the Baked Seafood Gratin which he was not excited about. He wondered if the crab was imitation. Also the bite of lobster I had was definitely overcooked. The Asiago bread was delicious. This restaurant seemed like a great idea based on the location and the amazing view... Neither one of us was super hungry and so we just chose to split a breakfast burrito and we were surprised to see a $3 charge that is a fee for " sharon"... I have heard of this before, What really bothered us is the lack of transparency. We were very clear to the waitress that we are going to share and the waitress failed to disclose that there is a sharing fee... I think that's ridiculous and as a result that waiters got $3 less in her tip... In our opinion, the food was overpriced relative to the quality... I have not been to the South Beach Grill since pre Hurricane Ian. Ian wiped them out, took 2 years to rebuild, then Milton hit, so great that they survived, amazing! Tonight we decided to give it another chance and walked in to order take out and was met with a very rude host and told they would not take any take out orders. No apologies or consideration as they turned us away. Least friendly bar I have ever been to. From the older man seating people to the waitress that came to my table, they both seemed really annoyed that I was there. I left rather than deal with such an unpleasant environment. I have been to South Beach twice. This is my last time. The first time the food was mediocre with small portions and over priced. It is a great place to see the sunset, but so is Gasparilla Island Light House. Do yourself a favor. Get some food to go in the main square and go sit on the beach at the Light House. Had a very unpleasant seating experience. The hostess informed us that the many empty tables throughout the restaurant were "reserved for customers ordering full dinners"--at 3:40pm. Not a great way to treat your local customers. We simply wanted to enjoy cocktails and appetizers at one of the outdoor tables, but instead, a clearly inexperienced hostess (seemingly an on-the-job student) seated us in a tucked-away corner, stating it was our only option--or the full bar, which didn't even have adequate seating for our party of four. I would understand if the restaurant were full or if I were alone, but there were empty tables everywhere. It's summer, after all. Ordered the fried shrimp plate. The shrimp were huge and perfectly breaded. Slaw was tasty. Wish there were more fries on my plate. Wife had the chicken Caesar wrap, and took 1/2 home. Waitress was attentive and pleasant. It was hot outside so we sat in the first inside room looking through the full glass wall at the beautiful Gulf, while being in the full AC (perfect, best of both worlds). The outdoor dining area was very tempting with a cover and ceiling fans. Will definitely go back. Note: 2 tables around us had inattentive servers; one couple up and left. Owner and manager extremely rude. Accidentally walked in with cups. We drank up and wanted to go to table to have lunch and drinks. Manager took our cups away from us and kept them at the hostess station. When we went to leave our wives went to retrieve the cups and the owner pitched a fit yelling at us that we couldn't have them in the dining room. However, the co-owner, Marco, left a lot to be desired... as someone with allergies and eating restrictions, I was refused a children's menu. We were a party of three and ordered adult beverages along with meals. I simply needed a smaller size and certain foods which the children's menu had. He told me no bc the children's menu was exactly the same- when I pointed out the other options I could have that weren't on the menu, he still said no. So I ended up with a side of rice which cost much less than a child's meal... shame on him for being so petty!!! I have been coming here over the past six years when visiting my family and after today, this may be my last after such rude treatment from Marco! Sister decided on hogfish sandwich, I had steak sandwich, both were excellent. Hogfish overhung the fresh roll it was on, steak was thinly sliced filet cooked to order with pickled red onions & Brie . Both very good. Menu was short 2 pg and a short list of specials. Perfect Short menu done well. Nice desert list. I can't give 5 stars because of the host, I assume it must have been an owner bc of his actions. Lunch for 2,-125.00 including 25% tip. NO Alcohol. Additionally NO thank you have a nice day. If he is not an owner, move him closer to door, teach him some basic manners. The service is not good. They are unhappy and make you feel like a problem for being there. I had to ask 3 times to get a waitress back over so we could get drinks refilled. This was in front of the manager. I've been there several times and it's always the same experience. No vibe, no music and no one is happy. We tip well every single time and I just don't think I'll go anymore. Even order drinks from the bar window is a problem. They need new management. This place could be amazing. I would rate this 0 starts if possible. Arrived here and approached the elderly RUDE man at the host counter. We were told 1 1/2 late and we said yes....he responded with "you are really going to wait that long". We were given looks by the staff, and treated like this place was doing us a favor. NO THANKS. The RUDE elderly man that was the host has to be related to the owner. There is no way anyone else trying to run a profitable business would allow this person to treat "guests". Everyone who asked for a table was treated the same. There was garbage that needed emptying, food crumbs all over the floor just a very chaotic, unorganized restaurant. Definitely avoid. read more

Beware Recently visited for a dinner with friends. Service was so-so. Two of four meals came out cold due to the fourth needing to be remade (kitchen issue). Why they served cold meals? No clue. Two of the four were room temp (should have been hot) shrimp dishes and those friends got horribly sick that night and next days. I spoke with management and they removed those meals from the bill. We had a party of eight. Two couples and four singles. Had excellent service and very good food. However, when it's time for the bill they give you one bill and will not give separate bills. They tell you to figure out your portion, figure your tax and your gratuity. Each person after calculating their portion will then pay the appropriate amount providing they have calculated their amounts correctly. Does this sound like it saves the restaurant time or does it just inconvenient the customer? They say it saves the restaurant time, I say it's a disservice to the customer! What she meant was we were welcome for her delivering the absolute worst customer service I ever experienced in my 60 years on the planet. So here is my "thanks" to you, Gabriela534, for your rude and condescending behavior. Our party of four are in unanimous agreement that you have no business in a publicly-facing role. I give South Beach Bar and Grille five stars for terrible service, a snobby atmosphere, watered down drinks and mouse-sized portions. So, if you want to be treated like crap and have money to burn, I highly recommend this place. We won't be back.
