Sadly this was a big let down. This summer my friends came to visit and this was on their to do list. We drove 45 mins away to come here. We sat outside and it was very hot. The waitress took our order and besides being served our food from the runner, we didn't see our waitress again. My friend who has an allergy was served the wrong food and we never received refills on our drinks, water, etc. The food was good. Presented nicely and pretty good portions. I finally had to get up and go find our waitress inside at the end to get our check to leave. Would have loved to have a good experience. May try one more time. read more

Just had awesome fish tacos (cobia) at the Pink Elephant. Always in search of better than average fish tacos and they did not disappoint. Plenty of meaty fish similar to mahi. Delicious topping & sauce. Highly recommend. They come 2 per order and they split them on plates for us since we just wanted a snack (only went in for a drink). The onion rings were also way above average, crunchy and delicious! Austin the bartender is really sweet and keeps the customers happy. Enjoyed sitting at the bar so he could serve us again. Don't recommend going on a holiday weekend though. What were we thinking? Well the beach had no parking and the streets were very busy. Glad we found a place to park at the pink elephant. A charming, unique, elegant South Florida hidden gem with fantastic food! I've been here on my honeymoon, anniversaries and summer vacations. The food will make you melt. The check will make you bankrupt (just kidding) but what's so special is the ambiance. It's homey, yet luxurious and sweet. I really look forward to coming here every time I visit this island. So this was picked totally at random. We were staying a little north, and my girlfriend wanted to drive down to Boca Grande, so we picked "The Pink Elephant" sight unseen. Oh. My. We weren't necessarily going for food, but the menu was enticing. We kept it simple. French Onion soup (amazing - simply amazing), Shrimp cocktail, and a Caesar salad, add chicken. Kind of light, not too crazy. But damn was every bit of it amazingly delicious. The staff: fast and attentive. Very friendly and they moved in the small room like it was nothing. The decor is definitely of note - the wood, the elephants, which made me wonder about flooding and how they combat it. The drinks: different without being esoteric where you have to convince yourself you like it because of the price tag. It wasn't the cheapest meal on vacation, but it was probably the most remembered one - to the point we make book at the inn next time. read more

Not only was it not high season yet, we had to wait considerably for a table but the prices were extremely high and our service wasn't great. The worst thing though, was the $16. 1/2 BLT sandwich (and cup of soup). The soup was fine but the BLT was served on cold toast and after a couple bites I couldn't taste any bacon; I thought they forgot to put it on. When I opened the sandwich, this is what I found; a meager amount of bacon bits. I swear they were the fake crap you buy in a jar at the grocery store! See photo below. Oh my gosh. Cannot recommend this place enough. The wait for an outside table was quite long but we were perfectly fine eating inside. I went based off the reviews and they are completely accurate. It is pricey but you're getting SUCH high quality food. We shared oysters, Thai chili shrimp, and the tuna tartar. I didn't even get a picture of most of the apps because we DEVOURED them. They were by far the highlight of Boca Grande. Our server was so friendly and visited the table just enough. It was a little dark inside, would like to see some more lighting during the day but otherwise not a complaint. The little pink elephants on the drink were the perfect touch. We ended the meal with a cookie skillet. I would pass on this next time only because I was so full from the amazing apps I didn't get to fully enjoy it. Cannot wait to visit again!! read more

Made a reservation for a nice dinner one night of our vacation without dragging our daughter along. The service was fantastic from the moment we walked up until we left. Our drinks were always topped off, dirty dishes instantly cleared, and constantly being checked on by multiple people. My wife loved the soup of the day and she loved her Thai grouper dish. She ate the entire thing so fast and is still talking about it. I had the filet with a loaded baked potato and asparagus. A very traditional dish compared to my wife and it was just average. The meat was pretty tough and slightly overcooked and lacked amazing flavor. The potato was massive and I enjoyed it. The asparagus were cooked nicely and the portion was fair. Overall, an old person vibe of a restaurant where the majority of younger people are there with their kids and parents that they are clearly visiting, just like us. read more

The place is adorable. We went for the holidays and it was so beautifully decorated. Everything Pink. There is a lack of light where we were sitting. Hard to read the menu. Kind of funny when most of the people in this island are older. The food was good. Well for the price it was okay. I had the soup of the day. Tons of vegetables but very little broth. I also had a filet that I asked for medium well but it came out well done. My husband had the shrimp gnocchi and it was okay. He was hungry an hour later. Our waiter was friendly at first but then got a table of regulars and spent most of the time with them. Technically my review is 3.5. I will however come back for brunch or lunch. read more

Today, we decided to split a carry out burger and eat it at a nearby picnic table. I ordered a burger, no cheese, with grilled onions, cut in half over the phone. The order taker said "it comes with fries, is that ok?" - I said yes. No drinks, nothing else. Picked up the order 25 minutes later - it came out in a large brown bag. Bill was presented, $31 plus change - I added a $6 tip which I think is generous for a carry out meal but regardless, $37 for a burger seems high. My bad for not reviewing the contents of the bag before leaving. What I received was a burger, not cut in half, no napkins, no condiments (like ketchup), no silverware, and an extra order of fries. Sometimes you eat somewhere, can make an easy decision on the number of stars, but don't have too much to say. That's how I'm feeling with this place. But I can squeeze out some comments here for the sake of the Yelp the community :) The service was fantastic and as a gluten free eater, our server helped me with options and I felt confident that what came out to me was in fact gluten free. It was surprising to me though at such a nice restaurant they didn't have any already put-together gluten free menu or anything marked that way on the regular menu. My snapper dish was very good. Is it going to be memorable for some time? I don't think so. But it was cooked well, toppings were great, and my side of mashed potatoes were great also. It was certainly modified to be gluten free as my friend ordered the regular version of it and it did 'look' better. :) This all being said, I think the dishes on the menu are over priced. At $46 for my snapper dish, I have to say it wasn't THAT good. And most dishes were around that price point. The dark wood decor, cozy pink walls, different rooms throughout, and outdoor seating options all made for a well rounded vibe. I would probably eat here again but would second guess it a little bit due to the prices. I'm always a fan of trying a place a second time though and ordering something different. read more

We had three adults and we all really enjoyed our food, though did find the entrees to be about $10 more than we would have liked and the drinks were about $7 more than we would expect. Omg what a treat! Our waiter was so personable he made you feel like you were the most important guess at the pink elephant . I wanted to wrap him up and bring him home. 3.75 stars for the pink elephant. They have indoor and outdoor seating/ the outside seating has umbrellas. We did not have a reservation- waited 15 minutes and they got us a table out front. While we waited we got a drink at the bar. The man worked the bar was NOT friendly at all- the girl who brought our drinks didn't even crack a smile. Our waiter was wonderful and told us all the specials and was in a great mood. A storm was coming so he politely moved us inside to a table where we had our meals. My husband got the duck special - he was not aware it would be fried - he said it was alright. I got the New York strip which was also just alright. I had a pleasant experience here for dinner. I would recommend coming to the restaurant early and putting your name down because the wait was over an hour and unfortunately they do not take reservations. I would also maybe try coming for an early dinner or try sitting inside. The lighting at the outdoor tables is a white light and throws it off a little unless you have them light your candle and even then it still is a little too dark. While waiting for our meal they dropped of some very lovely bread and butter with olive tapenade. The butter was so good, tasted like there was some sort of citrus element to it. For our dinner my partner and I had the Crispy Thai Grouper and the NY Strip Steak. The Grouper was perfectly fried. The Asian cabbage slaw with the sesame dressing was a wonderful addition to the dish that really enhanced its overall flavour. The NY Strip Steak was decent. I've had many steaks and this one wasn't special in any particular way. It was cooked well and tasted ok. Not much more to say for that. The Truffle Mushroom Mash Potatoes that I had with it were so good though! Strange when you like the sides more than the entree lol. The Brussels sprouts were ok as well. I prefer mine very crispy and these were not quite there. We enjoyed a really delicious bottle of wine with our whole meal that was a cab sav. Hopefully for anyone reading this they will still have it and you can try it out as well. Look for Borne of Fire! We didn't really have room for desert but next time we hope to enjoy some. read more

My first time at the PE - We arrived and were casually dressed, but had no issues getting a table. There were four of us and we were seated at a roomy booth near the door. When we got there around 11:25 the place was virtually empty, but by the time we left it was packed inside and on the patio (tables 6 feet apart). *note - upstairs is not open at this time #COVID I ordered the crab cakes at the recommendation of my friend and when they came out OMG the plate is HUGE. There 3 crab cake balls, vey little breading, loaded with crab meat! When they say assortment of fries they mean it - I had waffle friesI had regular fries, I had sweet potato fries, I had onion rings!! My husband had the pastrami french dip and we traded at the halfway point and OMG that was so good too! No complaints from our dining partners either - clean plates across the board. We splurged and shared an order of the key lime pie (one slice was enough for the 4 of us). It too was delicious. read more
