Delicious and filling acaii bowl. Great for a quick bite and good amount of indoor seating in the area.

Update on my recent review! They contacted me and I was actually going to visit again! To make the story short. I told them some details and my opinion about an incident that happened in the store while I was there and it seems they didn't want any advice. Pretty unprofessional if you ask me.

My husband and I wanted a smoothie as a light dinner. First thing the smoothie shop is in the GW university gym so you have to give them your drivers license until you leave. The smoothie bar has a lot of clean options. I got the super green smoothie which was so tasty and not too sweet. I could taste the kale, but it wasn't overpowering. My husband had the peanut blast smoothie which was tasty as well. However after taking a few sips of my smoothies I noticed it was very hard to drink. I opened the cup and saw that it was not blended well at all. I had large chunks of banana and mango just sitting in the smoothie. This was disappointing as someone recommended this place to me and we walked a couple of miles just to visit. I would definitely go back as I see the potential I just think someone was not paying attention.

The best açaí bowls in DC; the warrior bowl is my fave! They also have smoothies and pressed juices. I highly recommend this and the waiting line will indicate why people continue to come back.

Today, I tried South Block at GWU and I was not disappointed. I ordered the warrior bowl, an açaí bowl with organic açaí, bananas, strawberry, & pineapple juice -- topped with granola, strawberries, blueberries & bananas. It was delicious, I have a new found love for açaí bowls so since there's one close to work, I'm super excited. The only downfall is that South Block is technically on GWU campus and doesn't open until 10am, the times are adjusted for students and not working professionals in the area. It would be nice if South Block opened at 8/9am so that I could grab it for breakfast and not lunch. But that's minor. All in all, good stuff, next I want to try a smoothie!

FYI: This particular location is located on GWU premises so just be sure to either have your Uni ID on you or a regular one which they hold until you leave. Also be aware that this location is not open year round (they have just reopened as the school year has started back again). Seating is semi-abundant but a bit scattered. No real vibes going on here to lounge about as it is pretty much set up for grab and go. Service is okay, but rather dry and a bit sloppy. I find that the packaged food options aren't the best and overpriced so go elsewhere for food (like the Whole Foods just steps away). But honestly, if you are going to WF anyways, you might as well get a drink there as they now have fresh juices and blended beverages as well..

Yummy drinks and bowls, with great service located just up the stairs from the entrance. (And they take Gworld!) If you're not a GW student, no worries! Just have your ID on you to enter. I always get the large power smoothie (SOOO GOOD) with extra whey protein for about $10. Slightly pricey imo, but that seems to be the norm with these kinds of things. My only complaint is that they don't open until 10am (or noon on Sundays), which is pretty inconvenient for getting protein after my 7am workouts.

Located inside the GW gym; South Block is a good place to stop by after a workout (or anytime really) for some açaí bowls. They have pretty good options but are a bit on the pricey side. Try the warrior and cali bowl!

Disappointing. Good people and friendly customer service but overpriced and subpar bowls, toast, and smoothies.

The standout of the morning was the breakfast side potatoes--crispy, seasoned perfectly, and easily something I'd come back for. The breadbasket came with three pastries, which felt a bit smaller than expected, but the almond croissant more than made up for it. On the heartier side, the chicken and waffles were extremely filling thanks to the dense waffles, so definitely a dish to tackle with an appetite. One of the biggest surprises was the brunch salad with salmon, which ended up being one of the best salads I've had in a long time--fresh, balanced, and satisfying. The breakfast sandwich was another highlight: so good that it's now the new standard I'll compare all other breakfast sandwiches to. The smoked salmon bagel was also a fun experience, served deconstructed so you can build each bite exactly how you like it. Not everything was a hit--the French toast wasn't my favorite--but the overall meal was strong enough that it barely detracted from the experience. Brunch offers a few additions beyond the regular breakfast menu, but overall it's very similar to their standard breakfast, just with a couple of extra options. It tends to get full on the weekends to make a reservation. Bottom line: Penbrook is a beautiful hotel restaurant that punches above its weight--excellent service, memorable dishes, and several items worth returning for.

Thankfully we ended up at the Unconventional Diner and it was perfect for satisfying everyone in the group!! We were all able to get tasty drinks- from n/a Hibiscus Citrus lemonade, white wine, a cinnamon toast old fashioned (what? A cereal inspired old fashioned, yes please and it was fantastic!), and a Bourbon basil smash. Then the crew settled on some food-the waiter was patient with the questions and contemplation from the table (thank you!). We started with the SKILLET CORNBREAD with Habanero Honey Butter | Sea Salt (v) And that was melt in your mouth cornbread. Damn. Real cornbread seems hard to come by any more and this is the real deal. And the honey butter and flake sea salt-can't go wrong. I'm a spice weeny-for reals-and this was incredible. It's a MUST get. Across the table we had two of the double cheese burgers (I warned, we have a lack of adventurous eaters) -and they both said the burgers were the best they've had. I had the Philly French double dip, with horseradish cream and caramelized onions-so fantastic-the roast beef was melt in your mouth and the broth was the perfect saltiness. Our fourth got the fried chicken sandwich and really loved the dill pickle slaw that came with it, and the chicken was not over cooked and not raw-perfect! We all had fries with our meals, the thinner kind with light seasoning and none of us could stop eating them, even when we were clearly full, the fries just kept disappearing.
