We stopped by here for a early afternoon breakfast, yes breakfast, once we ascertained that Bluestone Lane had a sufficient number of stars on Yelp. We were not disappointed. Bluestone is connected to the DC West End Public Library. We liked all the windows at Bluestone. Overall, the ambience is light and airy. Eats were great. While our young server was cordial, he seemed overwhelmed even though the restaurant was nearly void of customers. Service was ok. But having said that, the blueberry pancakes I ordered and that came in a little skillet were fabulous! Loved their light fluffy texture and flavor. Yes, the pancakes came with blueberries, but also with jelly. While these were blueberry pancakes, I'm pretty certain the jelly was blackberry. But hey, that's a great thing! I love anything blackberry. Curiously, the pancakes came with a side of maple syrup. I would never have dreamt of mixing maple syrup with blackberry/blueberry. My sides of bacon and toast were pretty typical, but the toast slice was large and the bread had an excellent texture. The toast came with butter and blackberry jam. JP ordered the Athlete's Burrito and liked it a lot. Enclosed in the burrito were egg whites, avocado and a few other ingredients. The burrito came with a tasty dressed spinach salad. It's evident that the owner/chef love avocado, because the majority of dishes include avocado. We will definitely come back (I'm still thinking about those awesome pancakes). read more

Coffee is solid. Folks working here are real unfriendly. Person who took my order had headphones in. I had to say oar milk three times before she finally acknowledged I'd said anything (the order on the screen said whole milk). The day before I also asked for oat milk multiple times and it was done with whole milk. I order coffee almost every day and rarely have this issue. The customer service is really bad. No one greets you and everyone working there looks like they are attending a funeral. I went to grab a smoothie 2 days in a row and the service was the same. The tall young man needs to stay in the back, he is very unpleasant and I'm not sure he should be providing any service to customers. I went here early in the morning when I was on a business trip. The staff were incredibly friendly and polite. I ordered an avacado toast, a coffee, and a smoothie. Everything was excellent -- fresh, delicious. It is a simple, fast outlet, very clean, with lots of light. This coffee place conveniently located by the Embassies in DC. Perfect place to get your caffeine fix and breakfast before you go to your embassy appointment. For my drink, I ordered a Machiatto (this is actually a shots--not a regular Machiatto/Latte Drink) the barista was really good getting your drinks right and the presentation looked so perfect. Stayed in the Darcy hotel with my family over the weekend and had the best experience at Bluestone. Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. I ordered a dirty chai latte and it was perfect. Meh. I found this place to be a bit of a letdown. For months, I'd been enticed by the menu photos on my DoorDash app. So when I found myself in the general vicinity on a sunny Sunday afternoon, I decided to take a chance and place an order from this place once and for all. But overall, I was not impressed. I ordered the avocado toast (and paid extra to add bacon) and a Keen Green smoothie. By the time you include the extra DoorDash fees and tip, this meal cost me nearly $30!!!! It was nowhere near worth that -- and I'll never do it again. Here's the low-down: First, my food was not ready at the time that the app estimated. That was a problem because there is extremely limited street parking right in front of the cafe -- so I had no choice but to park illegally to go inside and pick up my order, only to find that it wasn't even ready like it should have been. I was so afraid I was going to get a ticket because I was blocking the entrance/exit to the alley that runs alongside the cafe. So I was super stressed about that and having to keep a watchful eye on my car while standing inside waiting for my order. Second, the meal itself wasn't anything to write home about. The smoothie is something I could have made for myself for half the price and double the satisfaction. Also, I didn't like the toppings in the smoothie (like the coconut, IIRC) and learned that I don't like all those frills because it makes the drink seem less like a beverage and more like a breakfast bowl. (Also, the store failed to give me a straw in the first place -- so I had to "drink" the smoothie with a spoon anyway!). Additionally, the avocado toast was just basic, with strips of bacon laid across it that were cold by the time I got to my location to eat it. It tasted fine, but again not $30 worth of fine. This was not a spectacular meal in any way, shape, or form. The best I could say about the entire meal is that it was packaged well and traveled well. But that's about it. All in all, I would not patronize this place again. read more

My girlfriend comes here for coffee and really likes it though it's on the pricier side. As a non-coffee drinker, I really like the breakfast sandwiches. Most recently I had the salmon toast, which has a nice pile of salmon and is on surprisingly flavorful bread. I'd give that 5 stars. This is a smaller location, so think more of a coffee shop feel rather than a full restaurant like their West End location. I LOVE Bluestone Lane's turmeric, beet and green tea lattes. I stopped in for a tumeric latte one afternoon. The shop was busy but not completely full. The latte was excellent, highly recommend. This is a cool neighborhood spot or a spot to hit up if you're at the hotel that's right next door. Love Bluestone Lane! Walked in with a dog owner allowing the dog's front paws on various parts of the food counter and the shop clerk didn't care. The shop clerk then pet the dog and I had to ask her to wash her hands. This is not OK in the least. If dog owners cannot be responsible and respectful knowing what dogs step in then dogs should not be allowed in restaurants. I was looking for a little something to tide me over this AM and found this little coffee shop. Look out Starbucks! I liked their coffee very much. They had a nice selection of juices and treats. My partner liked her Bluestone Lane Fitzroy of pineapple, grapefruit, lemon and ginger root very much. And we both loved their fabulous blueberry muffin and snarfed it all down.
