Knowing that this establishment has existed since my hair lacked gray and homes were affordable, my better half and I finally visited during the Winter holidays festival. Notwithstanding 80+ degree weather in December, we had a five-star experience! The outdoor and indoor vendors displayed various goods: from wood-carved decor; jewelry; scented goods; wearing apparel to incredible Aguanca baked breads - great stuff. We settled-in to the substantial tasting "hall", bordered by long, "L" shaped bar. I use "hall," as it reminds me of a German beer tasting room: large, wood accents, high ceilings, substantial tables, very knowledgeable servers, very good wines. The restaurant: the primary reason South Coast did not receive 5/5 stars... * ambience was quite nice * the service was less than impassioned: as the wine creators and those whom administer the resort surely must possess * is it the food quality? This is my first time ever leaving a negative review, but I feel it's important to share my experience. Two months ago, my boss and colleagues generously contributed toward a $300 gift card from South Coast Winery. Since a digital option wasn't available, the gift card was mailed. Unfortunately, I never received it. After checking with UPS, I was told the package had been marked as delivered, but they no longer had a delivery photo since more than two months had passed. I then contacted South Coast Winery and spoke with a concierge named Rylee Lawrence. From the start, the interaction was extremely disappointing. She immediately cut me off and stated there was nothing they could do, repeatedly saying that once the gift card was sent, it was "no longer their problem." Each time I tried to explain the situation, she spoke over me in a condescending manner. On two separate occasions, I asked to speak with a manager and was told someone would call me back. No one ever did. I also asked if they could assist by filing a claim with the carrier, and again I was told it wasn't their responsibility. Mistakes and delivery issues happen, but how a company responds is what truly matters. In this case, I felt completely dismissed and unsupported. The customer service I received was the worst I've ever experienced. If you choose to do business with this company, just be aware that once they have your money, customer care appears to end. I'm sharing this in hopes it helps others make informed decisions. read more

We stopped here for lunch during our little jaunt to Temecula. It was a Thursday afternoon so perhaps that explains the lack of people there. We enjoyed the lack of crowds. Btwn all of us we had salmon toast, steak frites, prime rib cheesesteak and ceviche takaki. Food was good but not rave worthy. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to go here again if I lived near there. We sat out on the ginormous back porch to enjoy the gorgeous weather. Let's begin by what is good : - Ideally situated in Temecula - The property is nice - The restaurant is fine, nothing fancy, just fine That being said, let's go to the reasons why we let 2/5 stars: - The lack of planning is impressive. It looks like their team was not aware that July 4th would be a busy weekend. The room were not ready at Check in time. If you expect to take a relaxing shower after your long drive, please forget and be patient. They are also clearly understaffed. - That brings us to the second point, probably because the team is lacking resources, they could be rude to the clients. We understand it could be hard to welcome hundreds of clients, but be respectful and polite would be the minimum. - The room are clearly not to the level of quality you expect for $400 a night. Items were missing, the soap dispenser was empty and got refilled only the day after, the coffee machine was not working, and when they sent a remplacement, the water filter was gross. - But overall what really bothered us was that the cleaning team does not respect your stuff. They took some of our clothes because they probably did not pay attention when they were cleaning. We had to leave without these clothes, because they did not go through the laundry when we had to leave. Well that was a once experience. We talked with people that come often to this property, and they told us they were not surprised. We will not come back and do not recommend this property at all. The Kalapana concert was fantastic! I also loved the setting. The chairs behind the tables area were not very comfortable and very close together. The food was ok, but not great. Service was friendly. I would go to another concert there, but I would have to book a table and bring my own outside food if we can. read more

Before pre-ordering and pre-paying for the "Memorial Day BBQ" plate (event Sun 5/25/25), I called the winery and confirmed that the BBQ plates were of the meat choices listed on the website. When redeeming out BBQ plate though, the staff member stated that it is only for ONE of the three BBQ meat options. Went here for dinner, a group of 6. Stopped at the bar and had a glass of wine while we waited for our table. Once seated we ordered our meals and asked for a round of drinks. We were denied a round of drinks with no explanation. So I had a steak and would have liked a glass of wine with my meal. I've been a loyal wine club member at South Coast Winery for quite some time, and I used to proudly bring friends and family here, knowing the experience would be top notch. Sadly that's no longer the case. On my recent visit, I was shocked by the lack of knowledge and professionalism from the staff especially in the Wine Club Member area. The team working there seemed inexperienced and untrained, with little understanding of the wines on the menu or the award winning legacy this winery once upheld. I asked for a specific wine, and the server brought me something completely different. No explanation, no apology just confusion. It felt like he either didn't know or assumed I wouldn't notice. Very disappointing. What's even more frustrating is the clear difference between the Wine Club Member area and the main tasting floor. The staff on the general floor where regular visitors go to taste and purchase wine seem to be the more knowledgeable, seasoned team members. It's concerning that those of us who are loyal members aren't receiving the same level of service or expertise. South Coast used to be a place that celebrated quality, hospitality, and a true appreciation for wine. Unfortunately, it feels like that's been lost. I no longer feel valued as a member, and it's heartbreaking to say I'm ready to move on. South Coast Winery, I truly hope you find your way back to the excellence and pride you were once known for. I can't say I'm the top notch wine connoisseur but I can tell you I have five different memberships at five different wineries and I'm always looking for new wine. South Coast is a beautiful winery. My husband and I loved it so much we decided to become members and celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary here. We have been for the concert on the vines and it was such a fun experience. We have also been to stay overnight for our anniversary and we had a great experience. The rooms were really nice, we had our own little patio and got a bottle of wine upon checkin. There was live music in the tasting room and the wine was tasty. We chose to become members of this winery because they had such a beautiful property. I am looking forward to many more visits. read more

We've been here several times - for either Tastings, Tours, Brunch or all of the above. LOL. They also have Spa Getaways and couples retreats as well, so they have something for everyone. If you're lucky, you'll get to see a Weddings being photographed on their lawn. We would really recommend the tastings and the Brunch. My husband and I got married at South Coast in April. Initially, the communication and organization was great with our first coordinator, Samantha. When she left the property, we got paired with another coordinator whom seemed new and unable to answer questions, let alone promptly. We were put in contact with a new coordinator following our request to change as the wedding was only a few months out. Leann Casey was our venue coordinator for the last few months and the day of the wedding. Leann was phenomenal. She is professional and organized. She helped my husband and I stay stress free the day of the wedding. She even bustled my dress for me. She is incredible and we would highly recommend her! South Coast offers a beautiful venue and great food. We had multiple guests express comments on how stunning the venue was and how delicious the food was. My family came to brunch for my brother's birthday. There was no wait and our table was clean and comfortable. The staff was awesome in attending to our needs. The food was good but there were some items that need to be addressed. I ordered the Mango Raspberry Mimosa. Mango yes, Raspberry no, I didn't taste it. 3 out of 4 ordered the egg breakfast with pancakes. There wasn't any sugar-free options available. The Chorizo scramble that came with 2 fried tortillas that were unusable, tasted like they had soaked in old grease & put on the plate. This winery is beautiful. We went on a Sunday pick up our wine club wines and decided to grab a bite to eat at Vineyard Rose So this will probably be a combination review. The winery itself is a bit further east of most of the other wineries, but is a great destination as they have a hotel, spa and restaurant so you can relax and enjoy without leaving the property. There is the general wine tasting area, and the staff is super friendly with great recommendations as well as background on all their wines. They do have a great variety of Reds, whites and sparking wines. Like many other wineries their wine club membership is free, with the only requirement is that you purchase 3 bottles every quarter. In addition with membership you get access to your own wine tasting room and patio, and discounts in the gift shop and Vineyard Rose restaurant. The Vineyard Rose restaurant is very good for breakfast and lunch with many options that should satisfy any palate. On the one Sunday we were there they only had the Sunday Brunch which was $55/pp without the wine club discount. Service in the restaurant is excellent, and attentive. The buffet food selection is pretty traditional with your breakfast items, bacon eggs, omelette bar, pancakes, bagels. There is also shrimp, crab claws, and mussels. There is a carving table but by 1:30 it had shutdown, even though it was supposed to be open until 3:00. Also at the same time the dessert bar was barren so cannot tell you how they tasted, or if it was refilled. Review for restaurant only*** Had brunch here on Saturday 7/3. We arrived around 930 and didn't have a reservation. Unfortunately, all their outdoor seating was reserved so we had to dine inside. :( The outdoor patio looked really nice from the window. I was also annoyed because we called ahead of time and were told dogs were not allowed on the patio. (I don't get why not) Service was great and efficient. Don't recall our server's name. Food came out quickly after ordering and was freshly cooked and plates and food were HOT. I really like the banana pancakes...my bf ordered those. The pancakes had cream cheese and brown sugar or cinnamon or a mix of both and that served as the "syrup" and they were divine! I liked the cut on the potatoes on my plate- small and cube like. The potatoes were also seasoned well. I ordered the vanilla cold brew- came already sweetened and too much sugar for me. We also had the mango raspberry mimosas. Our bill was $50. I think that was fair for what we ordered. I'm sure the dinner menu is nice. Wouldn't mind coming back for dinner. read more

Never seen that in my life but they were adamant they closed in half an hour and they shut the water off, never in my life. Came this past weekend with a group of (vaccinated) friends; I was initially disappointed not to be able to sit on the patio where I've visited before as it was reserved for a private party. However, we were able to find a grouping of tables to spread out over mostly in the shade (necessary in the roughly 100-degree heat). In the tasting room, Kendra was as friendly and helpful as you could wish! She helped guide my group to select the California Girl, the Ruby Cuvee, and my personal fave, the Spumante Diamante. I appreciated how she picked up on our vibe and responded in kind to start the outing out on the right foot. I recently booked a two night stay at the South Coast Resort. My nightly charges of $327, with an additional resort fee of $34 and taxes that were almost $33, Totaled $394 per night. I was disappointed and expected much more from this resort as they tout themselves to be a luxury resort. We arrived on Friday afternoon, and spent Saturday touring the local wineries. A few items of note.: 1) South Coast did not refresh our room on Saturday when we came back from our day out. When we phoned the front desk to have our room serviced, we were told that the maid service had left for the day. In addition, the front desk told us that rooms are typically not turned over unless it's a three day stay, which is unacceptable for a property that touts its exclusiveness. Our bed was unmade, the towels needed to be refreshed, and the trash needed to be discarded. So, for our second night in the room, we got to experience a pile of dirty towels and a full trash can sitting at our entry door, along with an un-made bed. All which could be completed with a simple 10 minute visit by the room cleaning crew.. 2) The mantle over the fireplace was so dusty, you could write your name on it. 3) The entry door was cluttered with leaves, some of which were subsequently trampled into the room as we entered. 4) The welcome booklet that describes areas of interest was missing pages. We thought about ordering room service Friday night, but there was no menu in the dining section, nor was there a way to contact the restaurant. All in all, fairly disappointed with the level of service at this resort. It has location, has a winery, and has so many possibilities, but it almost seemed like they just don't care. I've traveled extensively and have experienced five star and four star experiences. The South Coast experience doesn't rate a higher rating. read more

I'm giving a star for the sparkling gewürztraminer and a star for the wine club patio but the surprisingly disappointing customer service has really lowered my opinion of South Coast Winery. As a wine club member, there's no guarantee your "reserved" order will be reserved for you, as we found out. Also, when I inquired as to when our membership would be expiring, I made the mistake of mentioning that we wouldn't be renewing because we live a ways away. Well, our membership was immediately canceled for some mysterious reason and they lost the last minute order we were considering placing. Yesterday, I drove to the winery to buy some wine for a memorial service we will be hosting. I asked the young lady at the counter if she thought the winery would throw in a complimentary glass of wine if I bought over $100 of wine. Her reply: "I don't think so." Really South Coast Winery? $113 isn't worth a glass of wine and the goodwill?! And to think of all the free tastings that aren't used each month by your members--we didn't come close to using all of ours when we were members. And then, to top it all off, she didn't even say thank you as she handed me the receipt. I know this hasn't been everyone's experience but there seems to be a lack of focus on customer appreciation.
