I own a business in Illinois and was looking for a service van for my company. After researching available vehicles, I found a 2020 Ram ProMaster City at this dealership and contacted a salesperson named Jeff. Before applying for financing or making the trip to purchase the vehicle, I asked several questions, including whether there was anything mechanically wrong with the van, whether the tires were in good condition, whether it had a clean Carfax, and whether there were any broken mirrors, cracked windows, or other issues needing repair. Jeff repeatedly assured me that all of their vehicles go through a "100% service inspection" before being offered for sale. I explained that I understood the van had over 110,000 miles and was being sold as a used work vehicle. My only concern was that it be mechanically sound, safe, and free from defects beyond normal wear and tear. Based on those assurances, I completed the financing application and drove approximately one hour to purchase the van. The staff was friendly, professional, and had all the paperwork prepared. The buying process itself was smooth. Unfortunately, the problems began almost immediately after leaving the dealership. Less than one mile down the road, it started raining. When I turned on the windshield wipers, one blade flew completely off the vehicle and the other was barely attached. I had to stop and buy new wiper blades. The auto parts store informed me that the blades installed on the van were not even correct for that make and model. During the drive home, I also discovered a large crack in the windshield, a missing fuse box cover, and a missing hood prop rod. I documented everything and sent photos to Jeff, who responded that they would take care of it. The following day, I was pulled over because neither brake light was functioning properly. After spending money diagnosing the issue, I learned the vehicle had incorrect bulbs installed. Once again, I contacted Jeff and was told a technician would reach out. The dealership offered to repair the vehicle, but after being told multiple times that the van had already undergone a "100% service inspection," I was uncomfortable bringing it back. I asked if I could use my own mechanic and submit receipts for reimbursement, and Jeff agreed. Additional problems continued to surface, including severe shaking while driving. When I took the van to a tire shop, I was informed that the front driver's wheel had only two lug nuts installed, the passenger front wheel had only three, and the rear wheels each had only four. The technician also found that two wheels were significantly bent. I documented everything with photos and videos and forwarded the information to Jeff. He advised me to proceed with the repairs and submit receipts. After spending approximately $2,800 on repairs, parts, labor, and safety-related issues that should have been identified before the vehicle was sold, I finally began using the van. Shortly afterward, another service light appeared due to a faulty gas cap, which I also had to replace. Less than a week after purchasing the vehicle, my lender contacted me regarding a discrepancy with my down payment. The dealership had incorrectly credited my deposit amount, resulting in a $500 error. After several attempts, I finally met with the General Manager. The dealership agreed that the $500 deposit error was their mistake and reimbursed me for that amount. However, despite all of the documented issues and prior conversations regarding repairs, they offered only an additional $500 toward the approximately $2,800 I had spent correcting problems that should have been addressed before the vehicle was sold. I fully understand that a used vehicle with over 100,000 miles will have wear and tear. However, missing lug nuts, incorrect brake light bulbs, defective windshield wipers, bent wheels, a cracked windshield, and missing vehicle components are not issues I expected to discover immediately after being told the vehicle had passed a "100% service inspection." As a business owner myself, I understand that mistakes happen. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. While the staff was friendly during the sales process, I was extremely disappointed by how the dealership handled the issues after the sale. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership and would encourage potential buyers to thoroughly inspect any vehicle before purchasing. read more

Worst experience ever purchasing a used car. I had to spend almost $6,000 to fix it when a light came on literally 10 minutes after leaving the parking lot from buying the car. The employees at the dealership did nothing to help, but kept the car in their possession while giving the impression they were going to help with the multiple issues. They chose to drive the vehicle around at their leisure making the issue worse while refusing to fix any of the 3 problems. Just so you know, the name of the salesman was Jeff. I highly recommend staying away from this dealership altogether, but the owner & Jeff are the 2 most morally corrupt people who give salesman a bad reputation. read more

Bought a 2017 Chevy Suburban Premier from them April 5 2025...drove the vehicle 608 miles, 275 from the dealership to home...May 27 2025, transmission fail...oil is totally contaminated...all they can say is I'm sorry you didn't have a warranty...I'm certain the transmission was shit when I purchased the vehicle, they put some additives in the fluid to make it run for a bit and shut off the engine light! The mileage when I bought the vehicle was 135,065...the mileage when that damn thing crashed out was 135,673...from St. Louis to Louisville, 608 miles in less than 2 months!!! I was lied to from the minute i walked into the shop and if i hadnt been in a catch 22 situation i would've left without purchasing the car. first off i had to drive the car from MO to MN and the cruise control didnt work. I called jeff immediately and was told it was no big deal and that he would reach out if he had a solution . he never reached out. i then called and asked for the car fax for this car again three separate times and wasnt sent the information not one time. I then take my car to the shop and i have been told the sunshade needs a new motor, the cruise control is busted , the windshield was improperly fixed, the climate control lights were busted , and now the front camera was knocked out of place. from the car fax i remember the car was shown as clean without any issues and JEFF claimed an inspection of the vehicle had been done. lucky i have platinum bumper to bumper coverage so i only had to pay a small deductible but oh my god this dealership sucks and the salesman jeff is a pos who lied in my face about the car being inspected so he can add another picture of his lying ass to his wall of customers he has fleeced dont shop no point at all read more

Do NOT but a car from this dishonest and money hungry place. Jeff sold us a car with a safety and emissions about to expire without renovating it or warning us. We went to the DMV and had to go back home because they never sent us the car title when we bought it, so we couldn't register it. They came to our house to pick up the car to take it to do the emissions because they were already at fault. We got the title in the mail, went to the DMV again just to find out they didn't send the lien release either and had to go home once again. This is already two months in having the car, and we work during the week so we only have Saturdays to go to the DMV, so each time it doesn't work out it delays it by weeks. We have been driving around with an expired license thanks to their incompetence. Jeff sure is pushy and unreasonable when it comes to making a car deal, but when it comes to doing his part of the deal they don't give a flying fck. Trust the reviews and run away. read more

This business tried to take advantage of me in every way they could. Offered me the highest interest rates, added charges I didn't want, and lied to my face. I had to come back a week later to get reimbursed for having to put my own headlights, high beams, all air valve caps, and a missing cap under the hood (also found a mechanics lunch under the hood). When I asked why the TPMS sensor was on, Jeff tried to convince me that it was an issue with all Fords and then later said it was an weather issue in all cars, more bs. Never sent the title like they said they would. When I asked why he offered the highest interest rates, he tried to turn it around on me and then blamed Biden. When I went to test drive the car, it had 2,000 extra miles on it than what was advertised. Apparently the owner's wife had been driving it for 3 months (that should have been a secret). When the paper work was drawn, there was an extra $1,000 fee added to it that was NOT listed on the KBB website. He waved the fee onsite and pick up scheduled for the next day (so they can repair a noise). Later that evening, I was told there was an out of town family interested in the car before me who was willing to pay the extra $1000. I got really bad vibes so I told him to congratulate the other family for me and prepare my deposit refund. I found a great car for my kid 6 days later. read more

They talked her into a 15% interest rate, which I later told her was criminal of them. Taking advantage of a young woman was their goal. They did not expect me to show up. Worst experience I've had at a dealership. After the deal was made I jumped in the vehicle after I had already taken it for a test drive to leave and the battery was dead. They bought the cheapest piece of crap with way lower cold cranking amps than recommended and it left me stranded so I had to buy a new battery. 2 weeks of having it a hose busted then I had to buy more parts and brakes because even they were bad. I'm in 2000, fixing it myself and I still haven't been able to get plates on it because the inspections were no good and I'm still trying to get it to be able to pass... The car I bought is fine so far, however, they never sent me the title, nor did they call me to let me know it was at the dealership. I had to drive 30 mins to go pick it up, wait 50 mins for a safety inspection that consisted of 4 people standing around talking and never actually looking at my car, go back to the dmv only to find out they didn't sign the transfer title form, so I had to go all the way back the next day to have the form signed. 4 hours out of my life, 3 trips to the dmv, money out of pocket for late fees and a whole lot of irritation. Update: Unfortunately as expected my note to South Auto Plaza was ignored. They literally do not care. Note: This review is subject to change depending on how South County Auto Plaza responds the message i just sent them (below), but as of now we are VERY unhappy with the rudeness, dishonesty, and general lack of customer service that we were treated with while purchasing my dream vehicle. They turned what should have been a happy and exciting event into a stressful mess. My letter below: I bought a 2011 GMC Yukon from South County Auto Plaza on 7/22/21, and in the paperwork it stated in writing that that the sale was "subject to vehicle not having a bad motor or transmission by 7/23/2021 (Drive Train)". We took the vehicle to our mechanic the next day and it was discovered that it had 3 issues: 1. broken motor mount 2. loose wheel hub 3. leaking transmission lines. When we called back to cancel the sale and bring it back Burton assured us that South County Auto Plaza would fix all of the issues. Not only did your Head of Shop (Jeff) refuse to fix problems 2 & 3, when promised a turn around time of 1 day for issue #1 (broken motor mount) we were strung out for days after it was simply dropped off at Dobbs and forgotten about. We came back for the vehicle, losing all trust in South County Auto Plaza and took it to our own mechanic to fix - which took less than a day. I would be happy to send South County Auto Plaza a copy of the bill totaling $399.26 - since it was promised that your company would take care of any drive train issues found before 7/23 (I also have proof of that I can send) I would like a check made out to that amount sent to my home address. You have that on file but if you can't find it you can email me at ... and I will send you the copies of the bills/issues as well as my address. I am posting this message on Google/Yelp/BBB so I do hope you do the right thing and take care of this mess that you put us in, and in the future put your customer's needs first instead of your own. To make a long story short. Do not get a car here. It is a trap. Terrible service and lieing salesman. 6 months my car died. I bought the car because the salesman told me if the engine ever needed to be replaced the warranty would cover it. I had nothing but problems with the car and the they did zero to help me. The salesman even told me he didn't remember my name. Then 6 months later it happened, the engines died and was irreparable. So I reported to the the warranty company and they came up with a ton of reasons why they weren't going to fix it. Now I couldn't get to my job and I got fired. No income, the bank wants the car back. I owe, with the hidden 22% interest about $24000 for the car and it doesn't even run anymore. I am an honest person and have been clearly deceived by this dealership. I am now in a life time financial struggle to get through this. The bank is 'credit acceptance' and is not helping me. I am in communication with the State of Missouri District attorneys office and others to fight this. I suggest you heed my warnings and don't Get involved with South County Auto Plaza. I am ashamed to say I went back for a second dose of BS! Be aware of the DECEIVING DISCLAIMER REGARDING $1000 DOWN PAYMENT! Which is added to the advertised price of all of their vehicles. Its a scam to get you to pay $1000 more on the vehicle your interested in. That $1000 is supposed to be waived for people who have shopped there before. (like frequent flyer miles) I thought I was getting a great deal and thinking I qualified for that break, because it was my second purchase there. But No!... "someone under priced the Truck and they were sorry they couldn't let the Truck go at the advertised price i needed to pay the extra $1000" then Jeff told me they had just put new rotors and breaks on the Truck... so thinking the price was good I agreed to paying the advertised price plus their BS $1000 down! Bought the Truck mid Nov. 2021...JAN. 31, 2022, I PAID $1200 TO HAVE NEW ROTORS AND BRAKES PUT ON MY TRUCK. THEY LIED! AND THAT WAS THE SECOND TIME!!! The deal i thought i was getting ended up not being a deal at all. Jeff tried to convince me I wore out the brakes and rotors in under 1000 miles and 2 months! My first experience was a SUV I bought. Before going into the following story they priced that SUV higher then what I paid for it when adding it back to their lot after, I traded it in. (THAT 2014 FORD EXPLORER HAD A TON OF ISSUES THEY WILL LIE ABOUT THAT, TOO) My first experience, I bought a SUV to replace my older one. The new one didn't have a brake controller so I asked as part of the deal for them to uninstall the one in my old SUV and install it in the one I was purchasing. I was told it wasn't compatible and for a price $167+\-... so i agreed but requested the one in my traded SUV, to be returned to me anyway. 1 day after purchase Dan said he couldn't do that bc the SUV was already traded to another buyer. They told me they would call and go get it but never did. We played Cat and mouse for a month... Jeff will lie to you to make a sale. When I requested reformation for my costs, I asked Jeff but he turned the responsibility to Dan. Well, Dan never returned my calls. THEY WON'T STAND BY THEIR WORD OR SALES . This place, STEER CLEARRR!!!! I purchased a car from them a couple years ago. First of all when i first brought it the water pump went out. When i mentioned this to them they said they would replace it BUT this was after i told them something else didnt work on the car that they had already SUPPOSEDLY fixed. I requested to have the parts and take to my own mechanic for fixing because i knew they would be getting old parts without warranty. I was told i could not do that. Fast forward, my alternator went out (it happens right?) I enrolled in this extended warranty for all MAJOR parts of the engine which i specifically told the salesman this. However, when the alternator went out he selected SEALS AND GASKETS to be covered NOT the other alternate choice which was THE ALTERNATOR. Who in their right mind would pick seals and gaskets over a alternator or air conditioning unit being covered I dont know!!! I thought i had got an amazing deal on a car BUT it turned out i got taken advantage of. I have a very nice looking car but when people ask me where i got it from i tell them YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW! I even removed the license plate cover that has their dealership on it. I will never step in their doorway again. I hope and pray no one close to me or someone i dont know would deal with them. My husband and I bought a GMC Acadia and a Pontiac GTO. We signed papers stating they would repair my glove box on the acadia, a tire sensor, and give it a detail since it wasn't done at purchase. After the "shop" inspected the glove box they decided it couldn't be fixed without doing the whole dash. The tire was "resealed" but coincidence I now have issues with the front tire not holding air instead of the rear. It also developed a popping after purchase and they said they fixed the sway bar links. Funny we just fixed the sway bar links and struts 6 months later because the noise returned. Also 6 months after purchase while on vacation the batter and alternator went out almost causing a fire. The GTO had the catalytic convertors go out 6 months after purchase. DO NOT waste your money or time here. Can't wait to trade this stupud acadia in!! read more
