they don't know what they are doing or they don't care. They put in the wrong part! Costly mistake for me.

They quoted me approximately $200 for switching out a side mirror. I asked for a diagnosis on my bulbs too and they insisted everything looked good. Just a week before I had it taken to Seattle Volvo dealership and they told me what was wrong with it, and it was obvious looking at the bulbs they weren't the same on both sides. I ended up buying an OEM mirror with the backplate for $60 which included shipping. I know little about cars, and yet with no tools I replaced it in 5 minutes with no difficulty. They charge way more for their services, and at least for Volvo cars, I wouldn't trust their diagnostic abilities. I took it to imported car services in Pullman and they fixed the bulb and showed me the old one (horribly corroded to the point even I knew it was bad). It's been great ever since now and this was about 2 years ago. Take a gamble somewhere else. I hope Jerry's improves but it seems like their business relies on optimal position and offering rides to students to drop them off or pick them up. I will say that it was a great selling point to have for Jerry's, but I'm saddened that this is the only positive point I've been able to write about. read more

They put a new starter in. Works great. However, right when the starter was put in, new problems arised. With that being said, I took it back to have them look at it. They claimed it was a MINOR transmission leak. The next morning, all 4.5 quarts of transmission fluid... GONE! It was bone dry in the container you put it in. Called them again, they didn't seem to know much about it. It's a leak Jerry! Overnight without running it and its gone! How the heck? These people are out to get your money. How convenient that I get 1 thing fixed and now need multiple other things to be fixed. The day after I get something fixed. Had no issues with anything like this before. Do NOT put your business or money to this company. They are liars, greedy, and will ruin your car piece by piece. I check my car regularly and didn't notice this until after the starter was put in when I realized my transmission fluid kept pouring out. This was a little under 2 years ago. Update: I ended up taking the car to the Subaru dealership. I told them exactly what I felt the issue was and exactly how to replicate it. Thet checked it out, drove the car, and agreed that there was in fact an issue... unlike Jerry who told me to "learn how to drive better". The dealership was extremely polite and friendly. In fact, their diagnosis was exactly what I told them I thought the issue was. They will be getting my business and money from now on. I will never, ever recommend Jerry's again and will let everyone I know what kind of customer service I received from the owner. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I came here out of necessity once when my belt tensioner was giving out and I needed to make the drive to Seattle in two days. There are a few reasons why I gave this place such a low review (I'd have given 0 stars if I could): 1. I was overcharged about $200, based on what I've heard from other mechanics. (These mechanics were in Seattle, where cost of living is much higher and prices are inflated, making this price even more absurd.) 2. Since the repair, my car has been slowing draining power, and Jerry quoted me another $90 just to CHECK what is drawing power (for reference, if you have a multimeter and 20 minutes, you can isolate the system drawing power from your battery. This $90 was before any actual work was done to the car, so I passed and have done it myself since. Find yourself an honest mechanic, I don't want anybody else to fall prey to this establishment. I've heard very good things about Heritage here in Pullman, odds are if I need anything done to my car I will end up going there next time. read more

Always the first place I think to call when I need my vehicle inspected. Always happy with the service we receive. I live 25 minutes out of town and work in Pullman, often with my two little ones in tow. Jerry's has always had someone available to help me get to work, unload all my things and kids, and then they take my car to the shop, returning to pick me up at the end of the work day. My car was due for a tune-up. Somehow, in 3 hours, Jerry's crew managed to make a crack in the engine, drained the cooling fluid from the tank and then cautioned me not to drive out of Pullman or my engine would fail. He began to ring up prices for a new engine after charging me $196 (!!!!!!!!!!!) for a tune up! I drove the car 300 miles to Seattle and back to Pullman without a problem and just got the engine fixed with JB Weld fluid. Jerry set me up to fail after taking all my money. If I hadn't gotten a quote elsewhere in town I would have paid 4 times the amount I did for the parts and repairs I needed. There is absolutely no shame in shopping around with mechanics, especially if you aren't familiar with cars. You will get charged at Jerry's for them to look at your vehicle and provide you an estimate which is not something all mechanics in Pullman will do. My son is a student at WSU and his car broke down on Friday. I had his car towed to Jerry's immediately. After describing the problem to Jerry, his technician realized that my son's car is the 3rd one towed to his shop that day for the same reason. Turns out they all pumped water contaminated gas from the same gas station. I spoke to Jerry personally and he was absolutely phenomenal. He assured me that he would test my son's car for any damage and he'll get back to me immediately. He did and my son's car is up and running and damages paid for by the filling station. I'm very impressed that the shop owner (Jerry) personally took care of my son and kept me informed the whole time. I got the "family owned" treatment. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP!!! read more

Jerry's Auto is just what I needed. I had an oil change done yesterday (January 23rd). Jerry and his assistants were very nice and sharp over the phone on the day before while I was price shopping. I was looking at Jiffy Lube, but Jiffy Lube is very often referred to as a place that will gladly hose you for costs you do not need. I figured Jerry would not hose me, and he did not. In fact, he saved me money by telling me to go with a synthetic oil blend, instead of straight synthetic. He also threw on a $10 off coupon, and for an oil change, it cost me less than $40. Jerry was a very nice man, and his place felt like a slice of home. He even had a super nice Male pitbull in his office. Moreover, they had a driver in a shuttle to take me back to campus to be ready for my impending class. Jerry's Auto Repair is a small-town company, and it is a relationship in Pullman that everyone should make. read more

Wow, I have never experienced such horrible customer service. My husband and I had a horrible experience at Jerry's today. But then again we get it, things happen, but customers should have a right to post a negative review if they received horrible service. We just got a call from Jerry himself after he saw our negative review on here, I have never seen my husband so frustrated. Jerry had apparently seen my husbands negative review and instead of saying, "I am sorry, what can I do to make it right so you are a return customer" he proceeded to berate my husband and I quote telling him that "posting a negative review on Yelp was a cowardly act" and calling him "a child" asking him if he even had "a real job or is this a millennial thing." A fuse in my truck blew and was actually a breaker so he took the breaker out and replaced it with an original fuse.($12-$15 fix). He decided the time it took to find a blown fuse was instead $300 and as soon as I asked him where he found the problem in the truck, he Immediately told me the technician was on lunch. I had a terrible experience at Jerry's Auto Repair. I would give them 0 stars if possible. They lied to me and overcharged me. I came to get a safety check on my car to make sure it was still safe to drive. They told me that I had a "massive leak" in my rack and pinion which is a major steering component and gave me an estimate for $1,500. They also told me my break fluid was old although I had just gotten it flushed a few months before. I called another shop who quoted me $700, less than HALF the cost for the same replacement. When I brought my car into the new shop they showed me there was NO LEAK in the rack and pinion and my car had no issues and is safe to drive. Jerry's Auto Repair took advantage of me and tried to make an unnecessary and costly repair that was not needed. I am a young woman and David, the employee who was trying to fool me, most have seen me as an opportunity to gain some extra cash and tried to deceive me into thinking my car was dangerous and needed a major repair. This is unacceptable and I encourage you to search for auto repairs elsewhere. read more

I have taken my car at Jerry's Auto Repair several times and every time I brought my car for repair, I have very positive experience. I have brought my car here for minor and slightly major repair. I am very impressed with Jerry's professionalism, honesty, and he is a man of integrity. He never tried to screw me over because I am a woman and he looks out for my best interest. He never pressured me to buy his products or the repair he was offering and he was always hands off, allowing the customer decide what they want to do. This is the very reason why I keep coming back to Jerry's Auto Repair and even if another mechanic may offer the same repair for a lower price, I'll still come back to have my car repair at Jerry's because he was good to my car and to me. I trust Jerry with taking care of my car. It's the customer service he provides, and he follows-up, by calling, sending e-mail, and sends you reminders of when you need to get oil change for instance and sends you coupon in the mail to help save money. It is very hard to find a reliable, professional and honest mechanic anywhere . I trust Jerry with my vehicle and know that the repair is a tip-top quality. He will at least do the best he can if he can repair the issue with your vehicle. If he cannot, he or someone in his business will refer you to a mechanic who can. I got stuck down in Pullman during spring break because my 2000 subaru outback needed a new o2 sensor. I already knew this because I got it tested for FREE at oriely's auto parts. Jerry charged me $80 to test it again. I know the part is about $70 and that the labor isn't difficult. He was going to charge me about $50 more for labor if I went out and bought the part myself, just so he could sell me his $150 part! Sad. Sitting in the waiting room I can tell this place makes bank off expensive "tests" and hugely marked up parts. Then he has the audacity to tell me his shop need a certain gross profit per hour or he will have to close shop. Don't come here if you have ANY other options. read more

I'm going to give this place a 1 star review for multiple reasons. The first off, customer service. Solely alone the Yelp reviews mention this being an issue a lot. I'll start out with the fact that the owner responds to all the bad reviews quite rudely which means he doesn't care to have returning customers in my opinion. As a business you also aren't supposed to respond to bad reviews UNLESS it's to apologize and ask what you could've done better for next time. Anyways, I took my car in to get the water pump replaced, the quote was cheaper than any place around town but now I know why. I made the appointment to take my car in a week and a half in advance. I dropped it off around 8am cause Jerry said if I did then it could get done by the end of the day. I was told right up front that it probably wouldn't get done by the end of the day. I really didn't understand since they had 10 hours to work on it? But whatever. I'll mention too that the front desk guy was rude to me. I drove by the shop 2 and a half hours after i dropped it off to find out it still wasn't getting worked on. Around 2 I called a friend who knew the shop to see if they could get more info about what was happening because whenever I asked or called, I was talked over. Clearly they'll listen to a man better than a woman because they told him it was just getting pulled in. AT 2 PM? said it probably wasn't going to get done by closing time but that they would try. Well 10 minutes before close I had a friend drive me down to go check on it, guess what! it was sitting in the back not getting worked on once again. So they say it'll be done Monday evening. Called this morning to remind them that i would be a bit late after they closed to get it because I worked until 5, they said they would "do their best to meet my timeline" my timeline was friday evening like i had been quoted but to already hear again that it might not be done? I was pissed. Called my friend again and we started look to have my car removed from the shop and taken somewhere else. When he called they told him how it had been getting worked on for the last 3 hours and if I wanted to move it then I would've be charged for all the labor. And that's fine, i understand that. So we left my car to get fixed at Jerry's. He called a bit later to recommend I get a new chain for my engine (can't remember the exact name at this moment) but he said the part would be $249. That's completely ridiculous to me because a different shop told me that would only charge me $40 for the part. All in all, I don't recommend this shop. Yeah the quote may be cheaper but it's much more worth spending the extra bit of money to get it done somewhere else. edit: in response to Jerry's comment; my unhappiness comes from your shitty customer service. I would give half a star if I could. I dropped off my car for an inspection at 8:30am as I am in he process of selling it. It was the buyer's choice of place not mine. For starters they charge way too much for an inspection considering dealers usually do it for free. Already I wasn't a fan. When we dropped it off they said it would be ready by noon, I called at 1pm when I hadn't heard from them and they hadn't even gotten to it yet. They said it would be ready at 2:30. In he end I was told 5pm and it wasn't ready until 6pm. On top of all that they found several things wrong with it that Jess Ford had said were fine not two months ago.
