I've had this gentleman's video sites saved on my computer for years, ever since I saw some of his early work. I was also too far away to visit in person. He appears to not only make good videos, but does excellent mechanical work. In the last few months I have had a problem with oil getting into my cooling system on a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. It appeared to be a defective 'oil cooler'. I replaced it, and things appeared OK for about a month,...then it began again. I decided to bypass this silly oil cooler on such a small v6 engine, and that appears to have fixed it, but I still have a very small oll leak in that area? I have looked for any video that South Main might have done on such a subject, but found none??.. ...so no other folks have had problems with faulty oil coolers that car designers/builders have be putting on these small engines?.....and what for?...they are not of such a size or extreme use (like racing) to need an oil cooler for the engine?? read more

Not only do I learn a lot about cars and get a bunch of laughs while watching the South Main Youtube channel, but after watching perhaps 50 episodes and observing the interaction between Mr and Mrs O, I am actually thinking of sticking my toes back into the waters of not only marriage but also running a business as a couple. It is clear that they are great people and that God has blessed them, and what makes them so special is how willing they are to share the good life they have going with the rest of us to give us some hope. My only complaint is that there are too few videos of brake jobs involving rusted-on rotors, and that Mr. O uses brake cleaner only AFTER removing the old parts (I worry that he's breathing in that toxic dust by pounding on the parts before spraying them down). read more

I loved the Miata clutch replacement video. Helped me on my 1999 Miata clutch job. I hit many roadblocks and I used Eric's tricks many times. A metal block gets rust-welded on. I did what Eric did although what most people do is drill a bolt and slam something very heavy down to get the metal block out. The power plant frame makes it difficult for the clutch to be replaced. His tricks worked for us. Keep up the good work. No magic 'fairy dust' used when I did the work- took me 5 days, takes Eric a few hours- but I didn't break any bolts by using penetrating fluid. He's definitely a 5-star mechanic with TONS of good advice. read more

I'm an avid viewer of SMA's YouTube channel. Eric O is top tier technician. He is at the top of his game and is very smart and gives every single job 110% or "the full beans" as he likes to say. Lol. Without the help of Eric O. and Mrs. O., my vehicle would be in shambles. From replacing brake linings to finding bad ground issues on my daily driver, the instructions from South Main Auto have been clear and informative. I was also able to use the information from his channel to resolve a parasitic draw in my DeLorean that was coming from a malfunction in my head unit.
