We have been using Dr. Palmer for 20 years. We are very pleased with the level of care our dogs and…read morecats have received. I always ask about the cost of every test or procedure before it's done, as I don't like surprises. I'm sure it's annoying to staff, but they remain professional. We have had to put down a few pets, and staff were always compassionate (you do have to pay in advance, I assume folks - not us - have run out on their bills before?). Our puppy's recent spay/hernia procedure went over budget (they couldn't complete it in one visit because her temperature dropped), but they worked with us to correct her bill. At the end of the day, it's a business, and good vet care costs money. Very Happy with their services. Dr. Palmer is the best!

Several issues with Palmer though, to their credit they did try to smooth things over with me in…read morethe (very) end. I still think it's fair to alert the public about my experience; 1. (A positive): staff is among the nicest front staff I've ever experienced at a vet practice. However: 2. My very healthy dog became violently ill after licking the walls for a few seconds (she was only there to accompany my other dog). Was there a sanitary issue? 3. My sweet border collie came back from boarding here with one side of her rear end very closely shaved. I didn't notice this at first because it looked like just one track of a shaver had been used across her in an area of very long hair so I thought I was seeing things at first. But when I examined her closely and realized she'd certainly been shaved, the practice administrator and even the owner flatly denied any shaving, even implying maybe I'd done it. The owner said that they'd washed my dog (I specifically asked for no baths), and when I asked why he couldn't tell me. She also ended up with dermatitis in the same area where she was shaved which I had to get medication for. The administrator was very nice and they eventually offered to pay for the subsequent vet visit which I declined. They said they would try to get to the bottom of this but I never heard back. What I'm left believing is that they will not obey instructions left for boarders and they will do whatever they want to your pet while boarding and will not take responsibility for whatever ills may happen in their care. I still feel like she was allowed to sit in her kennel too long and somehow got excrement on her fur which was carelessly shaved off so I wouldn't see. This is the only way I can explain the bacterial infection that resulted and had to be medicated in the same area where she was shaved. And finally; 4. Because they have what they call a "hospital cat" that is given free, apparently limitless range of the practice, and that will destroy bags of food, they leave an open bag of food in the patient waiting area. This is incredibly negligent because; A. The cat can carry any amount of bacteria or disease or organism found all over the practice on its paws as it is allowed to walk on everything (incomprehensibly negligent for an hygienic facility that is meant to be a safe place for ailing animals!); B. The cat is already obese - isn't that a health issue?? C. The open food is positioned on the lowest shelf of a rack immediately beside an exam room - so both of my dogs, who saw it before I did - tried to take some samples (one successfully). One of my dogs had severe allergies and a GI disease. Good grief! So I'm sorry to say, I would avoid this practice.

Happily paid for any and all that was recommended. Even when Dr.Wilson removed what he said was a tumor from my then 4 year old chihuahua and it turned out it was a healthy, normal salivary gland. We didn't get angry or argue having to pay for what turned out to be a completely unnecessary surgery. We accepted that doctors are human too and moved on. We put our trust in them, gave them respect and never questioned their recommendations. We spent tens of thousands of dollars there. We sent them gifts in appreciation. And in return some of them have treated us like garbage. We had an issue with their groomer, Amy. My dog was injured during grooming(per their report)but again we weren't angry at the time or blaming. We figured those things happen sometimes. But her response was to completely shut down and refuse to give any information that could help treat my dog. Over the next few months, my dog had to have her toe removed. And still the management staff and groomer treated us like we had done something wrong! Again we never blamed, never asked for compensation, we simply said because Amy wouldn't communicate we didn't want to use her as a groomer. From that point many of the staff was cold and at times out right rude to me. When we finally expressed unhappiness with the treatment and handling of things the office manger, Marney made it clear our continued business was not wanted. They were happy to let a client of over 15 years leave because they prioritized their groomers ego over a long term client

The cost was $500 just for the cremation, which through a non-emergency vet would be around $200. Because of the holiday I could not transport the body to a vet and so paid up. Then I was shown a folder of memorial urns and items I could buy. I was appalled. Grieving people do not make good choices, but usurious Agape thinks it can make more bucks by playing on our sorrow. But the real horror, after all that, was finding out my cat's cremains were being shipped through the post office--the cheapest way possible and so insulting. sending your pet home on a mail truck. I was able to get the cremains off the truck and to the vet, but for $500 I should have received Fed Ex kid glove treatment. I fault the vet clinic for using this greedy company. I have had other cats cremated and have never experienced such treatment. I just wonder if the ashes I get will be my cat's--some places take videos of their cremations, but I expect Agape has no proof the ashes are whose they say they are. Shame on them.

I'd have HAPPILY driven to the facility to retrieve them if given the option- which I was not. The thought of him in the back of the truck all day, bouncing around with people's online shopping orders made me sick. Then I get the ashes, and when I went to take 1/4 tsp to send away for memorial jewelry, it was nearly impossible to get 1/4 tsp of smooth ash as the container is FULL OF BIG BONE fragments! I cannot believe how lazy and uncaring this company is. Utterly heartbreaking experience. EDIT: I would like to note that a manager has called, twice, and offered a refund, additional mementos and to reprocess. He confirmed that the state I received Max back in was not up to their standards. I appreciate his sincerity, and just wish this never happened in the first place.
