We started using Old Farm in 2007. We have had 6 dogs cared for there over the years. Some of them with extensive medical needs. We never questioned a test or procedure. Happily paid for any and all that was recommended. Even when Dr.Wilson removed what he said was a tumor from my then 4 year old chihuahua and it turned out it was a healthy, normal salivary gland. We didn't get angry or argue having to pay for what turned out to be a completely unnecessary surgery. We accepted that doctors are human too and moved on. We put our trust in them, gave them respect and never questioned their recommendations. We spent tens of thousands of dollars there. We sent them gifts in appreciation. And in return some of them have treated us like garbage. We had an issue with their groomer, Amy. My dog was injured during grooming(per their report)but again we weren't angry at the time or blaming. We figured those things happen sometimes. But her response was to completely shut down and refuse to give any information that could help treat my dog. Over the next few months, my dog had to have her toe removed. And still the management staff and groomer treated us like we had done something wrong! Again we never blamed, never asked for compensation, we simply said because Amy wouldn't communicate we didn't want to use her as a groomer. From that point many of the staff was cold and at times out right rude to me. When we finally expressed unhappiness with the treatment and handling of things the office manger, Marney made it clear our continued business was not wanted. The Snoot usually focuses on food and sometimes a non-food experience rises to the level of importance for the good of the larger community. Now I don't know how this practice performs w dogs and so please only consider this review if you are a cat owner - go elsewhere! How does the Snoot feel so strongly? Because our cat just had a wonderful visit at a cat only vet and they correctly diagnosed and treated our lovely boy for a modest charge. The vet dude at this place on the other hand failed to diagnose correctly and was dismissive of our concerns and was eager to perform a bunch of expensive procedures. Snoot says no. Insist on nothing but the best when eating out AND caring for your dear kitty friends. NOT FELINE SKILLED in our experience. I wish it wasn't so. read more

This place has a cat groomer who cuts ur cats hair very crooked and when u tell them about it for the next time, they tell u don't come back. Like she walks on water and never makes any mistakes. That's the groomer. She needs to get over herself. I let the first crappy haircut go but when the second time it was worse then the first, I had to say something. And no matter how they try to lie and twist things, I know what really went down. She thinks she's all that. Guess again, ur not. Big attitude all because she can't take criticism. That's just Tuff. Dr. Wilson and his staff at Old Farm Vets have been taken the absolute best care of my dog over the past almost 12 years; he and his staff always go the extra mile to make sure we are well taken care of, respond quickly to questions, and call to check in on my pup when he's been sick. Most importantly, Dr. Wilson has been spectacular. As my pup ages, we've come across a few health issues, and Dr. Wilson consistently gives thoughtful, systematic plans to work through what's going on. He has a wonderful balance of helping me know when not to worry about my dog's health and when it's time to take some extra steps. He has an amazing gut instinct for what's going on and always takes the time to answer all my questions during the visits as well as over the phone. In fact, as good as Dr. Wilson is with my dog, I also have appreciated how good he is with me, when I worry over my pup's health :) read more

I've tried a number of groomers in Frederick county for my medium sized curly labradoodle and think the grooming services he recently received at Old Farm Veterinary Hospital are probably the best. The groomer is both professional and skillful. My dog's cut and groom was the best he's had so far in his 4 years and was also reasonably priced. read more

I was ambushed with a new kitten from a feral litter and noticed he had congestion and liquid eye discharge. The Humane Society was kind enough to financially help with my first vet visit and Old Farm was recommended and close to home. I was pleasantly surprised at the attentiveness and thoroughness of the staff and Dr. at Old Farm. We decided to stick with this veterinarian since my dog Gunner's previous owners had all of his records here. I am happy to say I have been very pleased with the service we have received on every visit. The office is kept squeaky clean with plenty of space and multiple appointment rooms. They provide treats to keep your pup busy while you are checking out at the front desk. Both of the doctors here are very responsive and informative. I feel very comfortable asking them all of my questions. What I really like is that I can drop my pup off before work and they will check him out if it is an emergency. I will always get a phone call updating me on their findings, and will pick him up with his necessary meds after work. The stay during the day is free of charge! They also allow you to set up appointments online, and will send you reminder emails when you have any booster shots or other treatments due for your pet. I love the convenience of this service. Overall this veterinarian has provided me and my pup excellent service and we will continue to come back! read more

We knew that we needed a new veterinarian, but had not looked into it when illness struck. In my rush to research local vets, I had read very positive reviews about Old Farm and Dr. Wilson. From scheduling our big boy Max for a visit to meeting Dr. Wilson and the staff at Old Farm, I felt welcome and important-although Max may have felt a bit different. (He is doing wonderfully, now!) As things tend to happen in our home, our oldest kitty, MK, was not feeling well by the end of the same week. When she hadn't bounced back to her old self by Sunday, I was very worried. I called on Monday and was able to get her in that same day. Once again, the doctor and staff could not have been nicer. MK did not even crab too much about her visit-turns out, it wasn't anything as horrific as I had playing in my mind. From both visits, I had the overall feeling that this was one heck of a competent team, which I had not always felt at other vet hospitals. Dr. Wilson explained what was going on in each instance with great clarity. I never felt confused or out of the loop on what was happening during our appointments. The office is clean and comfortable. It's also quiet-then again, they didn't have our two dogs boarding there! Which brings me to the niceties of the practice. They offer grooming and boarding, too. Staff is friendly and efficient. Never a long wait in the waiting room, which is important to me since my pets get scared of strange animals. They always do a follow up call after a sick visit which is nice. The exam rooms are clean. It is a lot more quiet than my previous vets office. At my prev vet it was always very loud with nonstop barking and other commotion going on. Old Farm seems to be a nice laid back atmosphere for sick fur babies! read more

I just finished my first visit with Old Farm. We needed a new vet as we have recently moved to the area. They were able to get me in quickly when I called to schedule the appointment. All of the staff are wonderful; very polite and friendly. Dr. Wilson did a great job examining my cat. He recommended some things to improve his health, but wasn't pushy or aggressive in attempting to sell me things. They did a great job attempting to calm my cat down during the examination and vaccination. In all, a great vet that I will be returning to with my other cat! read more

My dog (Boss) a Rottweiler was a patient on 6/14/16 approximately 3:20pm. The assistant gave me a muzzle because my dog was showing aggression. I was introduced to Dr. "DJ" Hitner. He entered the room my dog lunged at him. The Dr. became very afraid, by the minute. He asked where my dog was being boarded. I told him Germantown Vet. He said I need to let them know how aggressive my dog is because he can do damage and he doesn't want anyone at Germantown Vet to get hurt. I informed him Germantown Vet is very aware of his personality and has NO issues with it. Per Germantown Vet., they have many Rottie patients and doesn't have a problem with my dog. He rambled on, in obvious fear. He said he will have to sedate him. I asked if Dr. Wilson was in, as he was the treating vet on the last visit. He told me, "I think Dr. Wilson is gone". I asked if he could make sure because he was more comfortable treating Boss. Dr. Hitner left the room and NEVER returned. After 15 minutes I called Germantown Vet, she told me to bring him in and they would administer the shot. Germantown Vet squeezed him in. As soon as we arrived we were in a room within 2 minutes. Dr. Robin A. Gryskiewicz saw Boss. She was AWESOME, confident and unafraid. She gave me a muzzle, he lunged at her she stood her ground and spoke directly to him (nicely). I comforted him, my husband held him close, Dr. Robin with Germantown Vet rubbed Boss and spoke to him a bit to comfort him. She then gave the shot and it was over. If you have a large breed dog or a small breed dog that may display aggression, stay away from Old Farm Veterinary Hospital unless you are seeing Dr. Wilson. If Dr. Wilson isn't available, TAKE your pet to Germantown VET. Dr. Robin A. Gryskiewicz will take care of him and insist on doing it without a sedative. Honestly Dr. Wilson should consider getting another Dr. who actually went to school to help ALL breed of dogs and know how to handle himself in any given situation. We were new to Frederick about three years ago and with three fur babies, we are often in need of a vet for one reason or another. It's so hard to be new in an area and find quality care and compassion for our pets when needed most. But it was truly our luck that on the first try, we found Old Farm Vet and Dr. Wilson and Dr. Hiltner. Form the first visit to the last, we couldn't have been more satisfied with the care and concern they showed, every time. Making appointments and getting in when needed was never a problem, and we never felt rushed once we got into the examination room with the doctor. They take their time and answer all questions patiently and thoroughly. When our pets are in for an illness or injury, they always call later in the day or the next day to check on us, which is so awesome! We couldn't be more pleased with our veterinarian and sadly, we are moving out of the area so we're back in that same boat of finding good quality vet care in a new area.
