I have a scooter and a close friend has a motorcycle and a scooter. We've both been going to SPC for most of our needs and we agree that they have done right by us. Personally, I purchased my scooter from them (brand new, very affordable). I blew a tire on the debris of Philly and they were able to replace it within a couple of days. The one problem is that some projects take a while. My friend had taken his older motorcycle to 3 mechanics in the city to fix the electrical. They all charged him, but nobody was able to resolve the issue. Arnie was able to fix it and there hasn't been an issue since (it's been over a year). This did take about a month to accomplish, but frankly, during the summer, I think there are fewer mechanics than work out there. read more

Had my plugs done here once. I called the shop to see when it would be done, and they said it would be done by 4:30 so I walk there. Long story short, I got my bike back at 8 that night. They said a nest or something was in the air filter compartment or something like that. Seems to be a weird trend they have of not getting things done when they say they will. Bike ran fine but I don't like having my time wasted, especially when its that bullshit like "oh its almost done" or "oh just 20 more minutes". I was supposed to head down the shore that night - in the sunlight. Ended up not going till the next morning because I dont like riding at night. UPDATE: Dropped it off again a FIVE WEEKS AGO. I moved out of Philly and could do without it for a week, maybe two. 2 weeks go by - nothing. I call and I get the "I was out all week and I was sick". 3 weeks goes by - "we had a death in the family" FIVE WEEKS GO BY so I call and ask (its STILL not done) and I get "my kid was in a car accident". ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???? The kicker is, is that all it needed was a tune up (that they didn't do right the first time) and a new battery. 5 goddam weeks for a tune up and a battery. These people are straight trailer trash and honestly I don't know how they stay in business. read more

Juan was very nice to work with however, I do not think I would buy from them again. I am from Maryland and purchased a bike. I asked for a inspection paperwork to make sure that bike has been inspected and they could not provide one. Okay no problem, because I have to get it MD inspected anyway. There was false advertisement on the bike. Ad said it had 16K on it, but when I turned the bike one It had 26K. At this point I had already purchased the bike. The oil was SOOO BLACK, has not been changed in who knows how long!!! Also the front sprocket cover was missing. If my pants would have got caught in there. There were other fairings missing but non as important as the sprocket cover. The foot brake was not connected to the rear break light, so I had to pay for a part for that, and get it install. I would just be aware of what you are purchasing from them! read more

After making an appointment and bringing my bike in for a routine tune-up (which took almost two weeks to do) picked it up and it had a really bad ticking sound when i accelerate, brought it back in to have it checked on again and the dude tells me it has nothing to do with what he did to the bike (of course), but it just magically started ticking after he did the tune-up??? so now i have to pay to have somebody else fix it so do yourself a favor and take your bike to someone who knows what they're doing and save yourself some money and time Update* -after less than a month it's only got worse and now my bike hesitates and sputters when accelerating and I've never had any problems before coming here stay away from this place unless you want a huge headache read more

I gave Arn one more chance than I should have. After the first mediocre experience I figured I'd give him another shot because he keeps a huge, friendly dog at the shop. Unfortunately, his cartoonishly racist dad also hangs around the shop. Dropped off the bike in August 2010. Couple months went by, he said it'd be done by Thanksgiving. Wasn't done by Thanksgiving, didn't hear from him again until I finally got a hold of him (he doesn't believe in returning calls) in late FEBRUARY. It wasn't so bad because it wasn't my primary ride and I got free winter storage out of the deal. He said that after having my bike for 7 MONTHS he needed just one more week. That one week turned into 3. Picked the bike up and got a meek apology. Still isn't a 3 kick bike like he said he'd make it. If you're into being treated like a total dickhead or you just want to check out a bad blonde dye job on an old hesher give that sorry bastard Arn a call. read more

I brought my bike to Arnie and Lynn about two weeks ago regarding a charging issue the bike was having the state of the rectifier was absolutely destroyed he assured me that with the parts that I brought him he would be able to get it back together now the work that this bike need it if anybody's familiar with the 2004 R6 rectifier isn't plug-and-play it needs to be connect it to a third connection which plugs into the stator which then plugs into the rectifier through a conduit box which is filled with wires I was absolutely flabbergasted when I looked into there and seen how burnt the wires were and how crazy everything looked. Long story short Arnie did a great job at getting the wires done getting the burnt wires out of the way replacing them with new wires and getting everything wired up the right way and into the rectifier and the rectifier connected the way it should be where it can get the most airflow and not overheat. The job took a little bit longer than was supposed to but for the for the level of kindness and service that you receive from Arnie and Lynn especially with that being a small business that's understandable and it's fine by me when you go in there the first minute you talked to Arnie and Lynn you're on a first-name basis with these guys. And that means a lot to me because my bike means a lot to me! So 100% kudos to Arnie and Lyn at South Philly Cycles as long as everything goes right and stays good like he says I will absolutely be returning customer in the future God forbid LOL read more

This shop is great. The owners are super friendly and have always done a great job on my motorcycle. There was a time I did not think I would be riding my bike again, but they were able to find the problem and it was not as major as I was thinking. I am very thankful for all the help I got from this place. read more
