Highway hounds picked up my dog and had him for 3 days before they killed him. After searching their Facebook page, the post they made was clearly for promotional purposes rather than trying to find his owner. My dog helped me with anxiety and highway hounds killed my dog.

I really love this organization!...it's ALL about the animals and finding them furever…read morehomes...finding fosters to keep them out of the shelters until transport is key...they love their foster families!...Im not able to foster myself, but I try to do my part in walking the dogs on transport day, transporting an animal to and from wherever they need to go, vet/foster/shelter/transport day/....also taking donations of food/new or old blankets/bath rugs/towels/any old/new toys/basically anything that can be old or new because they provide everything the foster will need to foster correctly....it's a really great program!

They do an excellent job vetting each dog before making them available for adoption, and they have a fantastic return policy in the rare case that the dog doesn't work out with its adopted furever home. I had the opportunity to meet some of the dedicated volunteers who assist in the overall process of helping the dogs that come to our area for adoption. I loved their compassion and commitment to them. they were very responsive to my questions/inquiries about Cooper and any of his medical needs/situations. I highly recommend TTR and the pups they bring to us. They are not in this for the money at all. It's all about the dogs, and their commitment and efforts are unmatched. Also, I found their adoption rates to be very reasonable for what you get in return. I highly recommend TTR as a quality source for adopting a rescue companion. I found my little dog Copper online, but he was in Texas. I was excited when I found out he had come north to the Baltimore area for an adoption event at the Pet Smart in Abingdon, hoping to find a furever home. I found the Facebook page for TTR ( https://www.facebook.com/talltailsrescue ) and saw the live feeds for the 3rd Saturday/Sunday adoption event at Pet Smart. It was there I got to see Cooper beyond his internet picture. He was very yappy and had a sign on his cage that read, "CAUTION: do not reach your finger into the cage. I'm a bit timid." The live video posted at the end of the adoption day was calling for Foster parents for the 3 dogs that had not been adopted. Needless to say, of the many small dogs they brought up for the adoption day, Cooper was the only one that did not get picked. Gee, imagine that! But, something in his eyes and his behavior suggested he was really innocent. So, I made arrangements to meet him and long story shorter, I learned that he had been through a lot of hardship as a puppy at just a year old, and I realized his yappness was actually him crying out for help. He has turned out to be a very sweet and loving companion. A total under-the-covers boy who wants to stay near me. Yet, at 15lbs, he has enough moxie to handle my 80lb female Staffy, Pitbull, Lab mix, Luna. Another rescue, that is Cooper's running mate. Cooper is still a bit yappy a times but, he's learning to change that behavior very quickly. He's an incredibly smart dog. I will be having him DNA tested soon but, he appears to be a Jack Russell, Chihuahua and Dachshund mix. What we call a Jack Chiweenie! Yep...all dogs with moxie! Ken R Hyattsville, Md

She posted about the dog on her social media, so me and my husband were interested in. The animal control people said the dog will be at this shelter, we went immediately to check it out. It was very cleaned and a huge shelter. There were so many animals that are needing a home there. I walked through the shelter looking for the one my friend reported and were crying looking at these babies crying for help. If I could, I would take them all home with me. The dog we were there for unfortunately had not yet arrived at the shelter. Then, we came across my baby girl, Arroz, was jumping and crying. We just knew we had to take her home with us. She is only 2 and was disowned by her old owner when they moved to a different state so she was a stray on the street for who knows how long. She developed heart-worm because of that reason. But we're completely fine with it. I wanted to give this little girl a home matter what. I didn't know it was free to adopt animal from 1-6 years old from this shelter and if your adopted animals have health conditions, they will help cover them all! They have absolutely great service, they made it super quick and easy for us to take her home and after 3 days that she's home, they reached out and checked up on her! If you're considering adopting/getting a pet, please check them out! There are so many pets awaiting for adoption!

Terrible experience…read more They do not answer the phones, their animals have been know to be ill after adopting, but they promise the animals are healthy. Dirty areas for animals, poop not cleaned, rotting food in some kennels at the locations they have the animals at. Their processing is absolutely terrible, I was going to adopt a cat they posted online about (it being popular) and they said they'd look for the right home for him. This was supposed to be fair but they decide to give it to a woman who works for them. Talk about loyalist/cliquey. Absolutely humiliating to send emails and follow ups for a cat they already knew someone on their team was going to adopt. At that point just say you're not letting him be adopted or "send your interest!" To an email they have automated replies to, not even an email disclosing to many families that won't be able to adopt him. The bigger issue when you go to their events is that they post the wrong information on the pet profiles of where an animal is, clearly nobody knew where it was and I wasted so much time going back and forth to locations the day the events were held at only to be told (after being told it was the other location the animal was at) that the animal was ADOPTED, but yeah you can "adopt another animal", you can't even meet the animals and see if they're compatible for you because adoptions are quick at these events and or are unorganized. There's too many animals from this organization at PetCo and Petsmart that don't get adopted because they're "not good" enough like "Elmer" - they don't get the adequate exposure or popularity. No wonder they refuse to take in lost pets and tell you to dump them back where you found them - "they don't have enough kennel space!" They would if they pushed these animals more like they did for a singular cat. They don't hand pick anyone for the rest of the animals and anyone could adopt them. But for a popular animal they do! Talk about morals. How do you know that the animal you let to a family isn't going to be abused or if it's the adequate household for them? There have been cases where fosters and random people at these events who adopt these animals and end up abusing them or killing them because there was no processing or background checks, just look it up if you don't believe me. But sure, give unnecessary privilege to a woman that already is in your inner circle and that cat that's going to be farmed for clout. Absolute greed and stupidity.

I purchased 12 neon tetras to split between my 2 betta tanks. Both tanks ended up being infected…read morewith ich AND columnaris. One of my bettas died and the other one is still in a hospital tank being treated. Still unsure if he's going to make it. I took all of the tetras back to the store and told them they were sick, and the girl at the counter goes "oh are these the tetras? Yeah we have them under observation now because we believe they have ich." And I was like .... Are you kidding me? I told her they killed my betta and infected the other one and she goes "oh I'm really sorry about that". I mean, to some they might just be "a fish" but these are my pets and it really hurt me to lose my girl the way that I did. She suffered having her face basically rotting off from columnaris and there was nothing I could do to help her. It killed her so fast. And I just got a "sorry". Does PetSmart not quarantine new fish to make sure they aren't sick before selling them to the public? THEY KILLED MY BETTA WHO WAS THRIVING before I put those tetras in there. I'm so mad at myself for buying fish there. I should have known better.
