It wasn't a far walk and I'm sure he didn't pick everyone up, but what a cool gesture. The dining room has large window to almost floor windows so there's tons of light and a nice view of the golf greens. The bar was set up outside of the event room and it was perfect. They set up the buffet in the outside hall and had it go one way, so I liked how the staff knew how to optimize the space. Before thhe event they had a tray pass. Only two items, but when we saw the buffet I'm glad we didn't fill up on the cream cheese stuffed peppers and the crab filled mushroom appetizers. The restrooms were clean and they had them located on both sides. This was a great space to hold an event, so I'm glad to have that on my list for the future.

I came with an almost 9 year old today (Monday) for the sunflower festival. Our tickets were for…read more10:30 and there was practically nobody else there (more at lunch time). Follow directions from whatever maps app. Parking is in the field next to the farm produce stand. Not sure when produce stand is open but it looked more lively by the time we left around 11:30. I purchased tickets online and sort of wandered into the store because it was unclear where to redeem tickets. We checked out the wall ball game and jumped on the jump pad and made big bubbles. Spun the chairs but didn't actually get in them, checked out the funny little singing tractor and sat on some bulls that had no lasso. We then wandered over to where there was a sign for sunflower field and waited for the tractor. We would've gotten a snack but settled on some waters from the store. ($2 each). Each admission comes with 1 sunflower bloom, you can get more but we weren't really interested. It was fun at the sunflower field to admire the flowers and go around the photo op spots. We both enjoyed trying to find the perfect flower. Good advice from the people at the stand to wait to pick a flower until you're waiting for the tractor - sunflowers droop pretty quick (mine perked up at home). They package it up for taking home nicely at the stand. I think this would be a good trip for an exuberant 4-6 year old and the full train of women coming out to the fields as we were leaving seemed to indicate it's a joyful ladies day trip. If you want flower pics, you can't lose here. 4 stars because it was worth doing but nothing special and I was hoping some of the games were geared towards slightly older kids.

The Museum is quite large with both indoor and outdoor space. There's a cafe area with food and drinks. I was quite impressed about the amount of activities to do from crafts, to science projects to all sorts of ways to flex your creative muscles. This was quite the experience and bonus points for all the seating for adults. I can't wait to come pack!

I think we spent close to 5 hours here and my kids would of stayed longer but I had a few stops to make and saw their was going to be some traffic going home so decided it was time to go. There 2 floors and a decent size outdoor area. It was rainy when we went but that didn't stop by kids from checking out the outdoor area. The art lab was huge. There were so many things to check out my kids were so engaged and didn't want to leave.

However, we always find a quality Noble fir if even we have to hunt a bit. This year was REALLY unusual. The Monday after T Day we went with the idea we'd have to spend time searching. The most helpful young man pointed us to a new field of Nobles. And there, no more than 10 feet in from the path was IT (visions of Clark Griswold!). There were countless more even after that Turkey Day rush. The same man came by in his tractor and asked if he could cut it down for us. He had a chain saw. I had a hand saw. No brainer!! The service and selection are first class. Topping this off is the gift shop, where you pay, has all sorts of Christmas related things, including fresh wreaths (which we bought)

Here's my highs and lows and good enoughs: 5 Stars to: -Plenty of Photo setup spots -Apple cider slush sundae -FRESH & HOT Roasted Corn -Many adult AND kid friendly activities -pumpkin assortment 1 Star for: -No back up generator (Power went out while at the farm and the poor animals were huddled up closer than the people were) -flavorless burgers 2.5 stars (aka good enough) for: -cold apple cider donuts -friendly but antisocial staff -gift shop (Felt more like a very small, 'small business' fair) I think the ticket price was a decent value for what was available!

I have been attending the Lacey Spring Fun Fair since 1987. It's a fun FREE kid oriented festival…read morelocated at Saint Martins University. There are so many things to do! There are activities, arts and crafts, photo opportunities, bouncy houses and more! Activities are located outside in the parking lot outside the Marcus Pavilion and inside the Pavilion itself. The Marcus Pavilion was filled to the brim with educational booths and art/craft booths. My daughter and I attempted to try all of them, but it was so jam-packed we were only able to visit half. We ended up spending most of the time outside. She had a great time in a bouncy house and learning about the Fire Truck. There is a stage where performing groups ranging from elementary schoolers to senior groups showed off their stuff. I performed for the Fun Fair when I was in high school. Everyone did a great job. The only time I worried was for a brief second when elementary-aged kids were singing the normally inappropriate/sexual innuendo ridden song Greased Lightning. It turned out it was the kid friendly version. Phew. Wondering if there are food booths available? Of course! In addition to various activities there are food booths selling traditional fair food. Saint Martins, of course, has one. It was SO HOT last year I parked myself near the Saint Martins booth so I could get water and extra ice. My kid ate her weight in burgers, elephant ears, and snowcones. We would have stayed for the parade had I known there was one. The parade is on the second day and closes the event. I will definitely be sure to see it this time! The Lacey Spring Fair is AMAZING. Definitely try to go on both days, if you are able! The Lacey Spring Fun Fair 2013 will be on May 18 - 19. The parade starts at 6 pm on Sunday the 19th.

Fischer's is a top-notch U-Pick berry farm…read more The location is a tad hard to find, but it's worth it! The lawn-like parking lot is located on the farm property. You park and get a bucket/buckets from the vendor. A full bucket is roughly $5 worth of berries. That's right--a whole bucket of berries for $5! Visitors are welcome to eat berries as they pick "until your mouth turns blue". There are several rows of blueberry bushes and plenty of berries for visitors! The bushes grow over 5' tall. This is an excellent summer activity. I still have a half gallon of blueberries left in my freezer. The amount I picked last summer has lasted quite a while!

Sausage Fest is truly a community festival of sausages. Is there accordion music? Check! 3 types of…read moresausage served with warm potato salad and red cabbage? Check! Are there event t-shirts for sale? Triple check! Sausage Fest is a fun all-ages event that has been around for 30 years. It is held at Gull Harbor Lutheran Church. There are two ticket 'donation' prices: One for children and one for adults. The child meal is smaller. It includes one sausage, a roll, warm potato salad, red cabbage, and a dessert. The adult meal includes knockwurst, bockwurst, and kielbasa. Tickets are available at the door or at other community vendors such as Wagner's Bakery. Parking includes the parking lot and the property behind the church. Attendants will show you where to park. When you attend Sausage Fest you should have your ticket in hand when you are ready to be seated. An attendant will take your tickets and place the order for you. You will be seated at a long 'community style' table. There is non-stop accordion and singing. Songs include The Chicken Dance, Roll Out The Barrel, Edelweiss, with some Beatles mixed in. There is a pitcher of water on the table but there is also coffee, tea, and soda available. If you don't mind paying extra you can order the specialty Sausage Fest Root Beer bottled by the Gull Harbor congregation. Honestly, the root beer is one of the reasons I attend! It's delicious and sells out quickly! Assistants are easy to spot because all of the volunteers at the event wear Sausage Fest T-shirts that have an illustration of Martin Luther on the back. If you are unable or uninterested in staying for the event, you can order your meal(s) to go. I was sick one year and had a relative pick up my order. It's a good way to go if you just want a meal without all the hubbub. I for one would rather attend if able. Nothing is better than watching the whole community get down with the Chicken Dance. This event is truly fun for all ages! Other stuff to do at Sausage Fest include buying a t-shirt containing the catchphrase "The Best of the WURST", entering in the raffles for various prizes, and of course, buying Sausage Fest Specialty Root Beer. This event is on the second Friday and Saturday of October. It's a blast and all of the proceeds go to charity. Do you think the sausage-y goodness ends on Saturday? Think again! Any unused food is for sale in bulk the following Sunday after the church service.

Nettle Fest was an absolute blast. It's a potluck style festival where attendees make and bring…read moredishes and drinks made with nettles. Folks are friendly. The food is delicious. I met a wonderful range of people and had the chance to swap recipes. I absolutely loved hearing everyone brag about their dishes! Nettle Fest is celebrated at Calliope Farm in Olympia, WA. It's all ages friendly and definitely kid friendly. I'm going again next year!
