In that sense, Providence Place Parking Garage does exactly what it's supposed to do. One thing I do appreciate is how much better it's become over the years. The garage is well marked, it's easy enough to find your way around, and there are plenty of spaces most of the time. If you're visiting during peak shopping hours or around the holidays, expect to spend a little more time looking for a spot. That's pretty much unavoidable. The first two hours of parking being free is probably the biggest selling point. It's perfect if you're running into the mall, grabbing lunch, or using it as a place to park before walking around downtown Providence. It's hard to complain about free parking in the city. Getting out can be a different story. I've seen lines back up at the exits, but honestly, that often seems to come down to drivers fumbling with the payment machines or hesitating at the gates more than any flaw with the garage itself. Once traffic starts stacking up, it slows everyone down. At the end of the day, it's exactly what it claims to be: a parking garage. It isn't especially memorable, but it serves its purpose reasonably well. You can usually find a space, the pricing is fair with the free two-hour window, and it's conveniently located. There are a few interesting food stops, including Lobanton, and even a shop dedicated to H.P. Lovecraft merchandise. I also appreciated the historical photos displayed throughout. A couple of things to note: Parking isn't free - there's a garage across the street and paid street parking nearby. Also, accessibility could be an issue - I didn't notice a wheelchair ramp on one side of the mall (maybe there's one on the other side?). Overall, it's a neat place to explore, especially if you appreciate history and architecture, but it's more of a quick visit rather than a full shopping experience.

There have also been times when security seemed a little too hands-off for my liking. That said, I think Providence Place may finally be turning a corner. The mall is still kept in good condition, the common areas are clean, and management seems to be making an effort to keep the property looking presentable. I also appreciate the free two-hour parking, which is becoming a rarity these days and makes quick trips downtown much more convenient. What keeps me coming back is that there is still a lot of potential here. My biggest wish for the future would be to see a food market added on the first floor. Something along the lines of a local public market with specialty vendors, prepared foods, coffee, and local products would bring a lot of life to the building and give people another reason to visit beyond traditional retail. Maybe it's nostalgia talking, but I'd like to see Providence Place succeed. It has been part of Rhode Island's landscape for a long time, and while it may not be in its glory days anymore, I think there are signs that better days could be ahead.

No question ever feels like a bad question when you speak with them, and that level of customer service is exactly what travelers need--whether traveling for work or pleasure. The bathrooms are definitely outdated, but they are clean and, importantly, do not smell. That may sound like a small thing, but there are plenty of businesses with much newer restrooms that cannot say the same. But they should have the option of paper towels to dry your hands, in my opinion of course, besides just hand blowers. Also one big note for the men's bathroom!! There are 2 urinals and there is no divider between them. So if you're shy or worried there may be prying eyes, then use the stalls. I've never personally eaten at the deli, but it always seems to have a steady flow of customers, so that's probably a good sign. The convenience store inside is also very useful. Prices are what you would expect at a transportation hub, although I've found them to be slightly less expensive than at some other travel locations. The station interior is currently undergoing renovations, and it appears that some exterior work is planned as well, including improvements to the sidewalk in front of the station. Hopefully, the upgrades will make an already convenient station even better. One of the best things about this station is the location. It's right downtown and very easy to access. Providence Place Mall is only a short walk away, and the park directly outside the station is a great feature that makes the surrounding area feel much more inviting. My only real caveat is access to Tracks 1 and 2. You have to go downstairs to reach them. I have not personally noticed an elevator nearby, although I would expect there is an accessible option somewhere in the station. There are escalators, but the ones I've used only travel upward rather than down toward the tracks. Overall, Providence Train Station is convenient, clean, well located, and supported by a very helpful staff. With the renovations underway, I think it has the potential to become an even better station.

The elevators are not in operation right now, so be ready to haul your bags up and down the stairs ... or... wait for the slow elevator to come up. The remodel has moved many things inside for the time being. They still have large screens for train information. It's an easy station to use since there's only two tracks.

I had specifically reminded/asked the attendant to make sure my door was locked. When the cars were returned, they were both left unattended with the doors wide open on a drizzly night, engine running, no attendant to be seen. Wanted to pass this feedback on to the business, it's essential to lock your customers vehicles and if you need to go get another car, close my door, please. I always leave an an extra tip for the valet, but I couldn't have left one this time, even if I wanted to because the attendant was MIA
