This is a nice, small train station servicing Amtrak. It's located next to the Rhode Island State House and it's only a short walk to the Providence Place Mall. The station is walking distance to restaurants and hotels, and WaterFire on the nights those fun festivities are in operation. There is a nice café there with some limited seating (Cafe LaFrance) and modern restrooms. There is a large parking garage underneath the train station. It's tight and narrow getting into the garage, and spoiler alert, this garage does fill up during the week. Overall this is a clean and well run station, and we've used it many times.

A small train station that serves Amtrak. It also serves the commuter rail of the MBTA. Providence Station has limited amenities and food options. Finding your track is really easy because there's only a few. There's not much parking around here. It kind of is like bare bones. Maybe not quite though it seems like it. There are some cafes but they close early and often there's days when they aren't ever open. Public transportation from the station has room for improvement. There's busses but these are too infrequent if you're just going to be around here a few hours or so. Clean mostly. It only has a few tracks so it's easy to find the correct one. The food options here suck except for the French cafe so consider bringing food with you.

Went to Providence recently, but flew in/out of Boston's Logan Airport. Since my son left a day earlier than we did, he took the Amtrak to the airport. The place looked clean and it seemed well-maintained. It's not that we minded driving him there, but we worried about the car traffic problems that we had when picking up my daughter before. At least with the train, he didn't have that concern. There was a place to eat and a nice gift shop there. I'm sure this won't be the last time we make use of this place.

Yep. Three stars is just about right. Non-functional Quik-Trak ticketing machines (I tried three different credit cards, and none of them were accepted). Limited seating, and limited food options (a vending machine room and Café La France). On the upside, the bathrooms are in working condition, the wi-fi is free, and ticketing agents (because, y'know, the machines don't work) are pretty efficient.

How are the two exits labeled on the inside? Is it State and City? I need to direct someone to exit where I will pick them up.

Neil is right. But just to add a bit more information. The side that exits onto Gaspee St (which is where you'd probably meet up) is labeled STATE HOUSE - PROVIDENCE PLACE MALL. The other exit over the door shows, TO GARAGE - DOWNTOWN.

My friend and I went to Boston for the weekend via the "T". This is not my first time taking the "T" but it was the first time I drove there without being dropped off. Being the super organized person that I am, I planned everything down to the last detail. I checked the MBTA website for parking information at the South Attleboro station to compare it to boarding the train in Providence, as both stops happen to be about the same distance from my home. The only information listed stated that parking was $4.00 per day and managed by a separate company called "Laz" (so this is how they separate themselves from the parking company's unfair policies). Upon arriving, I picked the spot, checked my space number, and inserted $10.00 into this ridiculously outdated contraption. Thinking $4.00 per day and then just not having the change in ones, I succumbed to the additional $2.00 (big deal, I thought). So what happens after over-paying my parking and arriving the next afternoon to get my car? You guessed it, parking ticket! This ticket doesn't give you an option to call and explain, just the option to appeal and if your appeal is denied you are charged a $20.00 surcharge. Also, if you opt to pay by phone or internet you are charged a $3.50 surcharge, plus the $1 fee that is already added for the fact that you got the ticket in the first place. Now I'm faced with a little dilemma, do I mail a check in for $5.00 (potentially risking it being misplaced) or appeal and potentially be charged more and/or deal with traffic court? Any logical person will just pay the ticket, and this is what angers me most, they back you into a corner. The website does not mention that there is no overnight parking. There are not any readily noticeable signs that read no overnight parking as I was sure to check after receiving the ticket. Alas, there is a small section on the white sign near the outdated parking contraption on the bottom left that reads "No Overnight Parking". Unlucky for me I guess, as people were blocking that bottom portion of the sign as they stood to pay that morning. So thanks South Attleboro Station for all together charging me $15 for parking. The amount is not large but the inconvenience hugely unnecessary.
