Wanted something different than the usual. Came to Pybus but all the other restaurants were full and didn't want to wait. South only had a few people seated. My partner and I decided to eat here and it was great. I knew the bartender/waiter who used to work at Dutch Bros. He was super nice (as he always is) and the food came out fast. Despite my reservations about Mexican food - I enjoyed it. Wasn't super hungry but ate everything. Including some of my partners food. I went here tonight, and it was not busy. The bartender was nice and did a decent pour. I wanted an early dinner, but dining out is sometimes difficult because I'm allergic to soy, including soybean oil. So I asked the barkeep if I could have the shrimp with coleslaw-guacamole, and some young beans. He said the coleslaw, etc. Was soy free, but they used Johnny's seasoning, which is loaded with MSG (a flavor enhancer otherwise known as a neurotoxin). I'm sensitive to it, not allergic, but it causes stomach and headaches, diarrhea. If your food is decent and fresh, properly prepared, why do you need to fake us out with chemical flavor enhancers? I asked, since it was not at all busy, if the kitchen could prepare the shrimp, salad and beans minus soy and Johnnies seasoning. "Oh, no worries!". Well, two bites into my coleslaw my mouth is buzzing from MSG. I needed to leave NIOW to get back to my hotel to pop benadryl and prepare for the unfortunate consequences. The barkeep apologized and offered to comp my meal. So what? Does it cover the three days of agony and possible trip to the clinic? People can DIE from your kitchen ignoring sensitivities and allergies! This place is not worth any of your time or money.... read more

This is still one of my favorite restaurants and I love the Latin food they serve. Taco Salad is very refreshing, green rice is yummy, tortilla soup is the perfect thing for a fall or winter day or when you are not feeling well, the burritos are yummy, and the guacamole is the bomb!!!!! The staff is always amazing, super nice, and friendly, but a couple of times in the last couple of months we have gone we got a waitress that wasn't the most friendly. We come here all the time (almost once a week) and one time we came we noticed the corn chips were different, we inquired with our waitress who claimed they hadn't changed they had been the same since she started working there a couple months ago, we said there was something different, but she continued to kind of argue with us. We asked the bar tender who we know well and he said the tortillas had been changed (or something like that), all the waitress had to do was say I don't know I can find out and find out, she never did. The same waitress, different time, I called in a pickup order, my kids always get the dipping sauce it says to ask your server about on the kids menu, I told her my kids wanted that with their meals, I didn't know what it was called only that it was a creamy dipping sauce that says ask the server about , she said what dipping sauce we don't have dipping sauce we have salsas, I said no it's not that, she said we have our creamy house dressing, I said I don't know if that's it, it might be and that I know it's creamy and I think maybe a pinkish/greenish color, I didn't know my kids just get it with their kids meals because it says on their menu ask the server. She didn't know what I was talking about, and again it almost became down to an argument and I eventually just said forget the sauce and moved on. If you are in the customer service industry you don't argue with your customers like that, you respond nicely and if you don't know you let them know, find out and fix it or let them know what you found out. I will still continue to come here because I love their food and all the other staff is friendly, and I am not going to let one waitress ruin that. No where else in this town could I find Latin food that is healthy tasting, not greasy, and easy on this person who has numerous food allergies. Thank You South for being AMAZING!!! read more

Came here for lunch and as a vegetarian, I had a million options! What a relief! We sat upstairs and had a nice view of the Pybus market. Fast service and good chips to start out. I ordered the Burrito Cubano and that was one of the most flavorful burritos I have eaten! The fried plantains inside it were phenomenal! My family and I went to South on a weekday for a quick dinner. We ended up having one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in Wenatchee. The food was mediocre at best and the service was horrible. Our appetizers and beverages came out after our dinner! I love going to South so very much. The food is always fantastic and the staff are phenomenal. I have a son with an egg allergy and every time they take special care to make sure his food is prepared without any contact to eggs. The fish tacos are amazing and the atmosphere is so inviting. I have eaten at South 3-4 times now both lunch and dinner. I am sad to say that I have been underwhelmed every time. In my opinion their prices are very high for what you get. Portions are small and you have to pay for extras you get at every other Hispanic restaurant in town. Things such as chips and salsa, beans and rice. A taco salad for lunch for $13.85? Really? I just got 2 small enchiladas for lunch with nothing else on the plate for $9.95. Really?. On top of that I don't feel the quality is that great. Average food at high prices. I really, really want to write a good review for South at Pybus because we love the restaurant in Leavenworth but we've had non-existent customer service at least 1/2 of the times we've visited. We keep going back because the food is great but at least three times we've gone and were seated and then ignored. Another time our order was goofed up twice. Went to the one in Leavenworth last year and wasn't impressed. This time sat up stairs and had the Poblano enchilada and badger mountain copper ale. My husband, daughter, and I have eaten at South in Leavenworth several times and enjoyed the food. We went to the Wenatchee location and were very disappointed in the quality of the food. My daughter and I ordered the "most popular" Carnitas Plate. The pork was so dry it was almost like jerky. My husband ordered the steak sandwich and it was just so-so. I also ordered a side of beans that were touted to be creamy and tasty, bland and boring was more like it. The margarita was also not a quality drink. The food is good, what you get of it. Having to pay extra for basic chips and salsa in a Mexican restaurant just doesn't sit well with me. The entrees are small and there are no accompaniments with most meals; again, you have to pay extra. $11.95 for an enchilada and then pay another $3.95 for rice and beans? When I paid cash for my bill, I waited a long time for my change. I finally left the tip on the table and waited and waited at the exit for my change. The waitress eventually showed up and said, "Oh, did you want change?" I did not tell her to keep it and I hate that kind of assumption. Not much more impressed with the service in Leavenworth. My husband and I always stop in Wenatchee on our road trips to refuel. This time we stopped in at Pybus market and found a great restaurant South. Great atmosphere friendly service and amazing food. I had the Baja fish tacos and my husband ate the monster burrito. We'll be back in the summer for more amazing food by the river. South at Pybus Market is steadily declining. Compared to other restaurants in the Wenatchee valley, South is too high priced and not much quanity for what you pay for. A burrito bowl and three fish tacos with two drinks should not cost $72. If they want to survive in the Market, they need to go back to the original concept that made them so good (the menu used to be much better). I think the owner needs to understand what the consumer wants and desires more than just making a good profit. It is no longer a first choice for me. The staff is wonderful though. read more
