They do a great job during COVID, the process is smooth and flawless and there is room to let your dog out of the car before the appointment while you wait.

She developed pancreatitis when she was 2 - 3 because we fed her wrong. After she stabilized, they worked with me to find recipes for nearly fat free meals that met her nutritional needs and kept her well. We credit her longevity to those meals with all natural food and their care of her. After Molly passed naturally, they made a donation in her name to a charity that supports getting better food to dogs.....perfect! They sent a lovely handwritten card too. We will eventually get another dog and of course, they will be her vets! Carol Rady, Bolton, CT

So I have been taking my dog to Manchester Veterinarian since November 2022 we've always taken our…read moredog for all his visits, including any health issues throughout the years. I was called by Manchester Veterinary office stating Wagyu was due for his annual visit on April 8. We moved during the past year and I try to have his flea and tick medication renewed, and they denied filling his medication for flea and tick because he was over three weeks of his annual exam.I work in the medical field. The garbage that they're trying to feed me is ridiculous and it should be known that they actually are more money motivated than they are about their patient's. Any good Doctor would fill their patient's prescription and then allow for an appointment on a later date. Doctor Gomez was asked to give me a call. She did do that, but she was saying the same thing that she was not willing to help me. that is not good. Patient care that you're willing to allow the dog to be exposed to something for no reason. Now because of the situation, I don't want to take my dog there anymore now. He will now have to wait for another appointment somewhere else, which is putting his health at risk yet again.

On a Sunday night after he experienced what appeared to be a syncopal episode, we contacted the hospital for emergency guidance. We were informed by staff that the only doctor on duty was in surgery and that there was no veterinarian immediately available to evaluate him. We were advised not to bring him in. The interaction with the receptionist was also notably lacking in empathy or urgency, which was especially distressing given the seriousness of the situation. For a facility that represents itself as a 24-hour emergency hospital, this was deeply concerning. If an urgent patient cannot be evaluated because the only doctor is unavailable, that reflects a significant gap in emergency coverage. This was not an isolated issue, as we had experienced ongoing communication and responsiveness concerns over time. After years as clients, and following my dog's passing, we did not receive any acknowledgment from the hospital. He was family. We expected urgency, compassion, and accountability. For these reasons, we have transferred our pets' care elsewhere.

Dr. Roy has been our veterinarian for over 20 years. She has been invaluable in the care of all of…read moreour beloved pets. I have observed countless positive attributes as to her approach to her work, which most definitely contributes to this field of practice. Dr. Roy has an incredible ability to treat a variety of conditions that our animals have had over the years. Some of the diverse health conditions that she has treated include poly arthritis, ACL tears, kidney failure, heart sarcoma, unusual tongue tumor (calcinosis circumscripta), IBS disease and more. She is wonderful at explaining and treating these unusual conditions while bringing a sense of calm and understanding to each medical situation. It makes all of the difference as to how she communicates with us about our animal's conditions. She truly listens and gathers information about the vast array of symptoms that our pets have. She works with us to figure out what steps to take next and provides follow-up assistance to be certain that our pets are responding well to treatments. Dr. Roy goes above and beyond in the medical care of our pets. For example, we currently have a chorkie that came to us as a puppy with several unique medical conditions. Over the course of almost 9 years, Dr. Roy has used her expertise and skill set to treat these various diseases and genetic health problems that our chorkie has in order to help her to thrive. I am certain that it is because of Dr. Roy that our chorkie is alive and well today, and for that we are so thankful! In summary, Dr. Roy helps pave the way for all of our pets to have the best health possible. She helps us find the best way to meet the needs of each of our pet's health conditions for every stage of their lives. She consistently meets the challenge of helping us care for even our most high-need pets with fragile health conditions so that they may have a good quality of life. We feel very fortunate to have Dr. Roy as our veterinarian and we are so grateful for all that she has done for our pets! Sincerely, The Francis Family

BEWARE - do not bring your pet here. My dog (6 y.o. rescue…read moremix - very healthy, luckily!) had a non-complicated ear laceration surgery at Tolland location, having come out of it with 2(!!) superbly antibiotics resistant nasty bacterias in her - Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and Staphylococcus Epidirmidis. Both are common hospital infections, and the former can live on surfaces (even dry!) for 4 years - so, be cautious! My dog had not been exposed to any other unusual environment or change in routine, except this surgery. I have two other dogs, who are constantly together and have no signs of these infections. The only uncommon thing that happened was - this surgery. If this bacteria is bread in un-/under-sanitary surgical room or hospital (with all facts present - this is the only highly likely source of infection), it's extremely difficult for them to eradicate. ...so, here we are $2k+ and counting! Here is the rest of facts: They took a week (!) to run lab/test results for Pseudomonas A., which is susceptible (conveniently) to only 1 recommended antibiotic that get administered every 4hrs. via IV, requiring hospitalization. When they realized I'm not willing to hospitalize my dog, they prescribed an antibiotic that's only intermittently effective against this bacteria, that's got an explicit warning to NOT use in dogs, as it's causing bone marrow suppression. If the above is not preposterous enough, they had just notified me, 2 WEEKS after surgery, that there was another bacteria discovered in that same sample - a staph! My dog contracted 2 nasty and extremely hard to kill bacterias as a result of the surgery. I am attaching a copy of the lab testing result here and happy to share the remainder of documented information with anyone who's still on the fence to keep, take their pet to or start brining them to Fenton River practice. I personally strongly advise against it. The risk to your pet's health IS NOT WORTH IT. My experience with them speaks to incompetence, pet ailment she didn't have before and wouldn't have otherwise that I need to continue caring for weeks, and if I had to apply simple terminology - medical negligence.

The doctors prescribed medication to help with her anxiety. Unfortunately, the medication did not work--she was still overstimulated during grooming. I called to explain this, and the dosage was increased, but that still did not help. I then thought we could try a different medication, but that never happened. The doctors suggested I try their groomer, saying she was great, so I agreed. I asked for a teddy bear cut. Don't get me wrong--Zoe did come out with a teddy bear cut. However, the groomer then told me that next time Zoe would need to be sedated. That really shocked me. Not only is sedation expensive, but I am also not comfortable putting my dog through that unless it is absolutely necessary. What I don't understand is why no one suggested a gradual approach--such as having Zoe come into the office once a week for 15-20 minutes so she could slowly get to know the groomer and build trust. Creating a bond with an anxious dog should be the priority. If the groomer was able to groom her the first time--even if it was difficult--then clearly it was possible. This makes me question whether the focus is on building trust and helping the dog, or simply on money. I am extremely disappointed with this experience. A very disappointed former customer!
