You do not recall 2-3 different totals for a neuter to give a client an estimate???? As in it's in 200's it's in 400's - so a person has SOME idea what you charge? No, these are not for your animals first it's all about filling your wallet! I brought my dog in for what I thought was a bladder infection $250 later no bladder infection and come to find out she had a hotspot just around the same spot that they were looking at, but never saw it!! I requested quotes for my dog to be spayed. They told me because she's a female and beyond puppy years that it's $1600 to spay her!! Never mind the bloodwork that they wanted to do that I had had done previously and they wanted a tremendous amount of that too. This company is more about the money than the compassion for your pets and animals and then they don't tend to listen you have to repeat yourself quite often! I don't recommend this place one single bit! Unless you plan to lose your wallet! The one the one mail veterinary either. He has a very poor demeanor too. Zero stars is more like it. I spent thousands in a short time since I been your client. I have brought multiple animals in your care. If I missed an appointment by mistake I paid for it in full. You terminate my elderly dog when he needs stability the most? Oh ok. No problem. I will get a better more experienced less corporate money hungry, hire kids straight out of vet school type place. You give every patient 30 minutes lol not even a full hour? My goodness corporate greed. This is why my neighbors stopped going to you. I promise you. There were 3 ladies that were very kind to me. The ones who thought you were doing something by terminating me bc I was "non compliant" , to which you didn't even say non compliance for what exactly. None the less. I know more about vet meds than all your docs put together. I had to tell THEM what to give my dog. Now how tf does that work? You don't know vetmedin is the best for dogs w heart failure? What a waste. Paid a 50.00 fee to schedule appt for a new pup for April 7th. I was told the appt was April 5th. Lost the 50.00 and found an amazing vet that cares about the quality of life and not the money. Is this how greed works post COVID? Went to them almost forty years and then we rescued a dog who was bleeding in her rectum . We asked them if they could take a peek at her. They said it would be over a week before they could look at her.They lost a good customer!!! They are very unprofessional. While wheeling our late dog out to our car they let our late dog roll off the stainless steel cart onto the ground!!!! Female Doctor has no personality . Need I say more? read more

So two days after I wrote my review, I was able to bring Ninja in for his fluid treatment. EVERYONE was very nice and accommodating, yes, even the one woman I mentioned before. Maybe she was just in some dire need of time off?? I did mention that there was no mention of them being closed on Christmas Eve on their website, vmail or door. They all seemed surprised but no one was apologetic. The vet tech however, did go out of her way to let me know that they would be closed this upcoming Saturday which I appreciated. Tuesday or Wednesday another vet tech called me and said that he had heard of my experience this past weekend and was calling to let me know in advance that they would be closed this upcoming Saturday. Now THAT is what I'm talking about. THAT is service, THAT is being considerate and THAT is appreciated. read more

We've called this place a few times to help my dog but money is the only object they seem to care about. If they really cared about animals and pets they would help without charge My dog is in savere pain every couple of days because of his limes and we called about medication but they only cared about the price it would take get it. We have used Winsted Hospital for all our pets for quite a number of years now and have found them all to be wonderful. We started in mid 1990s with our first German Shepherd until he passed 10 yrs later when he passed from a case of congestive heart failure that came on so fast we couldn't believe it. We had a female cat that had a case of kidney failure at about 17 1/2 yrs Then another shepherd for another 4 yrs when he was found to have cancer of the spleen. A little cat that grew up with that shepherd passed from a blood clot in his bladder. Then we had to see who would take over as all the vets that were there had retired & sold their practice. No surprise, all the vets who have come & gone are fantastic at their jobs. And our last little female poodle/golden who had kidney issues and a possible brain tumor causing her to have seizures and a type of dementia. She was famous in the clinic. Her name was Abigail (Abby) & such an angel to work with for them. We had to let her go a few months ago. We are looking for a new friend for our latest kitty & will be going there again. They were all wonderfully supportive & caring throughout. I highly recommend this practice. read more

I have been taking my dogs & cats to Winsted Hosp for Animals for over 25 years. 10 years ago, I moved an hour away but continued going there for all my pet's needs because Dr. Laczak was so wonderful & personable. Unbeknownst to me, he retired in December & no one bothered to tell me that when I made the appointment for their annual check-up! The new vet was OK but not very personable & did not know my dogs weight when asked (he had just been weighed 5 min prior). Also, I was shorted one box of Heartgard (guess they couldn't count?). Except for Sue & Judy, all the staff is new. So now, rather than drive an hour for a new vet, I will just find one locally. :( read more

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. The front desk, usually Sue, Judy and now Patty are all great! They know who you are and treat you with professionalism and respect. I have never had anyone be rude to me, ever, and I have been attending their facility for many, many years. I am sorry to read some folks had a problem with the front desk. This has NEVER been my experience. You have to understand, the office might have just been part of a harrowing accident or a euthanizing and their demeanor might not be perky and bright....but I repeat....NEVER has ANYONE been rude or demeaning to my or my family (both 2 and four legged) at all. That being cleared up, their service is top notch and they know their stuff, bringing the newest and best care to your friends on a daily basis. They work long and hard hours and strive to (and attain) the highest standards of pet care I have ever experienced. They are all great advocates for your pets, and mine really enjoy going there to see their friends, and that is high praise as many pets can't stand a trip to the vet. The doctors put out the best in recommendations for each and every scenario and understand when $$ is a determining factor in your choice of approach to your pet's health. Their prices are fair for the area but above and beyond all of these statements I need to clarify with out a doubt: Everyone is looking out for pets as well as owners, and their compassion in all areas is above and beyond any other hospital I have ever attended with a beloved pet. The doctors (all of them) are superb and I would trust the lives of my furry friends to any of them, albeit we have a special love for Dr. Mary B. We have had our dogs taken care of at Winsted Hospital for Animals since 1968, first with Dr. Church, then Dr. Kellogg, now Dr. Laczak and the other vets on staff. We recently had to euthanize a treasured old dog. As it has always been for 48 years, our dog and we were treated with great care and consideration. The hospital, the veterinarians and the staff are all lovely, caring individuals. read more

The doctors are great but the woman upfront named Sue is rude and unprofessional. I have been going to them for years and thought that woman just didn't like me. But from what I have read she is just miserable. I am really considering a new vet because of her. She actually hung up the phone on me the other day. I have complained about her years ago but nothing changed. It's too bad because the vets and techs are great. But not worth the headache I get everytime I call or come in. They need to get rid of her and hire someone with some customer service skills, or I will be finding a new vet. read more

Over the 40 yrs with this practice we have had a total of 12 cats and 5 dogs cared for by the dedicated staff. Dr Kellogg and Dr Laczak were so professional and caring with all of our furry "children". We could not have asked for more as they negotiated us through accidents and illnesses.
