From registration to post-operative processes, I was greatly impressed with the staff. The nurse that cared for me thru the process was exceptional (attentive, caring and considerate as well as social), the anesthesiologist was efficient and caring and communicating what he was doing, and Dr. DeBoo was great! After surgery they helped keep me comfortable and told me of post operative care. Overall, outstanding experience and I highly recommend both the staff as well as Dr. DeBoo and the Ohio Valley Surgical team. Thank you! Chris H.

She scheduled me for a CT scan, and RFID. Done within days. It started down hill after that, week after week not scheduled for surgery. I was told the scheduler was off and wait for a call. Another week not scheduled. I called Scheduler not there again that day and I needed a cardiac release before surgery could be scheduled. I called my heart doctor never received a request so called dr office got the request form and he got me in right away and faxed the release. Still not scheduled ... I called Dr Daniels office heart dr sent cardiac release why haven't I been scheduled for surgery? I was told scheduler is Only there thru Monday-Wed. Another week went by and scheduler not there. So I finally went to the office and complained isn't there someone else who can schedule my surgery? Well yes but they said the doctor took my file home! What? I finally got the call and surgery scheduled June 1st. Okay Then a few days later I was called surgery moved to May 28 then the night before surgery they called and moved surgery now on May 29 and finally Had the lumpectomy for breast cancer and 3 lymph nodes removed. Follow-up visit with Dr Daniels had huge swelling in armpit. Dr Daniels drained the swelling. Swelling started again same day but this weekend really swollen size of baseball and now pain my arm. Exercises hasn't helped. Worse over the weekend. Week to Dr Daniels office early today Monday morning to see if she was in. The red haired nurse yelled at me you should have called to get appointment. You can't just show up. I already have an appointment this Wednesday. I'm too uncomfortable to wait. Red haired nurse yelled you should have called on call dr. She glared at me and said if I wanted she would look at it. We walked back to the room she angrily yelled and glared at me you coming in or not? I hesitated to go in. She yelled don't just stand there ignoring me you coming in or not! I left and I'm never going back!!!! I've had many surgeries at 77 years old I've never been treated so badly with such arrogance and disdain! Her attitude was how dare you just show up. You should have called for an appointment! I have an upcoming appointment I'm too uncomfortable to wait. I went to the ER!

As a humble intern, father to a seven-year-old daughter, and aspiring medical laboratory technician in 2015, I was summarily dismissed from my internship not with the dignity of a conversation, nor the courtesy of a written warning, but via a piece of paper slyly slipped into my hand, accompanied by an enigmatic directive to call a supervisor who, with all the empathy of a malfunctioning answering machine, told me, "Leave the hospital." In that moment, my professional aspirations, financial stability, and trust in academic institutions were crushed--flattened like a hot pan in the dish pit I toiled in for years to pay for it all. Let us briefly pull back the velvet curtain and examine the star of this spectacle: the "Snow White Comment." In an industry that prides itself on clinical objectivity and evidence-based judgment, how delightful it is to discover that my facetious remark--saying Snow White was my girlfriend--was apparently interpreted as a dire indicator of mental illness. The staff's response? Not a gentle word, not a query into my well-being, not the faintest attempt at clarification. Instead, they fashioned a narrative where sarcasm morphed into psychosis, and humor was entirely forbidden--a bold new standard, no doubt, for preparing students for the real world. Keri William Richards, whose missive on my alleged "unprofessionalism" reads like the script of a melodrama. According to her, I was incorrigibly rogue, "not listening," "doing my own thing," and, most egregiously, "wasting his time and ours." This, despite not a single documented conversation, warning, or opportunity to improve--apparently, the sacred principle of feedback is reserved only for those faculty members whose professional conduct is not above reproach. Keri's definition of professionalism seems to be whispering lies behind closed doors and doing everything possible to refuse any sort of open dialogue or feedback. Let us be exceedingly clear: I was denied the fundamental right to know, to respond, and to correct. The staff, while clutching their pearls at my supposed lack of professionalism, demonstrated an Olympic-level ability to avoid direct communication and procedural transparency. In the end, they achieved only one thing: violating my rights under the Ohioans with Disabilities Act of 1969, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of perceived psychological disability, especially without due process or accommodation. It's almost as if irony itself drew up their policies. The harm was not limited to my sense of justice. It was financial--thousands of dollars in student loans for non-transferable, academically sub-par credits, all because Clark State sold me a bill of goods about their transferability. It was emotional--my trust in educators forever eroded, my self-confidence battered, my dreams of becoming a licensed MLT lost. Most cruelly, it was personal: As a father, I wanted only to build a better life for my daughter, to show her that hard work and education opened doors. Instead, I was shown the back door--quietly, furtively, without so much as a whisper of honesty. Yet, the ultimate punchline is that I did not wither. While Clark State and Springfield Regional Medical Center clung to their misconceptions, I worked--scrubbing hot pans in restaurants, burning the midnight oil, fighting for every new opportunity. I completed my bachelor's and a master's degree, and I now serve as a dual diagnostic clinician, helping those with substance use and mental health challenges. Clearly, clinical incompetency is not a malady from which I suffer. And so I say: if these institutions wish to lecture on professionalism, perhaps first consult a mirror. It is no small hypocrisy to preach patience, empathy, and growth while practicing cowardice, dishonesty, and discrimination.

The return visit I had to be Re admitted but was taken to the 2nd floor. This was awful! I can't say one positive thing about this. After 2 nights of feeling like I was in a basement ( male nurse was creepy. He also turned off lights in hallway and I wasn't able to find the call light and my room was pitch black as well). No blanket, had a sheet but no one came in my room from 10 pm till about 5;30 am. I was miserably cold, frightened and literally felt abandoned in this awful place. Staffing was not good and no one working the unit told me anything. I was told the dr might discharge me on the 4th day but was able to convince the hospitalist to let me leave that night. NEVER will I agree to staying again. Awful !

This spot could easily be renamed: "Alvera Body Wrap & Wellness Spa-aaah!"…read more Excellent firm pressure massage by Karen. Great, relaxing vibe and she's very responsive to... well, everything. You want the table a little warmer/ cooler? Got it. Want to lighten the pressure in certain areas? Sure, no problem! Curious about how 'x' pain connects to 'y' limb? You'll get an accurate, thoughtful response. Lights lower, music softer? She's on it. No stress added that I arrived a couple minutes late. She apparently had time, so she tacked those couple minutes on to the end and I got as many minutes as I actually paid for - that's always super appreciated! It would be nice if the room was a little more soundproofed or located further back in the building away from the road; I could hear lunch hour traffic rushing by on the street about 20 yd away. But other than that, this was a great massage, and I've had plenty over the decades. A lot of therapists these days slop through the motions, but Karen really has a pinpoint, accurate understanding of the human body and I give her full props for 90 minutes of targeted, firm pressure body work. Me having slightly arthritic hands, I greatly appreciate her stamina! I left the appointment, amazed with an amount of flexibility in my neck and shoulders I haven't felt in probably 10 years. My 82 yo mom loves it here, too. There's a plethora of skilled service providers and lots of face, body, general wellness treatments to choose from.
