I've taken my truck there 2 times for routine service (oil change and tire rotation). The first time was a disaster: truck not ready when promised - TWO DAYS IN A ROW. They never checked on my reported issues with the infotainment system, and importantly, the brakes. And they overlooked the need for a new state inspection. The second time, when I walked in to drop my truck, Kim told me it was going to cost $210 for the oil change (maybe more - I nearly went ballistic). I left the dealership and will NEVER go back. Everytime i take my car in for service i am lied to by the service department. My last visit they couldnt figure out why my car keeps telling me to service my safety systems. Now i have an issue with my fan coming on after i turn my car off and my driver assist continues to shut off. This is with a heavy heart, that I write this review for My Buick 2017 Encore with 67000 miles. I took my vehicle to get a state inspection from this dealership 18SEP25 and also to report a rattling noise. The dealership called and said the vehicle was ready for pickup. I arrived at the dealership via Lyft because they did not have any loaner vehicles to get me to work. The inspection sticker was not on the vehicle and had to be placed on before closing, when I drove off the lot the rattle was still there. I took the vehicle back 20OCT25 and was charged $2516.37, thank God for the extended warranty! Got the vehicle back. The rattle was STILL there. Gave the vehicle back to them and was charged $3763.11. Finally the rattle is gone. Went for an oil change 26FEB26 and now they state I need to have an Oil cooler assembly replaced for $2317.98. I have an extended warranty but was denied because it looks like from photos, this leak has been there. With the denial the dealership did not offer any type of assistance or financing option to me as a customer or a veteran. I have had over 25 requests via text and email from Buick to purchase my vehicle. For me it is not the vehicle it is the dealership and the attention to detail of their work. I believe if they were not rushing and took care with their servicing all of these issues would have been caught. I would not have to visit this dealership as often. I brought my new diesel truck to Southern GMC for a warranty issue. The truck was in limp mode and would not go over 15mph. Their service Dept. claims my new diesel truck had contaminated fuel from a local fueling station. Luckily I keep my receipts. I had the sample they provided tested and by a third party and the results were negative for contamination. I don't know who to believe, but I do know I'm out $5000.00. The fueling station denies the claim, Southern GMC is sticking to their findings, but they can not provide any documentation of the contaminated fuel outside of the fuel sample they provided and they do not care about the third parties findings. I took my truck here to get my sway bar shocks and a new starter on oct 31st and showed up the next day to talk to them about the problems and all of the parts that we needed to get. I spent 2 weeks trying to get a hold of the dealership and when I did they said they didn't order the parts until the 11th of November. they gave me a service advisor that was out of town for the first two weeks. so they basically just wasted about 2 weeks of my time then took another week to actually fix the truck. they were horrible about communication and seemed to never actually give me a straight answer about anything. To start it had to go in for a warranty part issue and after his truck has been sitting for over 37 days waiting to be repaired it finally gets done. To then begin leaking oil like a faucet the day he gets it back. Welp back to the shop it goes. Another week goes by to be complete and picks it up to and it's "fixed" now....nope back to the shop for a third time and the story will continue on this 2019 GMC Truck. I've been trying multiple times under warranty to get my truck repaired with no luck had to take it to a Chevrolet dealer where they repaired it under warranty no questions asked explaining to me that this was covered it should've been covered by Southern. The Chevrolet dealer believes that Southern just doesn't want to cover because I don't make as much money under warranty as when they try to soak the customers they say they give 100% guarantees but that's an out right lie. BUYER BEWARE -- they have many additional charges on used cars not listed anywhere until you sit down to "talk numbers". Additionally, these guys are charging buyers for the manufacture certification on used vehicles! I test drove a truck that has been sitting on Southerns lot for over 7months. Liked the truck. It was listed for $43500. I looked on CarGurus and saw that the truck had once been priced as low as $42500. So I offered $43000 OTD and told the sales guy that I knew the truck had been sitting on the lot for months and at one point listed for $42.5k. He was very quickly asked me how I knew that, #theinternet. We went in to "talk numbers." After 20mins of waiting, he came back with an OTD number of $52000. "Told me not to worry though and this was just the starting point." I told him I already gave him my end point number and this was a waste of time. I asked how a listed 43.5k dollar truck ends up 52k OTD. He proceeded to tell me -- tax, title, fees, and extras. Curious: "extras" included paying for the GMC certification (problem 1), dealer extended warranty (standard), Lo Jack (problem 2), vin etching (problem 3), and interior/exterior protection (problem 4). Nearly $7000 in extra fees. I told the sales guy that the truck was listed as GMC certified on Southerns website and wondered why I would be charged for the certification of the vehicle. He said it was standard practice (though I have bought numerous used vehicles and never had to pay a dealership for a manufacture's certification). WEIRD AND SEEMS WRONG!! I told him their website was very misleading if they are going to say that the GMC certified icon on the vehicle's page only means the vehicle is "eligible for certification at the buyers expense" though that fee for certification is not listed in the fine print on the website. He agreed. I also told the sales guys that I wasn't paying for Lo Jack, Vin Etching, and protective coatings on a USED truck. He said they were already added to the truck and couldn't be remove. Though he said he would talk to he manager. ((The writing on the wall was clear though...they were adding thousands of dollars in additional costs on the used truck...all to make up from overpaying for the truck in July of 2022.)) The sales manager came out with an offer of 49k OTD (still with $4k of random "extras" -- whether the certification, dealer extended warranty, Lo Jack, Vin Etching, or protective coats... I was told in the finance dept that the warranty I bought covered everything but the heated seats, not true. I have tried calling to talk to them and no one will return my calls. If they are going to sell a warranty they need to know details of what they are selling and don't advertise that it covers everything if it in fact doesn't. Horrible Service department!! My husband took his 2019 GMC Sierra in 5 weeks ago with a scheduled appointment for transmission issues. For 3 weeks he was given the run around about losing technicians and personnel and always promising that it would be look at and diagnosed "in the next few days". It was not. It took 5 weeks to tell my husband that he needed a new transmission. They charged him $4000 up front then told him it may be a month but it may be as long as 6 months to get a new transmission. This is a 4.5 year old truck. It should not need a new transmission. It is meticulously kept. If they determine that they can't get a transmission in at some point they will refund the money. But that may be 1 month or 6 months. No truck to drive for at least 8 weeks (my husband runs a small construction business) so we are paying for a rental and we are making payments on the vehicle. I have had extremely poor and dishonest service in the service department multiple times I have 2 GMC vehicles serviced here, but no more. Came in for a break ECM module reprogram 2 days later untouched, told waiting for a part because it needed an extra pump. Oh, but I was told I needed new oil hoses for $836 they could do. (For a 3 year old truck). 2 days later retrieved the vehicle, nothing done, took to Biggs in Elizabeth City for second opinion. No hose problems, no part is needed for recall ECM reprogram. 45 minuets later I was out and truck was perfect. Prepare for dishonesty and up charges. Not only did they loose my business, (and a new car purchase the next week), but pursuing placing them on the military "off limits" list of businesses. I just recently took my 2008 GMC Sierra to Southern Buick GMC because the AC had went out on it. So after they diagnosed the vehicle they quoted me a price of $2,000 and that was only to replace the accumulator another part that's in the dashboard. 19 days later after I got my truck back from them the AC stopped working again. So when I called them and took it back they told me that my AC compressor and clutch had broken and they charge me an additional $1,700 for that which I did not understand because that was all part of the AC system but according to them all of the codes did not pop up during the first diagnosis which was not my fault but I was charged for it anyway. 14 days later after I got my truck back for the second time. My air conditioning stopped working again and it was reading in my dashboard that the engine was running hot. So then they told me that something about I had a leak in my heater lines which had nothing to do with the AC but they were going to work with me on the labor instead of correcting the problem at no cost since the service that I received was still under warranty. I've already paid $3,700 for the same issue and again every time I got my vehicle from them it did not last 30 days before I had to take it back. I'm writing a letter to GMC headquarters to let them know that I am not satisfied with the service that I received and that I've paid $3,700 and my AC still not working properly but yet they still want to continuously charge me for the same problem. Went in line and fill up a form but they never informed me. They called me later that day that it need to change the condenser. But I don't get updated status that day. My car only has 23000 miles now, but i think it's safe to say this place is aiite if you enter it close-minded. Get your service and just say "no" to recommendations. Review on Buying: I haggled and bought a used car. It came with the southern hospitality service (not plus). If you are buying, just remember to ignore the advertising lady who talks about that car care protection crap such as environmental damage, just keep rejecting. She'll come back with a "manager's special" that's 20% of the original price (lol!). I mean all car places will try to rip you off, so i can't really punish them for it. That lady was quite obvious, you can't miss it! ;) Review on Services: With the southern hospitality program, i get free state inspections, free oil changes, 24-hour roadside assistance and some other hyped up crap. The staff really stands out, but that doesn't save the slow service. 1) Oil change 7500. Made an appointment, waited 15min for the service, paid and get out. I asked them to lube my locks since that was part of my maintenance, but they said they would have to charge me. I also had to get my tires rotated but it cost me $25. It might be easier to just use a coupon at jiffy lube/firestone and get all 3 and more done for $20. 2) State inspection. I walked in (no appointment) at 4:00pm and had it done in 20min! amazing. 3) Tire leak. My tire was leaking air, so i got it checked out...for free! =D Water dunk. 4) Oil change 15000 made an appointment, but this time it didn't go so well. They didn't have my car's oil filter, so it took an hour and half. They recommended a rotation and this time, they said $40! I also overheard some crazy price a lady had to pay for diagnosis of a lock. Things start getting scary now.... 5) Oil change 22500 made an appointment, and again they took their sweet time (~2 hours). What happened to the quick initial services I was getting? =( 6) Oil change and state inspection 30000. Another 2 hours wasted. I was talking to verizon's customer service the entire time. I'm not sure who's worse. 7) Oil change at 37500. Another 2 hours, as expected. At the end, they told me to expect 2 hours. I still don't understand the point of an appointment if it takes 2 hours. To sum up: If you are buying, do your homework and you'll survive. If you're getting serviced, expect two hours, or drop your car off. The service shop for GMC located here is NOT capable of even diagnosing the issues on the cars the sell i have brought my vehicle here 2 times within the past 4 weeks and assured it was just the battery the first time and just some corrosion the second. The first time I picked my vehicle up it last 4 days before the brand new battery was completely dead leaving me stuck in a extremely dangerous intersection. They towed it back only to "fix" it again and it broke down AGAIN 2 days later. The second time and first time I picked it up their technician threw everything out of my glove box and never put it back.. same as the second time except this time they left their own trash in my car. I dont eat ho-his so your told on yourself. Also, second time I picked it up they didn't not reattach the fuse cover and whatever this plug is. I have no idea. Avoid this place at all cost. Not only am I putting in a complaint with their headquarters, but also the BBB. read more

I have been a loyal customer with Southern GMC with my 2016 Yukon Denali. There service department is the worst I have ever experienced. They force you to make an appointment to drop off then do not even give the courtesy to call you if they cannot get to your vehicle in the same day. I dropped my Yukon at 810 in the morning never received a phone call that they would not be able to get to it for a normal routine service the same day. I called that day at 445pm and all the service employees were gone for the day. Did not find out until the next morning at 8am that no one even looked at my vehicle. I had to consistently call to get any type of update and every time I was told I don't know. When I finally picked up my truck at 5pm the following day they returned my truck to me filthy. The drivers side covered in greasy finger prints. Documents from my glove compartment thrown all over the truck and oily foot prints on my tan floor mats. I purchased a car from them about 30 days ago and it was the worst experience that I have ever had buying a car. I know car dealers/sellers lie but they have to be the worst! I have been waiting almost a month for a refund of my overpayment (bank wrote wrong amount for vehicle) and my 2nd key that was promised (and yes I have paperwork stating they owe me a key). And don't let me get started about the so called "detail cleaning" they were supposed to do...it was a run through the car wash and a quick vacuum. Guess it was too much to get the Starburst candy from under the seat from previous owner. (Please note this was after taking the car to them the 2nd time for the so called detail).
