Jerk chicken, peas and rice and cabbage

I've heard so many good things about this restaurant..we'll, I was in the area and decided to try it. When I walked in it was so inviting, the cashier was very friendly. I ordered the jerk chicken, peas and rice and cabbage. It was very good and flavorful. I noticed on the menu that they have jerk chicken nachos...I can't wait to go back to try those. If you're ever in the area please stop and try them out.

I love the jerk chicken pasta from here. It's flavorful, spicy without being overwhelming and made fresh to order. If you're in a hurry, try back when you're not because most items are cooked to order and there's a wait. There's not a lot of seating (if any) inside, so be prepared to take your food to go. My mouth is watering just thinking of eating here again. Yum

First time visiting. Good service. Food served fast and hot. I tried the curry goat and jerk pasta, both flavorful and seasoned well. I will return.

My husband and I love Jamaican food. We recently discovered Southern Caribbean and since then we have visited 4 times over the last month. The food has been delicious every time. I've tried the jerk chicken and curry chicken. The cabbage is really good. Whenever we have been anywhere near the area we stop.

Delicious authentic Jamaican food! Large portions and reasonable prices! I had both the chicken and the oxtail here before and it's was all great! Would recommend a try!

Been coming here off & on for years! They've moved from the Bessemer super highway location but I found them on Lomb Ave same delicious food you have to be patient tho because they only have two workers most times but the food is definitely worth the wait I recommend the oxtails rice & peas cabbage and cocoa bread

Cayo Coco has been on my list of restaurants to try for a few months now, and I can confidently say…read morethat I'll be back soon! I genuinely could have ordered almost anything off the menu; everything sounded delicious. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget or the ability to consume every dish off the menu, so my boyfriend and I settled on splitting 2 small plates and 1 entree. What we ordered: -Smoked Fish Fritters: a Cuban delicacy. Still thinking about how good these were. Plenty to share! -Snapper Ceviche: personally not my thing, but my boyfriend loved this. I honestly wanted to like this, but the raw fish started to weird me out. -Jerk Chicken: served atop a tomato/bbq risotto that was devine. The inside here is so cozy and slightly tropical. They have a huge alcoholic selection too if that's your vibe. I'm so excited to return and try some more dishes!

Cayo Coco restaurant missed the mark for me. I really enjoyed how the dining areas really lean into…read morethe tropical theme. I ordered the Espresso Martini ($14); it was lacking something in the flavor, but that could possibly be from me going against the grain when ordering. I had the jerk chicken, it was not a true jerk chicken ($29) it was basically grilled chicken with sauce so when expecting something more authentic it was disappointing to say the least. The tamarind caesar ($15) was also different than I expected; although I would make a trip for it, I would order it again when visiting. The best thing I tried was actually the typhoon brusssel sprouts ($12), I was very happy with them and honestly would have been okay if that was the only thing I ordered. The wait staff was great, very personable and being willing to dicuss the menu and give suggestions. Espresso Martini(Vodka-Carajillo) 7/10 flavor is not what accustomed to might have been better with the Rum normally fixed with. Tamarind Caesar- at first glance definitely not my regular Caesar. Definitely not an average Caesar the lettuce is grilled giving it a smoky flavor, caught off guard but I would order again. 8/10 Jerk Chicken- overall was a good dish first time trying farro wasn't sure what to expect made me think of oatmeal, the mango salsa and sauce on the chicken was good the chicken itself was a bit dry but still good. Overall I would give the dish a 7.5 I rarely order chicken out and I think this was a reminder why. Typhoon Brussel Sprouts- had great taste 9/10 I could come back and get a drink with the Brussels. Would consider the Star of the night The price was consistent with the area, nothing seemed overly priced. Portions were also large enough to be split so if with a group and wanting to try multiple items you would be able to do it and have enough.

The seating is limited, maybe 12 tables then you have the bar area. It is giving much new business but customer service and management training needs to be taught before operating a business. First, let me say I think the employees would have a better and easier flow of working if management would be of help and not dictate. The owners/management pulled the waitresses in every direction instead of taking orders. This made it very overwhelming for my waitress which she stated, "I don't know how much I can take of this." While taking our order, my sister asked for samosas they waiter replied they were out. We continued to order our food. The party of 2 beside us was there before us and said they had been waiting over 30 mins. We still took a chance. We sat for over 45 mins and still no signs of food. We paid for our drinks and decided to leave. We were really looking forward to it, being that we drove 3 hours to visit but we're disappointed in the long run.

The whole vibe was one of Caribbean. I could definitely see this being a family spot during the day and a dance spot at night. I would go back.

O' Taste & See Update: Heavy Plates Still Delivering…read more I previously called this the "Home of the Heavy Plates," and after another visit, that title still fits. This time we came back because O' Taste & See now has a dining area and we wanted to eat inside. One surprise was that they were open today because they are usually closed on Saturdays. This happened to be the Saturday before Memorial Day weekend. Walking in, it was immediately obvious they were busy. There was a steady flow of carryout and DoorDash orders moving through, and several people were waiting. One suggestion that would help future customers is clearer communication on where the ordering line begins. Customers waiting for food and customers ordering blended together a little. A simple standing sign would probably help. Despite the crowd, from placing our order until checkout took about 17 minutes, which was efficient considering the traffic they were handling. I ordered the ribs with potato salad and baked beans. The ribs were smoked well with good tenderness and a sauce that had the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the meat. The potato salad needed a little salt and pepper for my taste, but after that it landed much better. The homemade baked beans had good flavor. My wife ordered the oxtails with collard greens and mac and cheese. The oxtails were tender and had a unique seasoning profile that she described as having an almost Indian-like flavor profile. The mac and cheese was creamy and good, and the greens paired well with the cornbread. My wife even mixed the greens and cornbread together. The Country Punch was good and refreshing with the meal. My wife originally wanted the red velvet cake without nuts, but they were sold out. I stepped in and handled dessert responsibilities myself . One observation my wife made was interesting. The dining area gives off more of a fine dining vibe than expected for a soul food spot. The space feels more elevated and polished. However, we were still served in to-go containers and our punch came out in a half-gallon style container. The atmosphere and presentation felt a little disconnected. Not necessarily bad, just somewhat inconsistent. The food says one thing and the dining presentation says another. One thing worth mentioning is value. Two meat-and-three plates, two drinks, and one dessert came to $73.79. That definitely puts O' Taste & See toward the higher end of soul food pricing. However, the portions are heavy, the meats are quality, and the homemade sides help justify much of that price. Not necessarily an everyday stop for many families, but the food quality delivered. Food was on point.
