So we ended up at this restaurant on a day that our only agenda was a peaceful Sunday drive and to hit some quaint places. This establishment appear to fit the bill and I have to say they did not disappoint. A little misleading at first, as it appeared to be just another fast food joint near a shopping area. Due to some positive reviews that we read, we decided to give it a shot. It's a walk up to the counter and order situation, but the food has a higher quality than what you would expect from such a place. We all enjoyed burgers and chicken sandwiches. They were seasoned well and juicy. After eating my entrée, I was rather stuffed so I did not get to try what appeared to be some pretty tasty desserts and since I was driving and still had a piece to go, I didn't try any daiquiris so on that, I can't comment. That being said, there were quite a few people who were partaking of those menu offerings and appeared to be enjoying them. It was a clean establishment with a nice decor. There were a lot of vintage, antique items, as well as some art that was indicative of the area. When I find myself in that area again, I will definitely pay another visit. read more

I ordered a pecan spinach salad with chicken to go. They were super busy so I had to wait a minute before I got to pick up my order. Service was fine. I am hard of hearing and I had a hard time hearing the person helping me, but she wasn't rude. The inside is cute--country, rustic and a little bit of glamour with the chandeliers. As for my salad--it was good. It did not wow me. I am more than sure the chicken is good but I was trining to eat healthier. The salad was fresh and had good flavor. I believe it was the chicken that had a little kick (spice) to it. I don't usually tolerate too much spice too well, and it wasn't too much but just a little kick of heat at the end. Although the dressing was good, it was Newman's Own, and I would have preferred homemade dressing. It seems that fried chicken and daiquiris are the featured items, so I'll have to try that another time. I would go back to try something other than a salad next time. Best fried chicken!!! Juicy; crunchy crust wasn't greasy or too thick; a little spicy but not too much. The spice is on the meat, not in the crust, which we liked. We didn't expect it to be spicy but it was so well cooked it didn't matter. And it wasn't overpowering. People were friendly and service was quick (to-go order). Was looking forward to lunch at a local competitor but they were closed for remodeling. Great news, YELPERS to the rescue! Lunch specials! Quick and clean! Both entrees were delicious, albeit a little proud of the onion rings (but they were good and fresh). Fried chicken is the main attraction. Not as spicy or crunchy as I prefer but good nonetheless. Love the food. It's quite tasty. The jacked up chicken sandwich is a thing of beauty. But we ordered at 5:52, and we were the only party here except for a gentleman waiting on his to go order. The drive thru line only had a couple of cars in it, not their usual around the building line. It is now 6:23, and when I asked about our order, I was told they were making two of the things we ordered. What, just now? We've seen two other parties come in after us, order, and get their food. And we are still waiting. Over half an hour. I know chicken tenders take time, but this is ridiculous. 6:25. They just called our number. And if they were making my shrimp when I inquired at 6:23, they must have stuck them under an air vent, because they sure aren't hot or even close to it. I get it. These are unusual times. Lots of places are short staffed. But this taking so long, and then my food being lukewarm at best while other items were piping hot, seems like our order was forgotten. Things happen. But if they do, I'd rather know that. A simple, "I'm so sorry, your order was overlooked, we'll get it right out" goes a long way. Also, the extended wait meant we had more time to listen to a playlist that wasn't exactly family friendly. I don't have to like the music, but I'd hope a restaurant that caters to families would keep the playlist PG. read more

4/10/21: I'm confused by the positive reviews here. That was NOT our experience. We try to walk-in but we are told to use the drive-thru so we do. We are then told to pull our car up so they bring out our order after cooking. No dark meat available either. After several minutes of waiting, we get out the car and approach the restaurant again. Employee states "oh there you are! We've been looking for you." BS! We followed your directions then we were ignored. Unacceptable. I was able to go inside next door to the boudin shop and be quickly served and greeted by a friendly employee but not here at Southern Chicks. Oh and you need to open on Sundays too. read more

I just needed a couple desserts in a hurry so I got their Mississippi Mud Pie and Caramel cheesecake. The MMP portion was huge and delicious. The cheesecake wasn't large, but it was creamy & delicious. If I lived nearby, I'd go back on a regular basis! I went through drive thru. The server at the window was very nice. We stoped here for our first time. They serve fried chicken with similar sides that chicken places serve. The chicken has some hear in the seasoning. Properly cooked and well seasoned. I had the dirty rice for my side and a bisquit. I enjoyed the meal and would stop by again. read more

The place is clean and they also have really clean bathrooms or at least when we went today. They have fountain drinks and iced tea you fix it yourself but I like it that way easier and faster to get a drink refill. Now about the fried chicken between us both we had a 3 piece dark and a 3 piece white and it was good but not any better than Popeyes or Church's. The side dishes were just mediocre, the mashed potatoes were instant, fry's were frozen, rice dressing needed some red pepper flakes or something it was bland .The roll was just a roll the biscuit was good but not any better than Popeyes. We got a order of chicken cracklins but they didn't have any spice they were mild enough for a baby to suck on em. We also ordered an order of onion rings which were homemade but upon tasting them I was wishing they were frozen because they SUCKED BIG TIME !! Slow as all get out... but well worth the wait. Food is delicious, service is kind, but don't go there if you are in a rush. Been here several times - this was the first "to go" experience... I would recommend them for sit down eat in rather than To go. I recommend them all the time to people who are in town for business and looking for a "good place for lunch". Never had bad food from here. Portions are HUGE. I personally have had the BLT grilled chicken wrap, Grilled Chicken wrap and he Jalepeno chicken wrap. All were delicious. I will definitely ask for the BLT wrap to not be heated next time though... My son had a burger tonight and said it was really good. Hubs had a Chicken Pecan Mandarin Salad. He said the chickens was over cooked, but the flavor was good. Rumor has it the fried chicken here is amazing... but our family has not tried that yet. read more

Place is clean, staff is friendly. I had the jalapeño chicken wrap and a strawberry daiquiri. The portion on the wrap was big, had to bring 1/2 home for later. This place is amazing!! It's like going to your favorite Aunts house that cooks great. The fried Okra is like a happy song in your mouth and tummy. Their fried chicken is so good that you won't have to ever fry chicken again or learn how for that matter. They have a sandwich called The jacked up chicken sandwich that my daughter says is to die for and she is a really picky eater. I gave them 5 stars cause their food is fresh, amazingly well flavored, & their customer service is unlike most cause they are nice, respectful, & very helpful. *this is not fast food quick I believe it's cause it is fresh fried and not just reheated. read more

This is a cute, clean, well-run place with friendly team members. The menu is pretty large, but the chicken and the desserts are what they do really well. The other items I've tried have been hit or miss. For example, I ordered a chicken salad wrap expecting a cool, refreshing deli wrap with crisp lettuce and tomatoes. But they put it on the grill press, slathered it in butter, and served it hot. This was chicken salad...and warm chicken salad is just NOT appetizing at all. Otherwise, prices are good, they have a drive-thru, and you can get a great deal on chicken tenders in bulk if you need to feed a house full of people. Great place! read more
