The chicken was super juicy with a little kick of spice, crispy on the outside and cooked perfectly inside. The biscuit was bigger than your average biscuit--soft, buttery, and really good. Today just wasn't Mama's Fried Chicken's day for me. I was expecting more based on all the great things I've heard, but the chicken was a little underseasoned. The corn nuggets were definitely the highlight; they were really good. My Coke was a little flat, and the fried Oreos were disappointing. They honestly tasted like I was biting into paper, so they weren't worth the money. Everyone has an off day. I'm not writing them off, and I'll definitely give them another chance. Recently, though, I've been getting the fish or shrimp po boys, which are an excellent buy (everything here is reasonable priced, so you can feed the family at Mama's affordably) and delicious--they are a bit smaller than what you'd get at most cajun restaurants, but they cost a bit less. We were passing through headed to Texas for the holidays. We saw this little gem and decided to stop and grab a bite. I'm glad we did. The staff was nice, prompt and very friendly. They were getting the orders in and out; so the wait was very short. The food smelled great. The place was well lit and very noticeable from the road. The restaurant was clean and neatly decorated. The restroom was clean as well. Baby let me tell you that chicken was hot, fresh and seasoned to perfection with their mama seasoning and it was good!!!!! Yet, on today I obviously stopped in on the wrong day or the wrong time, as the young man on the register was very rude, his demeanor, his unprofessionalism shined without saying a word. If you have an issue with certain guests, you obviously should not be a cashier serving the public!! Maybe it was my accent that rubbed him the wrong way, or my sunglasses! After stopping for gas, the attendant confirmed that this restaurant was delicious, so we decided to pop in and have a piece or two. Since we weren't super hungry, we ordered spicy chicken with some rice, one order without any sides, and my mom ordered the sandwich. While the pieces themselves were delicious, the sandwich's chicken pieces were poorly added....especially since one had bones while the other did not. The place was old and looked to have been around for years and busy. Don't let the area and building stop you, the food is the perfect. The chicken is what southern chicken is suppose to taste like.
