After waiting for 8 years my wife and I finally decided to finish our basement. We had been planning and saving for some time. As the project was nearing completion I decided to start shopping for audio visual equipment. I stopped in to see Southern Cinema located in downtown Cumming Georgia. I had driven by the business for years and decided to see what they could. I met Don the owner and we quickly began discussing what i was looking for in my system. Don then proceeded to come to our house to take a look at the space, take measurements in order to finalize his recommendations. I thought I new a lot about stereos and systems, but so much had changed. The industry has evolved light years in the past decade since I had last bought any equipment. Don and his team gave us 3 package options to review. The first was shall we say the bargain package, the second was mid level package and then the third was the all out, super fancy, leaving nothing out package. Don then took the time to explain the differences in each package and we listened to examples of what the differences would be in terms of sound and functionality. We made our decision to go with the top of the line system. Once we decided what we wanted the installation began shortly there after. Don coordinated with our contractors to come in and do the pre-wiring and then later the final installation. Once complete Don and his team kept coming back to adjust and train us on how to use the system. I will tell you that these new systems can be complicated and one of the biggest challenges is the user getting familiar with how to use everything. There was a learning curve but Southern Cinema really did support us. We had access to phone support, online support for system maintenance and face to face support. Additionally, we did have a component or two that were not working properly and Southern Cinema stood behind the product and made a no questions asked exchange. We also found as we had the system that we asked to have it do things that we really didn't need it to do. So the Southern Cinema team came out again to optimize and reconfigure the system to meet our changing needs. We have continued to work with them over the last few years. The bottom line is no process is perfect but I enjoyed and have enjoyed my business relationship with this company and it's employees. They have stood by their work and my wife and I are happy. When my wife and I closed on our new house, I decided to build out the theater in the basement and bring it up to my standard. The previous owner had done a decent job, but it wasn't to my liking. I've done low-voltage and AV work for decades, and had a pretty good idea of what I wanted. At the last moment, I decided to get a professional opinion on the build, and stopped by Southern Cinema to seek their advice. Colin came out to review the space and build a quote for me. Colin is extremely knowledgeable about all things related to home theater, and walked me through his ideas for the space. He listened to what I had to say, and worked my requirements into the plan. More importantly, he was tactful enough to be able to tell me when I didn't want to do something - the mark of a true pro. The theater was installed on time, under budget, and exactly as requested. Don worked with us on the financial aspects, and Colin did everything he was able to do to reuse materials where appropriate. We're still in "phase one" of the theater build out, because our family enjoys the room so much we don't make time to move on to phase 2! Do not use this company for any service. This company installed a home theater for us and up sold us on using Control 4 remotes. All was fine then one day the system would not work and the Control 4 remotes no longer functioned. I have called the office numerous times, but phone calls and call backs have been non-existent. The owner asked us to take down a review once before when they refused to come and service our system by promising, if we called the office they would send out a service tech. We took the review down only to have an empty promise go unfulfilled. We now are paying significant money to another home theater company to redo what southern cinema should have done weeks ago.
