    Dining area w bar

Food: not great but tasty and fairly inexpensive. Service: the servers were great every time that we visited. I'm not a fan of their management at all. I coordinate a group of friends that are not easy to organize. Granted it's a group that is supposed to be disorganized and arrive when you want but between 6-7:30 pm. Most times it's been easy to get a table in the back but lately they want the entire group there before we can be seated. I explain that some may arrive late and only want to drink but mgr persists to wait and I have to tell them that we'll meet somewhere else. Ambiance: perfect but I really wish that they had a bar and that they had liquor. I can bring my own liquor but a bar like the owners other restaurant would be really great.

Grilled shrimp with garlic butter, Cajun rice, & broccoli.

My husband works in the area and we decided to meet up for lunch. He's tried a couple of different places in Statesboro but hasn't been impressed. That is until we tried The Saucy Shrimp. The waitress was prompt and polite and we were seated quickly. I ordered the grilled shrimp with garlic butter. The portion was quite generous with 4 skewers (16 shrimp) , a large side of Cajun rice and a large side of broccoli. The shrimp was COOKED perfect and incredibly flavorful. My husband ordered his shrimp blackened and said it was also good. He also ordered a side of hushpuppies which we thought were pretty epic. It came with a side of honey butter which we felt they didn't need. The puppies are sweeter rather than the more savory, drier kind so be aware if that's not your preference. I'm sure we will be repeat customers! I only took one picture because we'd already started digging in. Oops.

First time here after the name change, we where here on a Wednesday around 1:20 in the afternoon. The place was not very busy and only a few customers. Chris was our waiter, he was very nice and polite. Although he was slow, he would get back to you. I ordered a 16oz Beer that was cold. (If I had know it was $5.00 for it I would have passed.) I ordered Fried Fish and Shrimp with fries Basket $16.00 . The order came out very fast, but I had to send the fish back as they was not completely cooked. The Shrimp was fine but on the small side, I only about 8 with 4 Pieces of Fish. Over all I don't feel the place is any better than before, and I will look around before we return..

Oyster and shrimp platter with coleslaw

Well this place was along a route headed out of Savannah GA headed back to Alabama. I definitely wanted seafood so the stop was made. This joint wasn't busy at all. They only carry wine/beer, no cocktails. We tried the shrimp, oysters, a poboy, calamari and a seafood boil. Now the fried shrimp were amazing and if ever I walked through those doors again that would be the only thing I order. The seafood boil was pretty flavorless (we ordered medium heat with garlic seasoning) and the oysters I just returned. I couldn't eat them. They were little maybe previously frozen nightmares. The calamari were huge like onion rings and I didn't really understand them. Maybe they are frozen? They were chewy and not really delicate like a fresh calamari. If I lived in this little town I'd go for the shrimp. Fried. And coleslaw. The end.

After receiving my oyster dinner, I was asked if everything looked OK? Upon my "no," the waitress said thank you and walked off. Obviously I requested to see the manager and promptly asked for a refund. As long as they're serving diet oysters in small portions, I will not be coming back!

While we found almost everything delicious, I felt the Pasta Jambalaya was just okay, not bad, but it didn't quite reach the high standard of the other dishes. During our visit, we ordered: - Fried Chicken Benedict (poached eggs, buttermilk-soaked chicken tenders, English muffin, black pepper bacon hollandaise) - Cheryl's Fried Green Tomatoes (golden fried and remoulade) - Pasta Jambalaya (shrimp, chicken, andouille sausage, linguini and creole sauce - Shrimp and Grits (shrimp and savory Cajun sauce served over Parmesan grits) - Parmesan Garlic Grits ( These were so delicious I could have enjoyed them as a standalone dish) - Bacon - Beignets (French Style Doughnuts with Praline Sauce) these were some of the best beignets I have tasted)

The Barbecue Shrimp came in a spicy sauce loaded with flavor. It came with a piece of bread that was perfect for dipping into the sauce to sop it up. There were a good number of shrimp in the serving. The Crab Cake Sandwich was good. It was not as full of lump crab meat as other crab cakes that we've had elsewhere. The Catfish Fingers were large pieces of catfish that were lightly fried. The Shrimp Poboy was satisfying. The Parmesan Garlic Grits were disappointing. There was no hint of garlic or parmesan flavor. Our server tried to rectify the situation by adding cheddar cheese to it. Fortunately, the Beignets were as good as we expected. Huey's is the only place outside of New Orleans where we have found authentic New Orleans beignets. Our server Jenelle was very friendly. At some point, something frazzled her because she seemed flustered and rattled by the time we were ready to leave. We had asked her for silverware for our beignets. It took her so long that my partner got up to get some from another table themselves because we were tired of waiting. When I asked for the check, she gave me the wrong check. She went in the back to fix it and had my debit card. She came back without the card to ask me for my zip code to finish the transaction. We asked her to bring the POS terminal to our table so that we could finish the payment.

They really help with making decisions and even offer samples if you're indecisive(like me). They wear masks when packaging food and have an outdoor seating area. Both times I got my food to go, and was in and out pretty quickly. The homemade tropical punch is so good! If ordering a "made to order" menu item, expect to wait about 15 minutes. The curry shrimp is one of those items and I was not disappointed. My friend also got curry goat and the pork chop and both were SO GOOD! As always, I do wish they have more meat, but this is something I'm used to from Caribbean restaurants. BUT- they have all things on the menu when I went in, something that doesn't always happen at the Caribbean joints I'm used to. We had the frog legs, duck frites, a wild boar ribeye special, and the swordfish boat catch of the day. My wife actually said the wild boar was the best steak she has ever had, which shocked me because we have eaten some very good steaks over the years. They also brought us a complimentary bowl of turtle soup, which was something I never expected to try, and it was fantastic. What really separates Alligator Soul, though, is the entire experience. From the small welcome bite at the beginning of the meal to the little treat at the end, the staff makes you feel taken care of from start to finish. The hospitality, atmosphere, and attention to detail are exceptional. My wife is gluten-free, and the number of options available to her was also incredibly impressive. She never felt like she had to settle or miss out on the experience. For years, The Grey was probably our favorite place to go for a special dinner in Savannah.
