One of the best places in GA to eat at! Every time I go, the staff is always super friendly, talkative, and overall great. Every time I go in with my boyfriend, they know our order by heart. The food is always so good, with my favorite being the massaman curry and basil fried rice. The drinks are bomb too! The place is decorated very beautifully, I highly recommend taking some inspiration from the wall decor. I went to GSU for 4 years for my undergrad, and the last two have been spent there. If I had known about it sooner, I would've been there. Anytime someone asks where they should eat dinner that night, I always recommend Coconut Thai. They have added karaoke nights as well as college nights too! Overall, this place holds a special place in my heart, and I miss it a lot already. Everything about this place is a 10/10. Ordered for pickup through their website for later in the day -- significantly cheaper than DoorDash, and it was ready right on time with text updates along the way. Food was hot and fresh at pickup. That said, the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew weren't quite what I expected. They actually tasted pretty similar to each other -- mine (Pad Thai) leaned more peanut-forward and tamarind-heavy, his (Pad See Ew) was sweeter with more fish sauce. I'm used to a more orange-hued Pad Thai, but this version was darker, sweeter, and nuttier than I typically like. I did order it hot and gluten free -- appreciated that GF is an option on most dishes, or clearly labeled -- and there was some spice to it, though I could've handled more heat. The Pad See Ew was also very pale compared to the darker, soy-based sauce I'm used to at other spots. Mango sticky rice was the best part of the meal, though I prefer it with a thick coconut cream sauce on top so the rice isn't as dry -- the mango itself was great. The lunch special option come with salad that arrives with peanut sauce dressing. The poke bowl was exactly what I was looking for. Impressed with this restaurant. We ordered takeout and tried the spicy basil fried rice and the pad woon sen. Both dishes were much sweeter than expected, almost dessert-level sweet. The two, what typically are very different dishes, also tasted very similar, as if they shared the same base sauce. Aside from the noodles vs. rice and the basil, there wasn't much distinction between the two. If you enjoy sweeter Thai dishes or a coconut-forward flavor profile, this might be right up your alley. This place is just okay. You can tell it was probably once the place to, now it's just average Thai food. The spring rolls were a little too sticky to each other. I know this tends to happen with spring rolls wraps, but something was a bit off. They were falling apart as I tired to get individual rolls. The pad Thai had a bit too much tamarind sauce in it. It overpowered the dish. The seafood pieces were good though. Service was nice, and they seem to have cool drink specials. Didn't try them though. They have a nice lunch menu as well. read more

The food was prepared quickly and delivered warm to our hotel within a short period. Our initial impression was that the portions were generous, with both containers filled to the brim. I walked in the door, wasn't in my seat yet, and they wanted my drink menu. I had not even seen a menu. I picked up the menu and it was NASTY! Sticky with food and stickiness all over it. I asked for hot tea. I had to tell the server everything I needed for it that should've been brought with it. Spoon, Splenda, Creamer, and a clean mug. All items were different trips to the back. Came here after an all day school tour at Georgia Southern University- The place had great reviews so we checked it out very small quaint place but the service was great and the food was yummy. The decor of the place was very gallery like with different form of art throughout the walls. Back to the food there were four of us so we tried different dishes. I had the pineapple fried rice with chicken it was good and presented inside of an actual pineapple. The other dish was pad Thai with shrimp and it was good without the peanuts due to a peanut allergy. Another dish was masamon chicken curry which the hubby throughly enjoyed. The last dish was crispy fried beef. It was very tasty as well. For apps we had the dumplings and friend coconut shrimp. We came in for lunch, had a salad and a curry. The curry was unlike any curry I've ever had, the curry sauce was more like a broth; I missed the coconut in it. I had ordered the red curry with pineapple, and it tasted as if they had poured some of the canned pineapple syrup in the sauce. It was definitely not my favorite. The tofu in it was good though and the veggies were OK. My husband had the green curry, it was tasty but a bit thin. The salads were OK but a bit overpriced for what you get. The owner and her daughter are freaking awesome. Food is great. Only a handful of times I've had my food not the best flavor. But I've always returned. TAKE MY MONEY. this is my comfort food. And reminds me of my step mommas cooking. I do wish their spicy, (Thai hot) was hotter. But their curry is good, their rice is amazing. Their food is good 90% of the time and I've been coming here for about 3 years. They're also open damn near everyday. Their larb salad is soooo freaking yummy. Their basil rolls are even better. Nothing here has been short of delicious. The atmosphere is intimate and the decor is really fun (Epic gallery wall.) I recommend the pad Thai, pad see ew, spring rolls, shrimp stir fry, and recently, my fiancé had the crispy beef which he said was delicious. I've also had good experiences with the curry soups. This is a small Thai restaurant. They were properly full on a Friday evening. The service was great. The appetizers were great but could use a little more seasoning, which the sriracha and plum sauce helped offset. The carrot and cabbage spring rolls were not hot in the center. Side note - I have always found the cabbage-carrot combination wanting in the flavor department as I prefer rolls with pork or more flavor in general. The calamari quality was great. It was not rubbery and coated perfectly in tempura (although, I prefer a little more salt/pepper or even some fried chili's in there). The beef pad kee mao (asked for hot not Thai hot), was a perfect blend of sweet, umami/salt, and spicy. The Thai basil in it seemed a little dry and sparse but otherwise it was PERFECT. My husband loved his beef medallion stating that it wasn't too sweet. He also liked his garlic fried rice but I thought the fried rice came out too smoky. I've never had smoky fried rice so that was a first. The best part! We ordered mango and blood orange sherbet for dessert. Wow! These sherbets I suspect were home made and so flavorful and refreshing! I highly recommend trying the sherbet. They had an ample drink menu. As I'm expecting, I had the jasmine hot tea. It came bagged but it did deliver on flavor so no complaints there. Overall, it's definitely a place that I would return! I'm a huge fan of pad kee mao so I'm glad that this is available in my hometown. Hopefully, I'll stray from my favorite Thai dish to try other dishes next time. read more

Very flavorful and filling. Though the dish could've done without the tofu, it was good. I really appreciated the option to order online & have curbside pickup! I commute to Statesboro from Pooler for school and found thus place on yelp. It's located in a convenient little shopping center with plenty of parking. I called in my order for takeout. I was in the mood for something refreshing and didn't feel like eating a heavy lunch so I ordered the beef salad which was really good! It didn't come with dressing on the side and after I started to eat it I knew exactly why. The salad is already perfectly tossed in a dressing of wonderful flavors. On a trip to Statesboro, I was looking for a highly rated restaurant for dinner. Coconut Thai had the second most reviews in the town and solid ones at that so my decision was made. We stopped by on a Thursday evening. Coconut Thai is located in a shopping center, a semi-run down one, but parking isn't an issue. Once you enter, the restaurant looks a lot nicer on the inside with a bunch of mirrors, a nice bar, and nice decor. We started off with some summer cocktails. I had the strawberry pina colada which was really strong. The flavor wasn't the greatest but I appreciated a stiff drink. It did take them a while to get our cocktails out. We started off with the chicken satay, four marinated skewers, with peanut sauce. The skewers were delicious and had a nice coat of sweet glaze. We also got a side order of roti which is a type of Indian bread served warm. Also great! For our main dish, we shared the pad see ew with beef. This popular Thai dish came with noodles and broccoli in a brown sauce. All-around, the food was fantastic. Service was standard. Added bonus: 15% off if you order an appetizer and entree. read more
