Working with Kayla was the best decision of our entire wedding planning process! I could write a novel on how lucky my husband and I were to have worked with her for our wedding in May. We are forever grateful for having her help guide us through one of the most magical chapters of our lives that could have otherwise been incredibly overwhelming and stressful. To start, Kayla is truly a powerhouse of an advocate for the couples she works with and is responsible for making our wedding day be the most magical day of our lives. We know that without her, the wedding weekend we had and the circumstances of our wedding day wouldn't have been possible without her. We were so fortunate to have her in our corner through all of the ups and the downs through our 1.5 years of planning. Kayla is an absolute professional. Everyone always says your wedding day will not go perfectly and Kayla executed a 3 day weekend of events with very stressful weather concerns flawlessly while making it look easy and like there wasn't a stress in the world. I know that she protected my husband and I from so much stress and concern through our wedding and we are so grateful of the professional that she is. Kayla is organized, engaged and communicative. Multiple people from our wedding party from both budget and luxury end weddings have shared nightmare stories about their wedding planners being disengaged, uncommunicative and disorganized. However, Kayla exceeded our expectations in every area. She was communicative and responsive to both my husband and I through our entire wedding planning process and beyond, both as individuals and as a couple. She was engaged with our vendors and with our wedding planning. Also, as a type A bride with difficultly letting go of control, she was as type A organized as any event planner could dream of being and any bride could hope for! Often, the wedding planner is often forgotten or standing on the sidelines but not here - my family, wedding party and guests have been raving about Kayla since the wedding over two months ago. She kept a large bridal party focused and organized which is near impossible to do and helped everyone feel prepared for a chaotic weekend. So much so, the weekend was so calm and not chaotic for us at all. The things that could have gone wrong, didn't go wrong because of her and her alone. Kayla also made the wedding planning so fun for my husband and I from beginning to end. I have dreamed of planning my wedding for so long and it was very important for me to have a part in the planning process and not just be along for the ride. Kayla allowed me to walk alongside her through the process in a collaborative approach to wedding planning and not just be on the receiving end of decisions. Lastly, my husband and I both have strong personalities and opinions that often differ and she was patient, kind but also direct and honest with us. I'm very detail oriented and organized and even before I started wedding planning I didn't think I needed more than a day of coordinator and I was so wrong. My husband and I were originally getting married in Cancun Mexico in November 2020 but we had to postpone it to May 2021 but then travel restrictions forced us to postpone again and move our wedding location completely. We found a venue in San Diego we liked but they required us to hire a planner. By this point in the wedding planning process I was fed up and just wanted someone who could essentially take the lead and tell me what I needed to do. From the moment I had my first phone conversation with Kayla trying to find a wedding planner I immediately knew I wanted to hire her. Talking to her didn't feel like she was trying to sell me, she told me her whole philosophy and why she became a planner and how she works and how she grew and trained her team. She told me what was important to her and those things are what matched exactly what I was looking for in a planner. I could tell she genuinely loves what she does and is so passionate about being the planner that the couple needs. Kayla is the absolute sweetest but when she has to, she will lay down the law which is the perfect combination. She will have those honest conversations with you about your budget and if they matched your expectations and when those need adjusting. She also helped us stay on track in planning our new wedding in under 5 months. She made sure we were thinking about every detail and that we had a plan for everything. She helped us stay focused on what was most important to us, but she also made sure Sean and I were taking the time to still enjoy each other in the planning process and sent us some popcorn seasoning for a movie date night in. The month leading up to our wedding, it felt as though we were the only couple Southern House was working with and we're sure that is how every couple feels when working with Kayla and her team. Kayla accomodated to my busy work schedule and knew that texting and hoping on calls during my lunch breaks were the best way to get answers from me. She made sure all the major plans and details were buttoned up a week before our wedding so we could relax and enjoy the days leading up along with our wedding day. Kayla and her team exceeded our expectations on every aspect of planning and executing our wedding day. This day would not have happened if it wasn't for Kayla. Kayla went above and beyond. She worked with our other vendors and threw in extra surprises for Sean and I. Even though she wasn't there physically she was in constant communication with her team. Jessica, Jordyn. & Kellie were so amazing day of the wedding. They were so professional and executed everything perfectly. They were also constantly checking in with the bridal party making sure we had everything we needed and always answered any questions we had. I don't even know where to start!! Kayla and her team are incredible. When I set up my call with Kayla I had no idea all the amazing things that were about to happen. She spent a long time on the phone with me describing what they do and what their goal is. I quickly began to fall in love with her. As I got closer to my wedding day probably the most common advice I received from friends and family was "Everything is not going to go perfect and things will go wrong, but you need to be okay with just letting it go." While it was meant with the best intentions, and I appreciate them trying to calm my nerves, it was really a non-issue thanks in part to our coordinator, Kayla. Kayla single-handedly took what can be a very, very stressful day and made it a day of joy and removed as much stress that she possibly could on her end. We had talked to a couple of coordinators and she came off as truly genuine; she wanted to know our story and get to know us better as a couple. Go figure from that meeting in March that not only did we get someone who became our safety valve, someone who we could trust implicitly and work tirelessly with us, but also a good friend. Her thoroughness and diligence to find an answer for every little thing we asked, and trust me it was a lot, was much appreciated. The vendors she recommended essentially comprised what I later jokingly referred to as "the dream team" since they were all wonderful and performed their duties admirably. Nearly two months after we still have guests from the wedding remarking how beautiful, fun and organized our wedding was. That really says a lot. Work ethic aside, Kayla is patient and was willing to hear us and offer feedback no matter how outlandish, at least in our eyes, the request was. She took meticulous notes that were then organized and emailed to us later for reference. My wife and I actually attended a good friend's wedding recently, and on the way over our ride-share driver remarked "these things never start on time anyways" to which my wife quickly fired back, "unless you have Kayla!". The day of our wedding everything seemingly went off without a hitch or a snag, and the timeline set out the week prior was followed to a "T". No joke, our 4:30 ceremony started at 4:30. Some guests that perhaps made the same assumption as our ride-share driver had to make a hurried scramble over to witness the start of the ceremony. But that's great, we needed someone to keep us on schedule and to make sure everyone knew what to do and where to be and Kayla accomplished just that. To finish up, Kayla is a consummate professional and is fantastic at what she does. It's all said and done now but it's comforting to know that if we ever needed to plan an event, no matter the scale of it, that she'll be there and would be more than willing to help out in any way she can.
