The doctor, counselors, and nursing staff knew exactly what I needed, and they acted on it immediately. I was able to eat, walk around, and actually sleep throughout the process. A huge thank you to the doctor, Porsha, Alicia, and Mike (the skinny guy with the long hair)--your genuine concern and expertise made all the difference. While the snack cart takes a minute to get around, the staff is quick to help if you just ask. It's rare to find a place where everyone seems so genuinely concerned about your success. My only complaint would be the lax way they enforce their smoking policy. There's someone smoking right outside the ER entrance. You have to walk through that noxious cloud to get in the door. I would like to sit outside at the picnic table but there is too much cigarette smoke stinking up the place. There's very visible signage out there but no enforcement.

Now that being said, I was fortunate enough to only be visiting at this location and didn't have to come for a medical reason. Staff were all so friendly and directed me to where I needed to go. The medical center was clean and organized. The cafeteria, well was a cafeteria. The food wasn't bad, they have to prep so much food for sooooooo many people, it's a little out of their control what goes quickly and what may be there for awhile. They were friendly and courteous though. I'm hopeful that I don't need to have any medical procedures, but from what I have seen here I would say I'd be willing to come here if I needed something done.

The QR code sent me to a website. The website said I had a zero balance. So naturally there was not anything to pay. Then I get a notice that my bill was sent to a collection agency. So how can you pay a bill without a balance. Seems sketchy to myself. If I can help it I will not be back here for myself. They need to sell to UAB so we can have a decent hospital in the area!

On June 16, 2025 at 1:30am, my wife took my 10-month-old son to the St. Thomas DeKalb ER with a…read morefever of 103.7°F. The experience was deeply upsetting and unprofessional. From the registration nurse to the ER nurses and attending physician, the staff was rude and dismissive to my wife and son. They rushed through the examination, failing to properly assess his condition. They attempted to use an adult-sized catheter on my infant, which my wife had to intervene to stop--a dangerous and careless mistake. The ER doctor (Dr. Mark Reiter) checked my son's ears and throat, claimed everything looked fine, and diagnosed a viral infection, advising us it would "run its course." Keep in mind that this Doctor is on the Executive Board of Middle Tennessee Emergency Physicians. Feeling dismissed, we took our son to his pediatrician the next day, who immediately noticed his throat was severely inflamed and diagnosed a severe case of strep throat via testing. The pediatrician noted that his throat was so raw it was surprising he could drink his bottle. This misdiagnosis could have led to serious complications if we hadn't sought a second opinion. The ER staff's behavior was unacceptable. They were socializing and appeared more focused on rushing us out than providing care. I'm pursuing a formal complaint with the hospital and state authorities due to this negligence and lack of professionalism. I strongly advise others to avoid this ER, especially for pediatric emergencies, as their care fell far below acceptable standards.

I went to the Emergency Room early Sunday, February 8th morning with uncontrolled bleeding from my…read morenasal cavity (as a result of ruptured artery after septum surgery). They took me right in and was caring for my needs. They were so kind and supportiv. They tried everything they could to stop the bleeding. Being a small rural hospital, they didn't have the staff to be able to fix my condition and had to transfer me. But there was nothing else that they could do. They contacted my original surgeon and was coordinating my transfer to Summit Hospital in Hermitage, TN who was on staff that day. I treated kindly and I really appreciated the care I received on a weekend. I made it just in time to have emergency surgery in Nashville.
