Where to start... well first and foremost anyone that lives here in the Hanford /Lemoore area knows that finding a esthetician is almost impossible. Coming from a city where getting a Brazilian or sugaring is almost on every few blocks living here is a big eye-opener. I am so happy I gave southern roots a go because I surely wasn't disappointed! Location is a bit tricky because the parking lot you may miss it buts it's a short couple feet if you do. It's located on the second floor. The place was clean and had a very cheerful vibe. I loved that Joy uses natural hard wax for the gentle areas if your familiar with the process you know soft wax there.... isn't so enjoyable Her pricing is very fair! She holds great conversation which in turn is great distraction lol I will DEFINITELY be coming back ! I RECOMMEND to anyone in the lemoore/Hanford area who doesn't want to drive to FRESNO she can take care of all those needs! read more

I was looking to get a full leg wax while I was in town so I called to see if I could get in a asap. I got an appt for the following morning and it ended up being thorough, minimal pain, and quicker than most. We had a good conversation and it was very clean and comfortable. I will definitely be back for additional services too. If you have a daughter at Baylor I would completely recommend. Best outside a big city I've found. read more

I have been looking for an esthetician that would meet my needs for over a year. I was blown away by how welcoming and flexible with scheduling she is. Established in 2019.

In May of 2019, Joy Rise left the place she was waxing for over a year and a half and started her own business. We made it through the pandemic in one piece!

Meet the Business Owner: Joy R.

Hi, my name is Joy Rise and I love people! I have been a licensed Cosmetologist since 2008 and didn't figure out that waxing was my passion until 2017. I have been waxing full time since then and I thoroughly LOVE interacting with my clients. I am always here to make sure that you feel comfortable during all services. I am by appointment only but that doesn't mean I can't arrange a last minute appointment or that I can be flexible on my schedule to accommodate my clients. From a long time client, to a first time waxer, every client is treated with respect and professionalism. My facility ideally makes you feel comfortable and at home. Waxing can bring anxiety, but my job is to take that anxiety away and show you that waxing really will change everything! If you aren't sure if you will like it, give it a try and see how much you really never knew you were missing out! It's a real game changer.

(For example: I'll "joke" about having my platysmal bands removed, and it becomes clear the person has no idea that platysmotomies are even a thing. Yeah. I just have them Botox my crows feet and be on my way.) I quickly got the feeling that Dr. Smith both knows a LOT about facial structure and has some aesthetic sense, so I was willing to go for something a little more involved than I'd normally be: 7 syringes of Bellafill in temples and under eye. Despite popping Arnicas for 2 days prior, I swelled up unrecognizable after the 2nd treatment (3 syringes). The 4 photos left to right are: before, immediately after, 36 hours after, and 6 days after. So obviously if you get a few syringes of filler, maybe don't schedule an appearance that week, and don't freak out if you swell up like I did. (From what I can gather, I'm in a minority of people who swell up this badly.) Dr. Smith knows that he's doing and I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in Waco.

Thank you Sam! However, I did not have a good interaction with who I believe is the salon manager, Stacy. (Although she could've been the receptionist, I'm not quite sure) She was standoffish, a bit rude, and it seemed like she didn't want to help me at all. After checking in at my second appointment, I went back up to the front desk because I had a simple question about a product that I purchased during my first appointment. As I started to speak, she cut me off saying that I needed to have a seat and that Sam was going to be with me shortly. Before I could even say another word, she turned and walked away from me. I didn't say anything during my appointment because I wasn't going to let someone who was clearly having a bad day ruin mine, but I thought it would be important for the salon owners to know how she is treating clients. I will be returning to see Sam, and hopefully the other woman is having a better day when I return.

In September 2025, the cost for having my lashes done went from $59 to $75. Pretty extreme if you ask me. I voiced my concerns to the owner. Her response was that they are now offering their own line and have more options for their clients. Nothing whatsoever is different about the lashes I am getting, so why the increase? In addition to increasing my charge - no one bothered to let me know ahead of time. I found out when I was checking out. Seriously bad customer service. Then, less than 4 months later they increased the cost AGAIN. Mariah called me the night before my next appointment to let me know because she knew I was very upset with the last increase and not being informed ahead of time. She's a sweetheart and really cares about her clients. Once again, I spoke with the owner about the increase. She told me that Mariah's level was raised so they were compensating her for that increase. Mariah deserved the promotion!!! However I further questioned the owner and expressed my displeasure with the increases. I informed her (since she didn't know and apparently didn't care), that their pricing had increased 44% in just 4 months. I told her that she was making decisions that would obviously impact customers negatively and had she given that any thought. Again, she didn't appear to care. Now, today I open the receipt for my service yesterday.... They charged me for some hairspray and my lashes and I included the tip. Once again to my surprise, a new fee had been added with no notice. I can't even believe they have the audacity to charge it - a "CONVENIENCE TIP FEE" of approximately 5.5% if you put the tip on your credit card. I immediately called and spoke with Layla asking her what the heck was that fee. She told me that they have a new system for checking out and it automatically charges that fee if you tip on a credit card. She did offer that I could avoid that by tipping in cash. My response - YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!' let me get this straight, your new system charges me in order to pay for the new system? She then asked if I'd like to speak with the owner. I told her no because she continues to charge her customers for anything she chooses without any regard for or any communication to the customers and couldn't care less. I will be submitting this review anywhere and everywhere I can over the next couple of days. It's a shame that she doesn't care that Mariah has now lost another client due to her poor management and business ethics. Done and done
