Visiting Foley from out of state, we brought my MIL out for lunch here. Before visiting, I called…read moreto inquire about handicap access because she has breathing issues and is easily winded even with her portable oxygen. I was told there were several handicap accessible entrances including the atrium in the front. We parked on the street in front of the atrium and entered through those doors. My MIL told the hostess that she couldn't walk too far because of her breathing issues and the hostess said that was no problem. However, for an older person with mobility and breathing issues the distance between reception and the dining area was significant, and we paused once for her to catch her breath. We were seated at the table closest to the door, which was preferable, and our waitress stopped at the table within a short period of time. My MIL asked if the restaurant serves alcohol, and the waitress said they could get her anything she wanted. She ordered a Pinot Grigio, and I asked if the restaurant has decaf espresso. She said no, so I said that I would still like an espresso martini even if it was caffeinated. She said they don't have espresso martinis. I asked her to take my husband's drink order and come back to me, and I ordered the same wine as my MIL for simplicity's sake. We also ordered two apps at the same time. The dining room was sufficiently busy with what appeared to be only two waitresses. She returned with our drinks promptly and took our entree orders, including my MIL's request for two beignets to go. She returned with appetizers in a decent amount of time, at which time I feel like things took a turn for the worse after the waitress was making room for the food and spilled my husband's water and ice onto the table. We took two of our cloth napkins and tried to stop the water from dripping into my MIL's lap, and the waitress said she was having a "Monday on a Tuesday." Given her less-than-happy demeanor, she clearly wasn't having a great day. Look, we've all had bad days, but the customer should still receive proper attention and we did not. We asked for more napkins to replace the wet ones; we never got them. I flagged down the other waitress and asked for napkins; she also ignored our request. My husband ended up taking two place settings off a nearby table after it was clear that no one was bringing them. Our waitress never asked how our food was, never refilled our water, nor asked if we wanted anything else, and we sat for quite a while after finishing our food before she stopped by again. We had been in the restaurant for an extended period of time at this point, and my MIL's oxygen machine started to run low. We got the waitress' attention and explained the situation, asking for the check and to cash out so we could get her home. My MIL reminded her that we had ordered the desserts to go and she said she remembered. The bill came and the credit card was run, but no pen to sign with so fortunately I had one in my purse. My MIL handed her a cash tip, and then we waited. And waited. And waited for the to go dessert. The waitress passed by several times knowing that we needed to go as soon as possible, but did not comment on how long it would be before the food was ready. I suggested that my husband help my MIL to the car since it was a bit of a walk in her condition and I would wait for the dessert. Ten more minutes after they walked out went by, and the dessert still hadn't come out. My husband tried to call me to say we needed to get going but there isn't any cell phone reception and no available Wi-Fi so he left her in the vehicle to come get me so we could bring my MIL home. Within 20 minutes we returned to get the dessert. She had asked for two orders when we placed the order, and when I was handed the container it was a single beignet. We had no desire to wait for another to be made, and after checking the slip we saw that only one had been entered by the waitress. As I said, people have bad days and I get it. Today's experience was less than 5 stars, and my MIL still tipped well. Her steak was excellent, our salmon and oysters were decent but not outstanding. The Caesar dressing was very flavorful, but the potato salad tasted similar to store bought although I assume it was made in house. Assessing the entire experience, 2,5 stars seems appropriate. My MIL said she would try them again sometime, so if that happens I will be sure to update the review.
