You walk in and it's like the '70s, '80s, and a little bit of someone's '90s basement bar all got together and said, "Let's not change a thing." Old banquet-style tables, a bar top that feels like it's hosted a thousand stories, and walls that have clearly seen some things. I loved it immediately. Now let's talk food. The folks next to me were deep into the chicken and dumplings and talking about it like it was a life event. You know that kind of table chatter where you start reconsidering your order mid-bite? Yeah, that. I went shrimp po' boy... and no regrets. Shrimp fried just right. Crispy, flavorful, doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Solid sandwich. The fries... eh, they showed up a little tired. Not terrible, just kind of there. A little cold, a little soggy, like they'd already had a long day. But here's the twist. You don't come to Judy's for perfection. You come for personality. For the feeling that you just discovered a place that doesn't care about trends, doesn't need a remodel, and definitely isn't chasing Instagram. It just is what it is... and somehow that works. The place where locals go for good quality food at a very reasonable price. We will miss this place as we prepare to move back to Georgia next week. When we arrived at 6:00 every table was full including the bar on a Thursday night. Our waitress Felecia did an ok job, perhaps it was because of the 100% full, or the heat as the air-conditioning was not working and it was quite warm. Despite those obstacles, the food was tasty as always. I can not imagine how hot the kitchen was. We ordered only entrees tonight. I had the Country fried chicken with okra, coleslaw and hush puppies, I asked for the white gravy on the side and she had the pork chop with fries and broccoli. Both were cooked and seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. This place has been very good for the duration of our stay in Mobile (1.5 years). The food is amazing, and reasonably priced the staff is incredible with prompt attentive service, and the ambiance is perfect: not so formal as to require upscale dress but very well maintained and clean. I would recommend this place to everyone. The menu is diverse enough that you could eat there every day for two weeks and never run out of variety. My daughter and I ate at Judy's Place on a Saturday afternoon. I had fried catfish, okra and French fries with homemade tartar sauce. My daughter had chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and onion rings. I will say that about half of our food was frozen food but what was freshly made was great and even the frozen stuff was still really good. They did a great job with the food and service was pretty good as well. We will for sure be back to try some other foods. read more

We were out looking for a nice place to have dinner, and we found Judy's Place. We both had Rib Eye Steak, done just thee way we like it. Full of flavor AND tender. We booth had a baked potato done to perfection. The hush puppies differently waged the dog's tail. Last but not lease the Pecan Pie. Service was great and friendly. Great lunch at Judy's today. Haven't been in a while but we decided since in the area this would be our place today. I had the hamb steak with O&G mac&cheese, and fresh fruit. Mac& cheese outsanding and hamb steak. Perhaps my favorite was the fruit consisting of sliced peaches. Potentially out of a can but very firm and favorable. We tried Judy's because a local Facebook page highly recommended them. The place is large and spacious, and we were seated much quicker than the 15 minutes they estimated. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I'm always impressed by servers who refill my drink before I even have to ask. I was, however, disappointed by the food. Everything tasted like it was out of a can, box or jar. The mashed potatoes were definitely instant potatoes. I felt like I could just go to the supermarket and assemble the same ingredients. It's not horrible, but it's not enough of a draw to warrant a return trip. Again, great service and obviously popular with a lot of regulars. read more

We get the same thing EVERY time we dine here. Food is delicious. We get the turnip greens as a side and they are always barely warm. No biggie. Tonight, I wanted a little butter for my roll. I waited for someone, anyone, to look my way so I could get their attention. I saw our server in a pow wow with 2 other servers across the restaurant, talking for at least 15 minutes. Not a big thing, just the lack of service after the food was delivered. When we were finished eating, she came asking of course, "how was everything? Having dessert?" I had to mention our two little issues, just because I think they need to know. She was nice, and said that I should have stood up and waved my hands... Huh? (Sorry, I don't do that.) and offered a dessert which we declined. We go to the desk to pay and the girl working there ( presumably) was staring at her phone intently... after several seconds, my husband asked did she work there. She apologized and then said "we got a bad review ". Well NO KIDDING! I love the food here, but service is lacking. This seems like a neighborhood sports bar with a lovely, welcoming, down-home feel. They were really understaffed (as is almost every place during the time of COVID-19), and the sole server, George, did a great job of taking care of the entire 30-table place. Although we arrived about 3:45p, we still received a lunch menu. At the time that we were here, there was a wide age range, I was pleasantly surprised to see a mostly mature (imagine traditional retirees) clientele. My mom ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which came with lettuce , tomato and onion . You could add cheese, grilled onions or mushrooms to the sanduwich for a nominal additional cost. While the lunch sandwich came with one side, mom ordered two sides, green beans and mashed potatoes). Everything tasted really delicious. It all had a down-home flair without being too greasy or salty. We really enjoyed the food, our server and our overall experience. I personally did not like the mushroom appetizers. The skin fell off, and they had no flavor at all. I got the Mahi mahi overrice with some crawfish Julian on the side, some fried okra, and onion rings. And we also got button sauteed mushrooms My mahi was really dry. The only flavor it had was on the outside, and it wasn't much flavor. The oakra didn't have much flavor either. I had to add salt. The salted mushrooms crawfish julian, and the steamed broccoli was absolutely amazing, though! I could be wrong but I believe our servers. Name was Dylan, and he was absolutely amazing. First time visiting. Went for lunch with my husband. I had blackened chicken breast that was seasoned perfectly, Mac and cheese, baby limas, and hush puppies. Great portions and prices. Husband had the chicken fried steak with gravy and mashed potatoes,fried okra., and hush puppies. I ordered the chocolate French silk pie for dessert and it was the perfect ending to my meal.
