My initial experience was a good one. I went through the first ultrasound of my legs and was told…read moreI did have varicose veins. The doctor did ask me if I had "ever" worked which was very insulting as I have worked full time since I was 16 years old. I am also in the health care profession. At first I was scheduled to do both legs in the same week - a Tuesday and Thursday. However, I was having issues with my right leg and thought that possibly the varicose veins might be the cause. It was for this reason that I wanted to have the RIGHT leg operated on first. I called to make the appointment and made it very clear that I wanted the RIGHT leg operated on only at this time. However, when I showed up at the appointment, I was told that my LEFT leg was going to be operated on instead. I made it clear that I had scheduled for the right leg and it was important because I was having issues with that leg. Two nurses and I think the office manager left the room to discuss. When they returned, they told me that because Dr. Randleman was on vacation that another physician was doing the procedure and because of the difficulty level and extensive issues in the right leg that I was scheduled for the left leg. I had no idea that another surgeon was performing the procedure. Someone I had never even met. Against my better judgement and intuition, I agreed to go ahead with the procedure on the opposite leg. I had set up transportation and a family member had taken time to drive me and stay there during the procedure per protocol. (I also already had my IV in and gown on.) Everything seemed to go well with the procedure and the nurses and CNA did a great job and were very kind. However, on my followup appointment a week later, I was informed that I had a blood clot in my left leg that was caused by the surgery (EHIT - endovenous heat induced thrombus). Dr Randleman was very condescending and said with a smirk "you are going to be fine". I was then placed on an anticoagulant Xarelto. I came back three more times and each time was told the clot was still there. I work nights and the scheduling person up front was not accommodating in regards to scheduling my appointments and was rather rude about it. Randleman continued to schedule appointments to check the status of my clot. The last time I went I was told that the scheduler would call me back to schedule the appointment because again all that had available was midday and I work nights. They never called to schedule. I ended up going to the ER in the next few weeks to check my clot because I was having leg pain. The radiologist report stated I had a clot in the saphenous vein from knee to ankle. I am taking a baby Aspirin every day now on the advice of the ER physician. However, the clot is probably still there. ALSO, I have a scar and indentions and bruising on my leg STILL after 3.5 months. I had pointed this out to Randleman on my second post op visit and he barely looked and said "that will go away". I will always regret my decision to have this surgery at this facility. Use caution and choose your facility and doctors wisely.
