Excellent! Wonderfully moist cake, delicious frosting, beautifully decorated and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

I tried the white and chocolate cake slices here. The frosting is very light and not too sweet. I liked the yellow cake best. The chocolate doesn't have much chocolate flavor. I will try the red velvet next time. Update 2016 - I ordered a pumpkin pie and an apple strudel for Thanksgiving and they were both very good. read more

MOIST. MOIST. MOIST. MOIST. MOIST. Okay, do you get the picture? Their cake is so moist and baked to perfection. The scoop.......I needed a baby shower cake and on short notice. I called around and got a few quotes. This bakery had the best prices around town and upon calling, they said they could get the cake done with only a few days notice. After my calls were made, I went in to give them my cake idea. The baker (possibly the owner) went over the design with me and threw in a few of his own professional opinions. I appreciated the care he was giving while placing my order. The design I wanted was a reflection of the decorations I had picked for the shower. The baker confidently told me that he could do it. And do it he did! The cake looked amazing when I picked it up. The price cannot be beat either. But most importantly, the flavor of the cake was phenomenal. The cake itself was......you guessed it.......MOIST. I hate dry cake so I was thrilled when I took my first bite. Every single person at the shower asked me where I got the cake from because they too, loved this friggin' cake. I will 100% go here again for any future party cakes I may need. This time I went with a half sheet of marble cake with a whipped frosting. I cannot wait to try some other flavors and maybe even a cake with filling. This place makes the most delicious cakes. The prices are quite reasonable. They've made several birthday cakes for my children and everyone is beautiful, moist, and delicious. There is a display case full of sweets and breakfast treats. Love it! read more

We ordered a nice cake for my mother in law's 70th Birthday several weeks in advance. When I arrived to pick up the guys told me "we gave it to your friend". I told them no one else would have picked it up and showed them the receipt. They kept calling me a liar and demanded me to leave their store while keeping my money. I was shocked. Went to Kroger and got a cake. Came home and Southgate Bakery called me and said someone returned my cake as they actually ordered from Caprara Bakery. I went and picked up the cake after our birthday party had started. Never did they apologize, even when I told them I deserve one. Shame on these two guys for calling me a liar and accusing me (and my "friend") of trying to cheat them. read more

Ordered my wedding cake here last year. Ordered a 2 tier cake but it ended up being a 2 layer cake when I picked it up. Cake was stale as if it had been made several days prior and frosted the night before. I didn't even eat a whole piece on my wedding day. Hello, I see you took my posting down. So I will write it again for you. We ordered this cake on a Wednesday, but after promises of it being earlier, we ended up having to pick it up Saturday. It was an absolutely gorgeous cake, but it was supposed to be cherry chip. It was just tasteless pink. The buttercream looked so good, but it had the mouthfeel of eating a stick of butter. Southgate bakery is wonderful. I just discovered it about 3 years ago but all of our cakes now come from there. Last year for my birthday I had the lemon cake with apricot filling. It was the best combination and so moist and delicious. I was sad when it was gone. I am now ordering a cake for my sister's birthday next week. Cherry nut with cherry filling. Can't wait to have a piece. I love the variety of flavors. They have a wide variety to choose. The decorations are always amazing and so many of my friends now go there. Also, I recently discovered the apple and cherry strudel. The best I ever had. The prices are also very reasonable and better than other bakeries.
