I'm a shelter volunteer and Rover sitter, so I've been to many vets and ERs. I was really impressed with Affiliated. The wait was long and service was expensive, but that's unavoidable. What mattered to me was the customer service. I felt like all three people I interacted with were caring and explained things in plain terms, especially Dr. Lobkovich. Went to MSU where they confirmed she had no cancer (1200) and then Blue Pearl for an MRI (6000) who laughed that we took her there and confirmed she had a stroke. File charges with LARA against this business and the veterinarian involved with your pet They would not refund my money or discuss. Take your pets to Blue Pearl in Ann Arbor or Livonia. I have used this place 3 times now over 16 years when I had a cat emergency after normal vet hours. Once to keep an old cat alive, but twice to have very sick old cats to sleep. I never appreciated them until I went to another emergency vet, Blue Pearl, and had a terrible experience. Blue Pearl kept telling me how much their fees were and didn't really do anything to help my cat. Here price was never talked about. All they cared about was stabilizing my cats if possible and getting them ready and comfortable for the end. They also help the owners get comfortable with the end of life of their pets. Setting the cremation and even doing a paw print for free. Yes, the fees are higher than a normal vet, but not has much as other emergency vets. I hope I will not need them for a while, but glad they are still there all these years. read more

During my desperate time of need I reached to them seeking emergency care for my beloved dog. They answered my call at 2am and gave me a few ideas to consider before I decided to bring her into their office. There were locations I could have considered but I appreciated their professionalism and empathy they showed me when I called. We called inadvance to let them know we were on our way. When arrived the waiting was filled with owners and their animals but it was very clean and relatively calm in the lobby all things considered. The staff was very kind, gentle and knowledgeable. We had a long wait but it was expected but comfortable. The exam room was also very clean. The vet and the technicians were so fabulous, patient and very professional. They educated us on the diagnosis, the meds and steps for aftercare. So grateful for their care, concern and treatment . read more

This place needs to be shut down. They do not care about the animals. It's all about the money! I took my dog there two months ago estimate $6000 for fluids to watch overnight because his kidneys weren't doing well. He was 15 years old. So instead of explaining to me if they did what procedure they wanted to do that he still would not have a good quality of life they would take $6000 from me. Until I straight out asked the doctor if my dog would be have his teeth cleaned and be able to eat with a decent quality of life for what he had left. after I asked that question the doctor after two hours finally said no he would not. So I would've went and debt on credit cards pay $6000 in my animal would've passed away probably a few days later. Took my cat there July 5, 2025 he had a urinary blockage. They wanted again an estimate $5600 to drain this blockage to watch him for two days to give him fluids. The low end was $4800 I offered to give them 2800 down which is more than 50%! I was pay the rest the following day. They would not do it they says can you call someone to write a check. While my cat is In pain meowing, and you can't start a procedure with $2800 so I had to put my baby down. He was only four years old. It is all about the money they don't come and tell you options, they just say this needs to be done and it cost this much! They don't give options or scenarios of what could happen. yeah, legally they may not be able to tell you. Oh, you should do this or you should just put the dog down, but they could say with the age of your animal they may or may not make it through the surgery or if they make it through the surgery, they will not still have the best quality of life so it's your option if you go through the surgery or best choices for you. They don't say none of that. They just want the money.They just want you to pay the money. this is all true because five years my dog was in a car accident. I brought her there back then obviously the prices were lower. They wanted to charge me closer to $3000 just to keep her overnight for two nights to give her fluids and monitor her to see if she was bleeding inside. Otherwise the x-rays blood work everything was fine. The $3000 overnight stay was just a precaution. Luckily, I had a friend with me explaining that her x-rays and labs were normal that we can monitor at home and give her the pain meds. She is still alive today. I walked out of there with a $500 bill instead of $3000 that was never needed. It just breaks my heart to so many people who don't even bring home 5600$ a month and and then this can sit there and charge somebody thousands of dollars for no reason. I took my dog to my primary vet had her teeth cleaned. She was a rescue poor health the surgery had complications, They kept her for three days. My primary vet only charged $1300. That was the pull 40 teeth, EKG x-rays, and pain medsAnd keep her for three days. Yes it's not an emergency but come on now $6000 outrageous. This place needs to be shut your animal here and I'm not they were rude and ignorant to my 15-yr daughter, when we put my down two months they gave her a paw print so my daughter asked when we get a paw print for our cat chippy. The vet was rude and says "no we don't do that No more you take the cat home to dispose or you get them cremated" First of all we're both upset because I have to put my cat down and now you're telling me I have to bring it home. She did not explain fully that the cremation was a group cremation did not cost that much, which included the paw print. Because when I put my yorkie down two months ago, they didn't say any options about bringing my animal home. They just cremated him and called us a couple days later to give me a paw print. The doctor at that time was more gentle saying yes you can have a paw print. Yes I am upset because I lost both of my fur babies in a matter of two months. my kitty was only 4 yrs old! but what I'm saying is amazing how you come up with the same estimate for two different diagnoses 5600-6000. my cat may not have even made it if they started that surgery so my $2800 would've been sufficient to start the medical care. so what if my cat didn't make it, were they actually gonna give me my money back or say oh no that contributed to what we did. Avoid this place like the plague. On 4/24/25 my imperial Shih Tzu went into labor, She delivered the 1st pup at home, it died. I called ahead to Affiliated Vet. When I arrived I was told that there was a 2 1/2 hr wait. They wanted me to sit in the lobby with my dog in a soft carry case. When I told them to cancel the check-in, they took her back and said they would do the X-ray and blood work. A man came in and checked in with a 50-60 lbs dog who was having problems breathing, One of the assistants came picked him up and carried him to the back to give him oxygen, tell the man that he can come and sit with the dog. I sat in the lobby for four hours. Never once was I allowed to see my dog , I was to an exam of came in every 30 minutes or so, with some type of procedure with the cost asked me to sign documents. I was told that the puppy that was still inside of her deformed and had shadow breathing after being x-rays, exam and ultrasound was $500. I was then told that she needed a C-section which would cost $4900 when I told them I could not afford that I was asked what could I pay she disappeared again came back in 30 minutes with a price of $2900. I said no to give me my dog. I that I can apply for credit. I was given a brochure I was not approved later on. I found out it was because I have a block on my credit report after another 30 minutes I was lead to a place in Michigan and told that it be $1500 to walk door delivery would be $2900 again I asked for my dog so I could leave. I was told that she was delivering the next puppy that the head was out, I told them I wanted to see my dog. I was not allowed again. I don't know if they ever took her out of her carrying case. I was finally brought my dog and here 2 deceased pups. I asked what was I suppose to do with them, I was then told that it cost $45 each to dispose of them. When I came in I was told that they would dispose of the pup at no charge. I was not given any after care instructions or meds, I was told I would receive a email which I didn't get. Cat killers. My husband and I noticed our cat was acting weird, drool coming out of his mouth and not moving much so we rushed him to the nearest emergency vet - which just happened to be this ungodly place. Long story short they said his bladder was blocked, may be unblocked naturally but that they'd have to keep him a few days. Ok. They call the next day and say that he's eating and more alert. Fantastic news! Next day, he went pee on his own but we get another call 5 hours later basically saying it's back and if we don't cough up another 3k that they'll have to euthanize him. I honestly believe that they just wanted more money. He has been peeing fine up until the point he went to the vet and then he got a block? She vomited 6 times in two days. I was worried she could dehydrate and i couldn't find a single vet who would fit her in before a month! So Affiliated Veterinary Emergency knows that. And they use it to their advantage by hijacking the prices. The staff were all very friendly and professional. They were patient and listened to me and asked good questions. But then the plan of diagnose and treatment came in at $495 for a vomiting cat, with X-rays and sedatives and fluids etc. That would be to determine IF she had a blockage, and if so, i could expect to follow through with the treatment of surgery or ??? So, another $600 or more? They wouldn't say. I declined that extreme charge cuz the cat has her full appetite and good mood. She is healthy and not dehydrated or bloated or irritable. So the assistant went back to the vet in the back room (who doesn't discuss the treatment with the pet owner) to tell her i declined and she back with a solution of a $158 injection of Cerenia to keep her from vomiting for 24 hours, and i should still visit my vet the next day. ??? 1) Why would i want to keep my pet from vomiting if she needs to vomit? Vomiting is a natural response to something going on in her stomach. 2) It was only going to do this for 24 hours anyway, and i still needed to visit my vet - who would again charge me for another treatment. I paid my $80 and let them know I wasted my money with them. But they made theirs so my opinion didn't matter. read more

My dog Zoey had a couple seizures at the worst time... a Sunday night. I mean, any time is bad for a dog to seizure, but on a Sunday night, when all the vets are closed? I worried as much about finding a place to take her as I did about her current condition. That's where AVES comes in. I called and explained our situation and they recommended we bring Zoey in to see the vet. I filled out routine paper work and we got placed in a room within 20 minutes. We didn't get to see the doctor until 45 minutes later but the rooms are large and have a 2-person bench to sit on. It was a comfortable wait. Zoey was diagnosed with epilepsy. The doctor recommended putting her on medication but also gave us the choice of waiting it out since she doesn't have them frequently enough to truly warrant meds. It was nice to hear the pros and cons of starting her on anti-seizure medication from the vet. Throughout the entire visit, my dog was very apprehensive of everyone working there. She has a large bark and is very tense when she meets new people. I applaud the employees for recognizing Zoey's need for humans to "be on her level" close to the ground and having to sniff them before she eases. Not all people are willing to chill on the floor for a couple minutes to let a dog sniff them; I've had a couple people opt to put her in a muzzle, which she totally doesn't need. The doctor also followed my dog's preferred protocol and earned Zoey's trust in a matter of minutes. She didn't care that Zoey wanted to give lots of kisses and lick her hands, she saw it as my dog wanting to bond. It made me feel better during what was a very stressful visit. The visit was $70. I think it may have cost more than usual because it was a weekend. They told me (without hassle) on the phone what a visit would cost, so I was not shocked. AVES is open 24/7, 365 days a year, so remember them if your cat or dog ever has an emergency. tl;dr: Great 24/7 emergency vet with caring staff. read more

I expected a wait for emergency treatment but 3 hours was excessive. I brought my 23 month old small dog in for what I suspected was an infection. We waited in an empty lobby for 3 hours while the entire staff sat around talking to each other. The $99 emergency exam only included the doctor taking vitals. The lobby area had a large, semi-dry pee spot with a wet floor sign in the middle. It was there before we got there and after we left. The paint was chipping and scratched and the seating was an absolute nightmare- extremely uncomfortable. Staff were not accommodating and extremely unpleasant. If you're in an emergency- you'd be better off going somewhere else or trying a home remedy. If you don't have options, take a snack and some water. You'll be there a while. And don't expect to see any smiling faces. I did not proceed with treatment for the reasons mentioned above. I've gotten better service at a McDonalds. The front desk staff was the worst- very short, dismissive and told me she had better things to do so I took my dog and left. This is an emergency vet, and they prioritize animals based on their emergency type, the same way it works at the human ER. Unlike a human ER, they have limited number of doctors on at any given time. They unfortunately have to turn some people away, even if they have a true emergency, because their vet is in surgery and they don't have another vet to evaluate or go into emergency surgery for a pet. I've visited twice in 1 year, one time I waited 4 hours to be seen with my dog, and the other time my two dogs had their stomachs pumped immediately to prevent poisoning. A third time, I was told the wait was hours and hours long and they recommended I go to a different emergency vet. I call before arriving every single time to make sure they can see us. And the vets care about my pets here, they recommend what they would do for their own pets, and they take the time to speak with me and answer my questions. read more

The tech told me they would go over what they were going to do as well as pricing. After 2 1/2 hours and no doctor I told them I wanted my cat and I was leaving. They brought my cat and she had alcohol on her stomach. I said I thought you told me they didn't do anything. She said they didn't. The doctor did an ultrasound? We had an emergency with our senior dog late on a Friday evening. I called first and the person who answered the phone was very nice, took our info and advised us it was best to come in. We called upon arrival and they sent a tech out to our vehicle to evaluate our dog. It was great because the tech used to work at our regular vet and knew our dog well, this gave us a lot of comfort. She decided it was best that she take our dog in and do further evaluation. We were then called in within a short time and the dr advised what the problem was.
