Played here for the first time via Spark league. Navigation to the course was accurate and there…read morewas a lot of parking available.. I walked toward the golf cart shack and bag drop and found the pro shop. The guy who checked me in was very nice and explained everything to me since it was my first time there. I got a small bucket of balls which is equivalent to a medium elsewhere, for $10. They do not have Tap to checkout but he was able to type in my card info for payment. A cart was dropped off for me just outside the shop and the attendant gave me the key. I headed to the range. The range has two parts- old school and new school. I stayed on the old school part. The last are in good shape. There are lots of flags out there but I didn't know the distance. The golf cart is basic. No GPS. No cooler (outside coolers not permitted). No rake. No club or ball washer. No towel. No tees. Just a card. They have a putting green with various obstacles on it- not sure what that is about. There did not appear to be a cart gal on premises. We were out there two hours and u didn't see anyone making rounds. I think there wa one bathroom on the back nine? I played from the forward tees. The course is very forgiving. For league, we played the back nine. I didn't have the pleasure of getting into any traps but I did spray the ball left a couple times off of the tee and never lost any balls. It was a good time. Decent value for the money. Wish a half bucket of range balls was included. Left my range finder but my group recovered it and will return it to me next time. Overall it was low key and fun. Course was in decent shape. Some greens had brown spots and some fairways were burned out near the paths. Tee boxes were littered with weeds. But it was well marked and challenging with the narrow greens and all the hills/ditches.

This park has 2 courses, both courses have 18 holes and 2 baskets per hole. The Alpha course is the more popular course it has long and short tee as well as 2 basket placements. You really can get 4 different rounds from this course. You can see plenty of birds and nature. There are benches, shelters and tables and they recently installed rest rooms and a water filling station. Oh yeah, plenty of trash cans over the course so please don't litter. This is an awesome park and place to play disc golf for free.

We had friends driving north on I-95 wanting to meet us for lunch. The recently reopened restaurant…read moreat the Pelican Bay Golf Club was the perfect location. Easy access from the interstate and a gas station on the right side of the road to top off the tank. The restaurant has rebranded itself as the Club at Pelican. The proprietor has worked diligently over many months to restore the kitchen, dining area, and bar to become a very respectable establishment. His staff is very attentive, the dining room was well lighted and every table has a nice view. The food was better than what you might find at other area golf course restaurants. We enjoyed a Ruben sandwich, open face tuna sandwich, portobello stack, and shaved French dip. Each of us commented on how well our meal was prepared, seasoned, and presented. There were no leftovers! We arrived at 11:30am, the server was quick to get our drink orders which arrived without delay. She answered many questions cheerfully while taking our orders. And our food was delivered at one time, none of the sandwiches having appeared to be sitting and cooling. Just before noon, the restaurant began filling with patrons, but that did not prevent our server from checking on us and refilling drinks. The proprietor, Don, came to our table and asked how we were doing and what we thought of our experience. We could tell he genuinely wants to deliver a great dining experience. We departed around1:00pm having thoroughly enjoyed our first, but not last visit. We highly recommend the Club at Pelican Bay.

Basketball tennis and…read moredead people Detwiler is little park not far from the New Smyrna beaches. Certainly not a big park but a very cool one if you happen to like tennis or hoops. The little park boasts five lighted tennis courts, all in great condition. You don't need a reservation except for tournament play and can just grab a court and start whacking around some tennis balls. The park also has a very nice basketball court, a playground and some bathrooms. Not a lot of room for a walk, this park is centered around the fantastic tennis courts. If you happen to stroll over on the far end of the park you will notice that it has a small and old cemetery. Definitely an odd combination. Detwiler is a small park that is well known to tennis players in the area. A cool place to play as long as you don't mind a very still and old audience quietly watching.

An exceptional course. We drove up to New Smyrna last…read moreweekend with one inital reason, we saw this course. Yeah, a crazy idea, but I like a crazy idea. from south Florida it was about 3 hours. We arrived at 9am, and figured there was a chance we would have the place to ourselves. That turned out to not be, but it wasn't too busy, maybe 15 other people. We started off and did pretty well. Some holes were tough if we couldn't keep it in the fairway but a lot of fun different holes. One hole, I think 10, had a hanging basket, which we had never seen before. I'm happy to say i pulled out a par on that one. about half way through the round there was an extra 4 holes we could play if we wanted to. We did. I'm glad we mad the drive up. The facilities were nice, the parking area was well kept, and there wasn't even a charge to enter. I hope to make it back up again next year, it was too much fun.
