The reviews that caused me hesitation were pertaining to concerns of recommendations for unecesarry work. In the year and a half that my daughter didn't see the dentist we had more cavities creep up than I thought was possible, so initially I was skeptical of the proposed treatment plan. I ended up getting two treatment plan opinions. Both very similar in their recommendations. I'm writing this after our 3rd visit. Dr. Gurr is phenomenal! Each and every time we've received the same wonderful level of service. The entire office is incredibly efficient. As a very busy mom and professional who thrives on top notch customer service and process efficiency, their practice met all my expectations. We've never waited longer than 10 minutes. I always get a sense that everyone in the office is communicating up and down stream. They're so hospitable too! Speaking of, everyone in the front office is always friendly and kind. They all seem very busy, but they've never failed to offer water or coffee. Small gestures that make the customer experience a little more special. Our patient experience from beginning to end has been a 10/10! If you're looking for a new pediatric dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Gurr and his staff.

A lot of times you'll hear the expression 'so and so was a life saver...' but not to get too…read moredramatic I think I can actually say this without much exaggeration for the Dr's and staff here. After months of desperately struggling to get our daughters weight up and dealing with her issues eating, it was suggested by her normal dentist that she may have whats called a 'tongue tie' and need a laser surgery to remove it. Our daughter is 13 months and I wasn't particularly pleased with the idea of her being sedated for any period of time, no matter how much we needed the surgery to get her eating up to a healthy point. Dr. Jensen and the DFK offices are one of the only places we found in San Antonio that can perform this surgery on a kid. After a brief consultation Dr. Jensen talked us through our options. He himself was very candid about what was entailed in doing surgery on such a young kid and offered us the option of perhaps coming back in a few months when anesthesia may be an option. The issue for us is that her eating was so bad pushing it off a few months was not an option. Dr Jensen and his team assured us that were confident in success of the operation and the entire process took less then a few minutes. Our daughter received light local anesthesia, was swaddled in a blanket and within a few minutes the nurse was out to tell us she was okay. A few tears were shed and we were on our way home, which is where work for us parents began. We had to do exercises on her tongue and gum for three weeks... which if ever met a 13 month old... she didn't love. But a month or so later I can report back we have a brand new kid. She not only eats, she eats with joy and gusto and has a full healthy appetite. I would say this to parents who are struggling with a child who wont eat to please visit a dentist and ask if your child may have this. THIS WAS MISSED BY NUMEROUS PEDIATRICIANS and if it had been diagnoses earlier we would have saved a lot of difficulty and heart ache trying to get her to a healthy weight.

Unfortunately, my experience with the front office completely changed how I feel about this practice. When I called to schedule my children's next appointments, I was told they could only be seen at 8:00 a.m. because they "scream and cry." This was the first time I had ever heard there were behavior alerts on their accounts. Yes, my children have been nervous at the dentist before, but they're children. Being scared or crying during a dental visit isn't unusual. What upset me most wasn't that the office had scheduling recommendations--it was that no one discussed them with me at our previous visit. If someone had simply said, "Moving forward, we recommend scheduling them first thing in the morning because it tends to work better," I would have completely understood and appreciated the conversation. Instead, I was blindsided over the phone and spoken to as though this was already established without anyone ever informing me. I called back to speak with a manager because I felt this should have been communicated face-to-face before we left the last appointment. The way it was presented lacked compassion and understanding. Parents deserve open communication, especially when notes are being added to their children's charts that affect how they're scheduled. It's disappointing because the dentist provides excellent care, but the front office's approach left me feeling judged rather than supported. I hope they can improve their communication and show the same patience and empathy to families that the doctor shows to his young patients.

Great dentist! We…read moresee him since Dr. Gutierrez specializes in children with cleft lips. My son is only 18 months old, but we've seen Dr. Gutierrez since he was born and he's so good with him. He's really friendly, I can see why kids would like him. Delilah the front desk receptionist is very friendly and everytime I call is very nice and optimistic. I'm not a fan of his nurse though, I'm not sure what her name is but she's just very demeaning and makes me feel like I'm an idiot half the time. But the doctor is great!

His PCP says it's odd, it started in his throat which made it very obvious to us, the doctor or nurse that put their hands in my sons mouth, must have directly put these germs there. We never go anywhere, we don't have play dates. There's absolutely nobody else that could have given my son this virus. I noticed everyone in the office walks around with gloves on but never changes them and it never bothered me until now. Great service is crap if you can't be sanitary and my son suffered from it. The gentlest dentist's office I've ever been to…read more I've been going to South Flores for a little over a year now and am so sad it had taken me so long to find them. These guys are the literal best. Everyone at the office is so kind and seems to make a point of making visits as stress free as possible. The receptionists have always treated me kindly and have not rushed me when I'm scheduling with them or have additional questions, the hygienists are professional but talk you through every step so you aren't surprised as to what's going on or what happens next, and the dentists themselves are quick but efficient in handling the concerns brought up. I'd mentioned tooth hypersensitivity in one area and the hygienist went out of her way to numb the location for my routine cleaning and the dentist went over possible advanced solutions to help. I ended up getting a filling over the area which has helped the sensitivity immensely. At no other office I've tried prior have they offered to numb the location to help with the discomfort or be proactive about the issue when I've brought attention to it. I never thought it I could be such a simple fix, but they took the time to care and the issue's been mostly resolved. It's absolutely worth noting that the hygienists and the dentists aren't rough in the slightest and have the gentlest touch. While I myself don't have dentist anxiety, I'm sure this must be a relief for those that experience it. I highly recommend this office if you do have dentist anxiety or are simply looking for a new dentist. You won't regret it.

Barbara provides caring and thorough cleaning, works with you to make sure your teeth feel clean as she works, and offers gentle but direct suggestions for keeping teeth healthy at home. She and Dr. Weston are extremely friendly and professional and know exactly what they're doing. They both take as much time as needed to answer any question, and I have never felt rushed out. They're even out of network for me, but I don't care. It's worth it!

I took my 10 month old son for his first dental appointment today and he did awesome! From the…read morefirst call to book an appointment until we left today, the staff was friendly, helpful, attentive and full of compliments for my beautiful boy :) . Booking the appointment was simple and all we had to do beforehand was fill out the new patient forms on their website. The ladies at the front desk were so sweet! And the dental assistant and Dr. Frazier were both very informative and made sure I didn't have any questions or concerns. I'm so glad I found this place and that my son had a positive first experience. I highly recommend this office! Thank you all!!
