I might have messed up reviewing SS Towing last year. Review should have been for Costa Mesa. This business is so professional courteous. Broke down with class A Mtrhm dealing wit Good Sams and AAA was a joke . Dealt with Bad Sam for over a week while Mtrhm broken down in the street. Dave and assistant Charlie came and put Mtrhm in small side yard for couple months until we could get into shop. They just now towed to shop for repairs. They exceeded their work to get this Mtrhm hooked up to truck which was difficult. They maneuvered their big rig on city residential street, they showed up when pre-scheduled. Takeaway: DO NOT DEPEND ON THESE GUYS FOR U-HAUL PICKUP. This was my closest U-HAUL location, so having a very tight timetable pretty early in the morning, I picked Southside Towing. I called the night before to confirm someone would be there to handle the pickup. Nope, he's out sick. REALLY!? Awesome. Nothing else. That's it. No U-HAUL guy, no U-HAUL. So with minutes to spare (before the $65 an hour movers arrived), and knowing that there was that U-HAUL location up Newport Blvd a bit, my husband and I got on the phone to U-HAUL with our confirmation number and before we even told them where we were headed, they were on the phone with them and bam. Done, along with a $50 credit for my inconvenience and stress. Now I've never been a huge U-HAUL fan, they've botched some things up before, but this one they got straight, and fast. If you missed it before, pass on U-HAUL service from these guys. Having ONE person trained, who could be sick, hungover, or late isn't worth it on such a stressful day. read more

I just wanted to give a shoutout to Dave, Sam, and Tony!Despite all of the frustration I had with my apartment complex management for calling to get my car towed, once I came to pick up my car, they were all so great to me and my mom. They were patient, kind, and very understanding that I was upset and already having a bad day. This was my first (and hopefully last) time getting my car towed so this experience was new for me and even though nobody likes the thought of getting your car towed, all 3 of them helped me to calm down a little because of their professionalism. Also I want to apologize to Linda who I took my frustrations out on at first but she was very calm and understanding during the entire call. There is zero customer service, tried to get my car after it was towed over the 4th waited over an hour apparently the only person who worked was their driver. I along with several people had to wait until the driver came back from a tow so we can get our car out from their lot. Why wouldn't you staff your office and make your driver have to take care of everything. read more

I guess it is not their fault my car was towed but they made the whole experience worse. They are contracted with my HOA to do the towing in my community. My car was towed on a Friday night. Herein lies the twist. They charge an extra $100 to pick up your car because they say their "office is closed on the weekend". How convenient (and profitable) for them to close on the weekend when the majority of towing is done. But you can go there on the weekend and there is a person working and doing office work to take your money and release your car. What a rip off! Also if I was a suspicious person I would say they might even pay off the private security company/officers to tow cars on the weekend. What a scam! read more

Best Experience I've Ever Had! I cannot say enough about Southside Towing in Costa Mesa. I wish I knew the name of the other employees that helped me, along with the owner, Dave. I had to visit the lot today to retrieve items from my boss's Tesla. Upon arriving, I was not able to unlock the vehicle with the key fob or through the Tesla app due to the damage of the vehicle. Dave and the employees saved me an additional trip to the Tesla Service center and worked quickly to help me gain entry into the car. The story is somewhat short but sweet. My 1998 Volvo needed to be towed from my driveway to Value Auto (owner Tom Donoghue has taken exceptional care of me for over a decade now ... that's literally another review) in Costa Mesa. Southside Towing was dispatched from ACSC (Automobile Club of Southern CA) roadside assistance. I'm writing this review because driver Gustavo was excellent from start-to-finish. Attentive and personable, so friendly (and early in the morning) ... he made a by-definition-frustrating situation almost painless. Folks, we live in the age where "customer service" is not quite the value and normal experience that it once was. (I know, I know ... I sound like the old guy that I am, right?) But this was great. Yes, my ailing car got from here-to-there and that was the main point of it all, but Gustavo represented the Company well and made me so glad to run into a guy who still obviously cares about his work and his customers. My car got towed from my complex because I forgot to hang my pass when I parked. I have lived there for over two years and it was human error that I forgot. Fine. My fault. I went to pick up my car that was there for TWO HOURS and I had to pay $417.00. UNBELIEVABLE. I am a work from home stay at home mom and I cannot believe that I had to give these people that much money for two hours. Then I go to the gas station on my way home because my car was on empty and so I filled up and turned on my car and they had completely drained my battery and my car was dead. I was completely stranded at Arco. It took two jumps from a (different) tow truck company to start my car enough for me to drive two miles home. My car was completely fine the day before. So on top of paying this stupid tow fee I also had to buy a new car battery in the same damn day. read more

South Coast Towing is dishonest about their towing fees. Unfortunately, I was towed outside of my house and could not pick up my car for two days because the only way to get there was by having my wife, who is nine months pregnant, drive with me and then take the second car back home. I was told over the phone that the per day charge is $51, as is also apparent from the reviews below. But when I went to pickup my car, I was charged $68 per day for three days, although my car had been there for well under 72 hours. South Coast Towing has shady business practices, and I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

These guys are sharks that prey on you to drain you empty. I had a dinner with my 85 years old dad at Palm Island (senior living community) in Fountain Valley- No guest parking after 8PM. At 8:15pm I came out the car was gone. To get it back within the hour, they charged me extra $100. So either next day for $265 or $365. Damn easy money for these guys. There's never a good time for a car issue. They're always a headache and more money than you anticipate. So when you find good and efficient service along the way, as Jeff provided, it really helps the situation not seem so frustrating. Jeff at Southside Towing was awesome in helping me tow my car to exactly where I needed to go. He got to me much quicker than I was told by dispatch to expect him. I just finished a round of golf only to find that the front tire on my GMC Yukon was completely flat. I called AAA and expected that I would have to wait up to an hour for a repair service to show up. It was the end of the day on Sunday. I was very happy when Southside towing showed up within 10 minutes. Amazing! I don't know how they did that. The service was extraordinary! Service man, Vince Lambert, was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. He found where the tire had been punctured, installed the spare, and made sure the air pressure in the spare was correct. He did all of this quickly and with a great attitude. I think Vince was a real God send. I highly recommend Vince and Southside towing. read more
