towed my car from a Santa Ana apartment parking lot... Apparently they didn't know it was stolen, even though my car was missing all wheels and tires! And it had the stereo ripped out! And the ignition broken! How stupid are they that they couldn't put 2&2 together???? (IM BEGINNING TO THING THEY FOUND IT WITH WHEELS ON AND TOOK THEM OFF TO SELL THEM THATS HOW CROOKED THEY ARE) Instead of calling the police Dept as they're supposed to they towed it to Costa Mesa, dropped it off in their impound to charge me $240 for being in there for 2 hours!!!! Also my car has never leaked ANYTHING before and I'm pretty sure they caused damage to the breaks and undercarriage of the vehicle by dropping it to the ground with no wheels! Also when I checked the engine the main air hose was dislodged from its bracket... In an attempt to discourage ppl from taking their cars out of the impound and sell them for a cheap price to the towing company they tweaked something that would make my car not work properly... An overall shady place! Don't call them or go there for anything! And if you do... Don't say I didn't warn you! After reading the comment by this reputable towing truck company... I am still sure they're crooked as hell! AFTER FINDING A CAR WITH NO RADIO BROKEN IGNITION SWITCH AND MISSING WHEELS... What's my first thoughts? Oh the owner must've stripped it himself to get rid of it LMAO!! From when I filled out the police report, the officer mentioned if the car was found on the street they'd call me first so I wouldn't have to pay any money trying to get it out of the impound! I was not towed. After releasing my car to my insurance, which there were many phone calls back and forth to get the form to the correct email address since the website wasn't up to date, my car was gone through. My insurance person even over heard your guys taking about going through another vehicle in the lot as it left your facility. read more

Discovered my car had a flat tire while I was at school today, so Jeff came to my rescue. I've had my fair share of car problems in the past and almost every tow service that's helped me looked like they hated their job and were rude. Jeff on the other hand was awesome and went above and beyond to help. I appreciated the fact that he got there in less than 15 min and greeted me with a smile and lots of jokes. If I could give a zero I would. These guys do not work with people, there is no waivers. It was explained to me this way a minute after lifting my car. Since we lifted your car it costs 90 to drop it. Literally when in the house to unload for a couple minutes came out and the swooped. Despite the owner's insistence that they work for businesses and the city. They are more like hunting vultures out to ruin everyone day. It was after 9pm and all businesses in the plaza were closed and there was ample parking. So we can rule out the possibility of business calling them.. The towing vulture hovering around took my car but when it aggressively came back for my friends car we got back to the parking lot. Upon seeing us the towing truck sped up and fled like a criminal not wanting to get caught committing a wrongful act. Why can't they give people a break... It was not a busy time, in fact it was peaceful and empty in Newport Beach. Even if I get a parking ticket from the cops, it'd be cheaper ... I once inquired the negotiated rate between towing companies and insurance and found the rate to be humane only $50-$100. What the towing companies charge private citizen like me for towing my car 1 mile open their gate and store the car for 15 min is $335 is just outrageous. They said they do not make the rate but they sure lobbied the rates to be this high. Towing companies are out to rip off people, ruining life's when people are driving too safe on the road and not enough accidents occurring or break-down cars. The future does not look so bright for these towing companies as cars get more advanced and safer. Either they go out or raise their prices and hunt for clueless innocent law abiding citizens who barely make an innocuous mistake. Response to Southside Comments: - accidents unfortunately happen but the towing rate will most likely be pre-negotiated with the insurances so doesn't pertain to the outrageous charges. I have insurance too, why can't I have the same rate? - why does Huntington Beach, garden Grove, Santa Ana have lower towing charges? And so high in Costa Mesa. A private citizen wouldn't know. - sinages: there were signs but they weren't at the entrance, they were hideous in the dark corners, only noticed them after getting towed because was trying hard to find the company info. - the restaurant we went to was in the same plaza, sharing the same roof with other units so probably owned by the same guy... -cost of operating $200k/year is high which is good, the lot was empty with only one totaled car and mine so probably going out of business soon. My son got his car towed from the retail shopping center (Promelli's market) at Irvine Blvd and 17th street in NB when he left it there over night. He left his wallet in the glove box and was obviously concerned about the $225.00 cash still being there. We got the car back and all the cash was there. The guy behind the counter was polite, professional and smiled when I thanked him for the cash being in the wallet as my son took the $225 out of his wallet to pay for the tow. read more

The owner of the establishment elks couldn't believe it , and top it all off this scam tow company slapped a bill for $450 for the tow. Just finished reading most of these reviews and I see what happened to us seems to be a recurring issue with this company. My boyfriends car was towed from my community because of an error on my HOA's part...anyways when we went to pick up the car, we couldn't open the driver side door and we saw that the seatbelt had been wrapped around the steering wheel. When we questioned why they had gone inside the car we were told they had to lock the steering wheel, hence why the seatbelt was wrapped around it. We were told to contact the office in Orange regarding the damage and the lady was extremely rude saying the car was damaged before they towed it and that she knows all of her drivers and none of them damage any vehicles and then she hung up on me. We then preceded to drive down to the office to show them the damage and they agreed there was damage but still would not take responsibility. Needless to say we will be taking them to court...it's the principal of the matter that they have been getting away with unethical business practices, as well as getting reimbursed for the cost of the damages. read more

Illegally towed my car. Ripped off the bottom side damaging my car and didn't notice me of it. I tried getting in contact with companies they work with and they gave me wrong numbers to waste everyone's time. They don't share important details about how to get your car back so they waste more of your time. They show no grace. Poor customer service. read more

When I finally went in I dealt with Brett Ben and Carlos and they were all very nice and helped me out and even let my friend use their bathroom! This place has a bad reputation but don't listen to the hype. My car got towed by mistake because the security guard in the complex I was parked at was new and jumped the gun. He towed me before 11pm when he should have waited until after 11pm to tow. Of course I called Southside and left my contact info for someone to call me back. I thought for sure no one would ever call me back. Within an hour, both owners called me to apologize and issued me a refund! : ) They were super nice and very understanding. A lot of people would tell me bad things about this place but honestly, I experienced nothing but professionality and kindness. I would not ever use them again, they sat my car front wheels up on 4x4 and it popped my tire, I will be a cold day before I use them. then while we were there he said you have a flat tire when I looked behind the tire it was blew out from being sat on a 4x4 block. I have towed for years and I know this is not a good practice. It just shows that they don't care. read more

First time needing a towing service, my car broke down on my way to work. Called them and they gave me an estimate over the phone which was beyond a fair price also noticed they were one of the closest and best rated towing services near where I was. They got to me in less then 30 minutes and the driver was beyond nice and accommodating. So friendly completely made my morning better from the incident that happened prior. Took me to my mechanic and was absolutely wonderful. Hoping I never need to call a tow service again but if I do I will totally be using Southside Towing. 10/10 recommend. Wish I had gotten the name of my driver because he was literally OUTSTANDING , amazing customer service especially when the customer is visibly distraught over what happened. read more

My car broke down on 405 Frwy, AAA sent Southside Towing to rescue. The driver, Shawn called before arrival, making sure he got the correct location and checking if I was safe. He got there before the estimated time and towed my car home. He was checking the car what was wrong and suggested not to buy new battery before checking the alternator. He was right, the alternator was out! Had a great experience with him, helping all the way, I would totally use and recommend this company and especially Shawn if I need it (hopefully not....no offense... :))) read more

2002 Denali needed a jump. Called AAA. Harry came out and knocked it outta the park. Not only did he do the easiest thing (actually jumping the truck with the necessary higher voltage) but he showed me a couple tricks that help with the jump when doing it yourself, explained to me how to ensure it wouldn't immediately recur, gave me some information regarding the vehicle, the battery, and some local trustworthy services, but did it all with a smile and great attitude. Harry let me know he cared about me and what he does. And to end the episode a neighbor came out and said "Harry's the best! I wouldn't use anyone else!" And I agree 100%!!! read more
