Gabriel and his crew completed a job for me over a year ago...but they never actually completed it…read more In fact, I wrote another review about halfway through the project on his old landscaping site, Compass Landscaping and have filed a civil case, despite NUMEROUS requests to resolve the small, but expensive, remaining issues. Gabriel's crew is wonderful and hard working. They did a great job on the hardscaping, though there are still issues with drainage on a patio. Gabriel left my parents and myself hanging. There was an entire corner of the lawn that they never returned to sod, several of the large expensive plants we bought got sick during warrantee and Gabriel did not extend the courtesy of getting back in touch with us to replace them, and the same thing happened with a large red oak, which is now dying. The watering system was not maintainer or properly set up, corners were cut and the lack of communication surrounding something that is EASILY remedied is the most frustrating part. I have written and called no less than ten times, but it appears he is too busy to finalize a $120,000+ project that he said he would over a year ago.

We hired Devin of Wallace Construction because he seemed like a really nice kid. He responded…read morequickly and said all the right things. After he started our landscaping project in July of 2022, we immediately had some concerns with the size of his staff (2 workers, both young and inexperienced) A 2-3 wk job turned into a 7wk job with multiple issues arising. Devin assured us at every turn that he would be there to make things right and follow through. On the day his work team was supposed to be preparing for our sod to be laid (a time sensitive segment of the project) they were a no show. This delayed sod pick up by a day and unfortunately some of our sod didn't make it. Our front yard looks terrible!! I also gave bonuses to the workers Devin got to replace the ones that didn't show to help encourage them to salvage the job. The irrigation subcontractor he hired that requested an additional $900 ended up MIA and never completely finished our irrigation system. We had to have "Andy's Sprinkler Co" come in, and we paid them another $1,000 to fix issues, and it's still not where it needs to be (not Andy's fault). Drip is connected to a zone with regular pressurized sprinkler heads which is a problem and the list goes on. His concrete subcontractors work needed to be re-done twice, and it's still now cracking and looks terrible!! Devin laid our artificial turf incorrectly so the grain of the grass is Mis-matched, it's so obvious. You can tell it's artificial because of how it's laid. He assured us he would fix it, now he is MIA and completely ghosting us. I've given him 7 months to make this right before leaving this review. Next I'll be going to the better business bureau and eventually I'll end up suing him for the additional money we will have to pay to have things made right. We are fair minded, patient, good people. We would never move forward on these choices if he'd made things right. We just need our $19,000 project completed with quality workmanship and honor. We have called him and there is no way for us to leave a msg and he doesn't return any of my husbands texts. We have given him every opportunity to make this right. I would avoid this company if you're considering them for a project. He is unreliable and doesn't finish the job.

Poor communication, no follow up, and finally after effort on my part he finally came by. He asked I send him pics of the pavers and gravel I may want, which I did, but never heard from him. My email stated going forward we will only communicate via email as text messages are not good documentation for a $3K project (it is what he gave me without seeing the project). A week has past and no response. I had another very bad experience last year with another concrete person and Ramos seemed to follow the same path, so I am backing off. The $3K did not include materials. It is not a big job, and I have done this myself in past homes. As you can see in his response below that he never intended to follow-up yet lead me to believe he would send an estimate and to send him pictures. Why say that with no intention to follow-up. amazing how a negative review gets immediate attention.

I had a project done for a very large rainwater collection system (55,000 gallon tank) on my home. The installer for the rainwater system recommended American Hill Country Gutters for the gutters. This review is only regarding the gutter portion of the project by AHC gutters. Throughout the initial project Mr. Johnson was okay to work with, except for a few periods of long wait times, lack of communication, and an occasional grumpy attitude. I can certainly understand a few bad days, no problem. After the new installation, I discovered the elbows at the top were not secured, and a few splash guards were not working as expected. There was communication between my rainwater collection installer and Mr. Johnson about making the changes. I called Mr. Johnson to ask about his schedule, and I was surprised to hear they were coming that same day (luckily I was home). When his employees arrived they were very nice. Initially the employee thought he was only addressing a couple of elbows. I explained that all of them needed to be checked. I asked him if he could show me what he needed to do. I was trying to explain my concern about the removable screens that needed to function on the leaf eaters below the elbows. I asked if there was a way to make it work. His phone rang while I was standing there, and it was his boss Mr. Johnson. The employee handed me the phone. I was not prepared for what came next. Mr. Johnson proceeded to yell at me, belittled me, told me I was stupid for listening to other opinions, told me I didn't trust his guys, and told me to shut up and let his guys do their job. It was actually worse than that, but you get the picture. Then he to yelled at his employee as well. I was in shock. After going in my house to settle down for a bit, I came back out to work with the employee. I felt sorry for him for being part of this behavior. Once he was all done I thanked him for doing the best that he could. After having some time to reflect on this, I realize how bad the situation really was. It is possible Mr. Johnson wasn't happy that he was called to do this. Maybe he didn't think he should be fixing it. I have no idea. That's no reason to take out frustrations on his staff and the homeowner. I remained calm and professional to him, and his employee. I reviewed the whole thing on my ring camera to reflect on the incident. I am pretty sure I won't get an apology. American Hill Country Gutters will not be returning for anything in the future, which was probably Mr. Johnson's goal all along. In summary, if you consider a major rainwater collection system on your home, please do not use American Hill Country Gutters for that portion of your project. When you read the other reviews about rudeness by the owner, believe them. He will take your money for an installation, but if he has to come back to fix anything, he changes his attitude. He is not a nice person, especially to women.
