Rather than guess, I stopped to talk with the pharmacist to ensure my selection was a good one. The pharmacist was knowledgeable and helpful. He agreed that the item I chose would suffice. I got the item and left the store. Shared parking outside.

When we arrived, there was no one at the front desk, so we sat down briefly. Shortly after, Nurse Practitioner Donnamarie came out and immediately gave the impression that we were late, even though we had been seated since 3:48 PM. She said we were "not signed in yet" and told me I could either use the app on my phone or check in on the kiosk. I assumed she meant the four powered-down tablets by the chairs in the waiting area. After unsuccessfully trying to turn them on, I told her they didn't work -- only then did she point to the actual kiosk tucked away on the other end of the room. I had forgotten the required paperwork at home, and when I asked for a replacement copy to fill out, she provided it -- but her demeanor throughout was dismissive and smug, as if she wanted us to leave before we even started. We were then seen by a nurse who was very friendly and professional, which I appreciated. When Donnamarie later reviewed the paperwork, she took issue with me leaving the seizure history blank. This was intentional -- my daughter hasn't had any seizure-related issues since she was six, nearly a decade ago, and I didn't consider it relevant for a sports physical. The way she delivered the news that she couldn't sign off without that section completed was telling -- it came with a visible sense of satisfaction, as though creating an inconvenience for us was, in itself, a small victory for her. It gave the clear impression that she took more interest in finding a reason to deny service than in helping a patient complete a simple visit. Between the one hour of travel and the appointment itself, the visit cost time, effort, and an early departure from work, all without achieving the reason for our appointment. While I understand the need for accurate documentation, the combination of poor communication, condescending tone, and apparent delight in denying care turned what could have been a minor paperwork fix into a wasted trip. Professionalism and respect for patients should always be the standard, and unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

I found their staff to be helpful and ready to point me the right direction. I haven't been to a Walgreens in a while, and I was sent a reminder recently that my W Cash Rewards were going to expire if I didn't use some of them or make a purchase soon. As such, I've been to a few Walgreens in the last few weeks. When walking around today, I saw that the aisles were looking good and most items in stock. When I was checking out, there was no one ahead of my father and me, so it was an easy and quick transaction. One thing that made this a unique Walgreens visit was that this location hosts a Village Medical Primary Care office within the Walgreens store itself. While it was closed, it reminded me of the CVS Minute Clinics. Either way, it is a good use of the store though appears to be completely independent of Walgreens (whether or not this is the case). The W Cash Rewards program is a free program to sign up for and easy to use. You earn back 1% in Walgreens Cash rewards storewide, even at the pharmacy, and 5% in rewards on Walgreens branded products. There are also sales prices automatically unlocked and other savings coupons where you can earn reward dollars by making a purchase after selecting a given coupon. Sometimes the coupons are on a receipt from your most recent purchase. You can also find other coupons on the app or the website (or in a booklet or ad when you arrive at the store). While I do not frequent Walgreens as often as other drug stores, I often wonder why when I happen to visit a Walgreens store as it's so easy to shop there and my experiences are often very pleasant.

However, often times I've had to argue about scripts that were delayed. They had filled the wrong script and caused me hours of phone calls and undue stress with doctors and insurance companies. Then it turned out they had been filling an old script and ignored the current one. Luckily, my persistence got them to find it in their system. My main problem with this pharmacy is one particular staff member. She is so nasty that my daughter even asked me why she was such an evil Karen. I know this person doesn't have to be this way. I actually saw a human side of her once and had a very pleasant conversation. It was so rare, that it stood out and I came home and told my husband about it. I had hope that I had finally broken through and she would be nice going forward but last time I was there she treated me like I was being booked for a crime in jail. I understand this is a thankless job at times. Probably similar to the first job I had at a cleaners. Never ending demand, dealing with insurance companies, grumpy people, etc. but she makes going there a dreadful experience. If you go here, be ready to be treated badly if you encounter CVS Karen. Be nice to her, I think she is having a perpetual bad day.

In the early mornings, you'll find the store full of landscapers stopping to fill up on gas and grabbing drinks and snacks on their way to work. The ladies at the big check out counter keep them smiling and moving as it's s a constant flow. Walk to the back, and you'll find the cozy cafe full of locals meeting and catching up with friends over a warm country breakfast. The wood floors and the vintage items hanging all around and above remind me of my aunt's house. It's such a comfy, warm vibe that I like to top off with biscuits and gravy with country fried steak. Over the 14 years of working in the area, I've stopped by many mornings to grab biscuits and gravy on the way to work. As you leave the cafe to pay at the back counter, you then pass the small US Postal Office that continues to run. The plaza outside also has plenty of tables and chairs with a neat old mission aesthetic surrounding you. Many spaces sit empty, but a few businesses do have storefronts. Make the stop whether for breakfast, gas or just to browse this cool area.
